Since Bakelite is no longer produced, the designer scours antique markets and estate sales to acquire the rare material…sometimes in the most unusual forms, like a jute box or a radio! The Bakelite is then shaped and restored to its original luster and set with modern inlays or precious and semi-precious stones.
