I like that they're not doomed. Barring the fact they had one day together, it won't feel like it ever ended.

I enjoy how this chapter approached queerness.

Yapping + Chapter 5 spoilers(?) below.

Susie and Noelle having the most "queer teenager" date with their friend warmed my heart, and the entire time my friends and I were playing and voicing, we couldn't stop awwing and giggling. I also felt very in tune with Noelle in the sense of I have also had health problems in my family and overarching expectations and (still very much have) the desire to run, run as far as possible, and in my life there's one person that supports it and makes me feel the most safe. I have also been in Susie's shoes of feeling like 'too much' and trying to brush it all off; I cannot wait to see their reunion in chapter 6, quite frankly.

Seth is, by far, my favorite flower. I've mentioned it before, but their appearance, exploration of gender expression, and attitude about how 'humans' should be struck a chord with me. I used to be more self-imposing of "how to look my gender" and it sort of made me exhausted, and at some point gender just sort of became whatever felt comfortable despite how people saw me.

Yellow and Blue's dynamic brings softness to my heart. Outside of "oh yay a mlm couple that's just casually there," I enjoy that both aren't strictly traditionally masculine. Blue is feminine, elegant, and soft something that isn't often seen with Black gay men, Yellow states that he isn't exactly a boy, but a 'cowboy.' Jokes about that aside, I enjoy their portrayal of a healthy relationship. I also oddly enjoy how. Not normal they both are ? It's refreshing to see something new like that :]

The 2026 Gender Census is now open!

The 13th annual international gender census, collecting information about the language we use to refer to ourselves and each other, is now open until 13th August 2026.

It’s short and easy, for most participants it takes 5 minutes or less.

After the survey is closed I’ll process the results and publish a spreadsheet of the data and a report summarising the main findings. Then anyone can use them for academic or business purposes, self-advocacy, tracking the popularity of language over time, and just feeling like we’re part of a huge and diverse community.

Left is Konstantin'a bag, which I have a painting in progress for, Right is Rayne's bag (sketch) which has a lot of 70s stuff since he's from then. Looking at old stuff is so fun lol.

Based on this artwork I did for my final in a water media class in senior year of college. (Below)

I did this with gouache and colored pencils for a thematic project a year ago. I liked doing it ao im trying it again :]

I want to do paintings of all of them, but I figured at least half a sketchbook's page worth of drawing is a good start.

DEEP TIME was originally published as an accordion-fold comic glued into a circular shape, so the story could be read backwards and forwards from any starting panel. Physical editions of DEEP TIME printed in bright red and teal risograph are avaliable in my shop.

before i saw the caption I knew that HAD to be bernini.

I try not to make sweeping statements but I think there’s a case to be made for bernini as the greater sculptor there’s ever been.

this is the one art form I genuinely just cannot get my brain to accept as real. I’ve watched sped-up videos of it being done, read about it, seen in-progress marble statues and I still just can’t get it to sink in or stick. My mind doesn’t want to believe that any person has ever been able to start with a big block and break little bits off of it until it looks like a finely detailed person. At some point it has no recognizable shape and they still know where and how deep they should take a chip out of it that’ll still be the right decision 50,000 fucking chips later?!?

Hi yes I have been there and seen all of these IRL and I have some more pictures to share:

Insanely detailed feet with veins from “Aeneas, Anchises, and Ascanius”

Another foot from the same statue because a) he textured underside of the foot and the folds of skin in the arch and b) can you see the light coming through the thin marble between the toes?

Hand, sling, and rock from “David” which I think deserves to be at LEAST as well-known as Michelangelo’s. Saw them two days apart and I prefer Bernini, honestly.

We also got to see one of Bernini’s earliest works (possibly his very first) in the Uffizi; it’s not currently on display, unfortunately, but look at this:

Man was a straight-up wizard.

In conclusion: if you get the chance to visit the Borghese Gallery in Rome (which has the most Bernini sculptures gathered in one place), do it. The “Ecstasy of St. Theresa” is in a church a short walk away from there, too, and well worth a visit. There are also several more Berninis in churches around Rome which can be visited for free or for a nominal donation! Just… be smarter than we were and make sure you’re not trying to visit them on days they have services.
