It was nice to have a free hand to eat nachos with...5 years ago to the day, I created this design titled ‘Possibilities’, on the 27/07/2016, on Cat Ba Island, Vietnam. I always observed myself as commitment phobic, but I realize that is not the case, I was being discerning. I have been interested in and fantasized over getting my own tattoo(s) since I was 17. Pondering over what it would be, I fantasized about a heart chakra mandala, amplifying healing symbols on my palms, and something on my wrist to always remind me how to take life better. Through the expats of Vietnam’s ‘visapocalypse’, I told myself that if I were still in Vietnam on this day, I would do this tattoo. I have tattoo’d over 35 people, satisfying, I enjoy it a lot and would love it as a steady part of my life. This is a beautiful way of choosing my path, as an artist, where I have already pledged my life to the pursuit of authentic creative expression. As my friend pointed out, it’s been half my life I’ve wanted a tattoo, I’ve waited 18 years to get this self made scratcher, I’m pretty proud of what I’ve created with FaceConscious and this is an external reflection for me, that I will always have all that I’ve done and learned within me. I didn’t need this tattoo...I just really wanted one!
