the concrete beneath her feet make her feel as if every step is a step closer to a cliff, pack weighing her down like an anchor. the boy beside her isn’t anyone special, potentially a friend, if she stays around long enough. she has just a mind to be gone like smoke, in the wind -- a mere GHOST of a girl. she lets out a scoff at his question, pastor’s son / perfect student, she couldn’t even remember what miss howard taught.
