Tea was a pretty big deal in Johto (from what little Rino knew about it, anyway), so he was pretty curious to just how different it was. Rino nodded as he followed Valerie — though the warp panels still made him feel a bit strange as they activated.
"The process is kind of a big thing with Johto teas, isn’t it?" he commented after they materialized in another room. "I do know how to brew tea myself, so… I can follow along pretty well. Or help if you want it."
The room they arrived in had a low table set up with cushions on either side. Tatami flooring covered the space, and there was a sliding door that led to another part of the room. That was where she kept all the supplies.
"Yes, it has been a tradition in Johto for many generations... At least in my family." Valerie slid the door open and brought out some of the things needed to make the tea. "I would appreciate the help, thank you."
▐ ❀✿▐ — ; "Ah, is that so?” she commented, bringing a sleeved hand towards her mouth and tilting her head slightly toward the side. How interesting how some small articles like that could have been around for so long. Most of the heirlooms Erika owned were through beautiful plants. “How very interesting. I have not seen anything like it.”
"I am unsure of who had it first, but this is the only heirloom I know of in my family." It was a bit odd compared to the typical object that was passed down. Some were expensive vases or other intricate items, and hers was... A hairpiece. "Ah, you are a gym leader as well, correct? What type do you train?"

"A Dragon-type’s worst nightmare! I remember when I was a kid, Dragon-types were only weak to Ice, though they can learn Fire attacks, and other Dragon attacks."

"I hope you are just not saying that because you are in my presence." Valerie joked, laughing a bit. "But yes, I can definitely see why fairy-types would be your favorite."

"Mm, well, jasmine’s always a good choice — but some of those I haven’t heard of before," Rino commented. "Are they foreign? I’d love to try some — so go on and make a few if you don’t mind!"
As much tea as he drank, Rino tended to stick with his favorites… If Valerie was offering to make different kinds, he’d definitely take the chance to try something new.
"Yes, some of them are of Johtonese origin. The tea from my homeland is much different than what is served in this region." Valerie smiled at the other.
"We have a tearoom, actually. If you would please follow me..." The leader stood for a moment, recalling which warp panels led to where, before taking a step into one.
"Yeah, this is Fée. He actually evolved into the Sylveon you see now just before I took on your Gym."
"Ah, is that right?" Valerie paused for a second. "Yes, I think I remember now. It was quite surprising to see another trainer with a Sylveon."
▐ ❀✿▐ — ; "Oh, as would I. Ah, and if it is not too much to ask, I would love to possibly see a few of your designs. They truly are gorgeous, and they seem to suit you very well. Did you happen to design the headpiece you wear as well?”
"That would not be a problem, my friend." Valerie loved showing her designs to people. Getting compliments and even feedback on her designs was one of the greatest things to her. "Ah, this one was not designed. This hairpiece has been in my family for many generations. The eldest daughter always received it first and would then pass it down to her daughter."
