This really crystallized an issue I have with TDA: Cohort members are non-lethally imprisoned because "they're still Shadowhunters," but faeries are killed indiscriminately on the battlefield. Even though the series is supposed to highlight the humanity of Downworlders, those same Downworlders will be used as an army of mindless goons whenever there needs to be a good fight scene. The other series can fall into this problem as well, but it's so jarring in TDA that Kieran is talking about trying to bring back the things he loves about Unseelie while at the same time it's an army of Unseelie fey that are being slaughtered by Shadowhunters. True, those fey are choosing to follow Oban's orders to attack even after Kieran claimed the crown and told them to stand down, but Emma's whole lesson at the end of the series is that she doesn't need to punish the people who hurt her. Why does Zara Dearborn deserve her mercy more than those Unseelie foot soldiers?

I do think it makes a lot of sense that even the most accepting Shadowhunters would (on some level) think that Shadowhunter lives are worth more, but this should be acknowledged as a flaw within the narrative! Have Kieran or Mark or Nene be like "man it's fucked up that you're carefully battling Cohort members with the flat of your blade so as to avoid hurting them too badly right after you killed a bunch of faeries," and make the Shadowhunters realize that they still need to work on seeing faeries as people equal to themselves.

Yes, Black men in majority white spaces do. If I don’t smile every single second of the day my coworkers become in intimidated and start asking me what’s wrong, telling me to smile, make jokes about how I’m trying to be a thug/act hard, why am I angry, etc. And it’s not just white men at my job God FORBID I my large Black ass makes a white girl feel threaten because I’m sitting down with a neutral expression.

I’m not trying to take this post away from women and make it about Black men but I want to point out that wether it’s patriarchy or white supremacy; those who feel as if they have power over you HATE to see you not smile. They are so used to people like you smiling to gain their approval that when you don’t there’s a cognitive dissonance that makes them extremely uncomfortable.

That’s why “angry Black women” is a thing. They have to put on a smile for everyone (yes even feminist white women) or we all get uncomfortable.

I don't see anyone talking about it on tumblr yet, but forums.rpgmaker.com is going down on June 18th and being deleted entirely in December.

If YOU use any RPG Maker engines or are considering using one, YOU should let them know that we don't want decades of RPG Maker support and history taken down. Especially when the intention seems to be discouraging people from using older versions. I personally still use RPG Maker MV because privately made MZ plugins are often made with AI, and the more recent RPG Maker versions they've released are Unity plugins and not their own seperate program, and I'm not interested in Unity at all.
