i've been slowly catching up on comics & mangas i have growing in a pile at home, waaa
this month i wanted to share thoughts on love bullet (by inee), and what i took from reading volume 1!
what surprised me the most is the composition, and the dynamic panels, while also have a lot of more quiet/chill chatting moments, but fitting in the same kind of panelling.
the panels are very "horizontal", either long landscape panels, or thin strips with many small square ones, it's very pleasant, feels very wide and the few vertical panels set a completely different mood very quickly. pages with vertical strips give that sensation of falling; urgency; something being flipped around!
it's impressive that there is so much dynamism and action with almost every panels being straight. almost no diagonal lines or disjointed panel lines, but it works so well!
it really plays with the framing, the perspective, things or characters popping out of panels, ...
even in the effects (explosion, shots, punch, ...) it's impressive to see it being drawn with neat thin straight delicate lines, yet convey such strength and power!
it feels really far from what i do and what i pursue, but it makes me want to explore and play more with what i can achieve with framing or displaying things differently!
maybe it won't work for me, or maybe it'll make me see it's definitely not for me, but i love to try and adapt and shake things up in my process and views, especially things i like to see, but are opposite to what i do. you never know what new ideas can spark!
the story is also very intriguing, i'm glad it got serialised over here, and i can't wait for the next volume!
