This topic may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I feel America has progressed enough to allow me the platform to speak my mind, or so I thought. 💭 I recently lost a friend I’ve had for many years, since middle school, all over differences of opinions, thing is, I wasn’t referring to her when I wrote what I wrote that ended our friendship, but some how that’s how she construed it. Anyway, I am a LGBTQ advocate, and I will always stand proud in my beliefs that people should be able to love whom they choose. A brave young woman recently came out to the World, Ms. Jojo Siwa, and I was damn proud of her for speaking her truth and living in a way that makes HER happy. I knew my “friends,” opinion on the matter, she didn’t care for flaunting your gay, and she certainly believed Jojo should remove her bow if she wanted to come out as gay (who does that)? Regardless, I know people are entitled to their opinions wether or not I agree. Fast forward about 2 weeks later, I saw another post on Instagram that Jojo came out with her Girlfriend, I was thrilled for her, but saddened at the amount of haters she was getting for living her truth. So, I made a post on my personal Facebook, offering some advice to parents on how to speak to their children if they are uncomfortable with their kids being around different groups of people. She felt this was an attack on her, and chucked it up to me being “mad,” all the time, she unfriended me on Facebook and has chosen to end a long time friendship over a difference of opinion which had nothing to do with her, not to mention when she made a hate post about Jojo, I never responded because I didn’t feel the need to engulf myself with negative. She is also a huge advocate for freedom of speech, I just can’t seem to wrap my head around someone who is for freedom of speech, yet bashes and unfriends you for using your rights. I did a lot personally for this person too, it’s crazy how even at my age I’m still learning lessons in life, I shouldn’t be so giving or trusting, you never know when that person isn’t going to like something you said and switch up faster than a Transformer. Just needed to get that off my chest, one love to all and for all, Peace ☮️.
