“or you could just break up with him. that’s also an option.” beau muttered as he looked at them. “or we could lie and just say we kissed. no need to do something if no one is going to see it anyway.” he added a moment later, rolling his eyes at the other’s offer. “not something i’m into. sort of like you, zander.”

“we’d have to be dating for us to break up.” a bitter edge to their tone. “but the fun part is actually doing it.” a sigh of disappointment. “you can pretend to dislike me all you want beaumont, but just know the more you push me away the more i want you.”

“Zandyyy,” they whined quietly. “I don’t wanna walk anymore. Can you carry me?”

rolling their eyes, zander scooped felix into their arms. “you wiggle, you walk.” they teased.

“You’re so good baby, I hope you know that you’re the best.” Felix pressed their face against Zander’s shoulder as they walked. They were thankful for Zander’s arm being around around their waist, without it they were almost certain they’d fall.

“i do.” was their cocky reply, smirk evident. “but i could listen to you say it all day.”

as feverish as the kiss was on zander's end, beau returned the kiss with nearly as much verocity. the kiss was hot, passionate, and short lived as he retreated, shaking his head and backing away from the other. “one, that’s not going to do a damn thing if bodhi isn’t here to see it.” he stated. “two, i’m not my brother. i tolerate you and that’s all.”

zander laughed, their lips left cold and lonely when beau pulled away. “it’ll work when he finds out.” zander quirked an eyebrow. “but hey i can call him here to watch if that’s what you’re into.” while they wanted to move closer, reclose the space that had been lost, they didn’t risk it, not yet. “i know you’re not. that’s why i’m here with you and not him.”

“Feel free to make fun of me.. But I kind of spent my time when I wasn’t trying to figure out how to open the tomb writing journals for you three.. There’s a bunch of them.. But it’s like two hundred years of me trying to keep you up to date with what was going on in the world and I figured they could be at little bit helpful..”

“You have way too much time on your hands, Bodhi. Better luck with Felix, this will send me straight to sleep. Besides taking them would be a step towards forgiveness that, frankly, i’m not ready to take. So, as today’s youth would put it, suck my fucking ass.”

“And I deserved it.. I fucked up, but I didn’t stop trying to get you back.. As much as you hate me, I hate myself twice as much because I know I put you through all of that pain because I couldn’t follow simple instructions… I can’t say sorry enough, you have to know that I love you.. I never stopped loving you and Felix. I’ll still love you even if you hate me until the end of time..”

“i don’t hate you.” zander admitted grumpily. “i hate what you did. i hate that when i think of you it just reminds me of being left in that cave to desiccate. most of all i hate that you hurt felix all because you didn’t pay attention.”

“I love you.” Felix let his head lean against Zander’s. “Yeah, If it’s okay with you.”

“i love you too.” zander sighed, enjoying the other’s closeness. not wanting to break the contact zander shifted so their arm was around felix’s waist, attempting to guide their drunk boyfriend through new orleans.

“is it really a problem with me, or the mortals that infest this earth?”

zander pondered it for a moment. “mhm, seems like a you problem.”

“I guess so,” he mumbled. He wasn’t really in the spirit of the new year so much as he was desperate to try and escape last years feelings with all his might. “A…. lot.”

pressing a kiss to felix’s cheek they rested their head on his shoulder, pulling him close. “do you want to go home ?”

“When have I ever been known to learn from my actions? Also, I’m not giving up on you guys.. I spent to long to trying to get you back to just give up.”

“we gave up on you. a long time ago.”

Celebrating the new year seemed odd. After all they’d barely been apart of the year that was passing. Yet here they were, with Felix drunker than he should have been, holding onto Zander tighter than usual, and kissing him with undeniable desperation.

“looks like someone is feeling the new years spirit.” zander laughed against their boyfriend’s lips. pulling away so they could look at felix’s face. “how much did you drink ?” they asked, clearly amused.

ever since they had been saved from the tomb, beau had been making an effort to avoid his brother. he wasn’t ready to deal with him just yet, his wounds still fresh as his anger threatened to spill out. he was going to wait until he was ready, angry or otherwise. still, he was intrigued by the other shifter’s proposition. “such as?”

without hesitation zander moved swiftly towards him, pressing their lips to his in a heated kiss on his end — stolen but not forceful he took it slow, waiting for beau to react.

“I loved him, I still love him.” It was far from the first time he’d said that in their relatively short time out of the tomb, and it wasn’t likely to be the last either. Felix felt so hurt, and what made it even worse was that he felt responsible for Zander’s pain as well. “I did too, I’m so sorry.”

“so do i, we’ll probably always love him.” the thought wasn’t comforting but it was true. “but he betrayed us, he betrayed you and i’m not ready to forgive him for that. and i don’t know if i ever will be.” after all the years spent in the tomb zander has grown more and more bitter, the more they missed out on in life the more they blamed bodhi. “don’t be sorry.”

“you back for more ?” zander asked defensively before sighing. “haven’t you done enough.”

“You’d be more useful as a statement piece on my fireplace.”

“i know i’m nice to look at but that wouldn’t work out. what’s your problem, anyway?”

“so you gave up on us ?”

“I tried everything I could think of.. I didn’t give up.. I spent 146 years trying to figure out how to get you back.. I thought you were dead.”

“did you ? my apologies if i have a hard time believing that.” zander shot back, tone sour. “we were caught waiting for you.” once again they got up close to bodhi, fist raised and ready to make contact with his pretty face while the other hand grasped his shirt.
