“Compassion is not a relationship between the healer and the wounded. It’s a relationship between equals. Only when we know our own darkness well can we be present with the darkness of others. Compassion becomes real when we recognize our shared humanity.”
Pema Chodron
If we take good care of ourselves, we help everyone. We stop being a source of suffering to the world, and we become a reservoir of joy.

If you had not suffered as you have, there would be no depth to you as a human being, no humility, no compassion.

10 Ways To Strengthen Your Connection With Yourself
1. Self-love dates - showing ourselves some love. Taking ourselves out on self-love dates allows us time to be present with ourselves whilst doing what we love.
2. Nature - being at peace. Having a peaceful state of mind allows us to look within at what we truly desire.
3. Exercise - pushing the limits. Intense physical exercise helps us to access a state of consciousness where the mind chatter greatly decreases, this is when we can tune into our true heart’s desires.
4. Authenticity - being real. Being true to who we are and what we want out of life removes much of the resistance within us that weakens the connection we have with ourselves.
5. Meditation - true presence. Becoming the observer of our thoughts and actions reveals much about who we truly are, which can help us decide how to move forward.
6. Creativity - expression of the soul. Creativity of all types allows our true feelings to be displayed externally from the mind, which we can reflect on to better understand ourselves.
7. Mindfulness - being in the now. The present moment is where we experience the deepest and strongest connection with ourselves, we can tune into the now by using our senses.
8. Reflections - people, places & things. Everything and everyone that surrounds us is a reflection of who we are and we can observe these reflections as a parts of ourselves.
9. Emotions - feel the feeling. Our emotions are our inner guidance system, listening to them can help us to navigate through our journeys without feeling lost.
10. Relationships - another reflection. The relationships we have with others will highlight the relationship we have with ourselves, if our external relationships are unfulfilling in any way it is because the one we have with ourselves needs to be nurtured.
The most important relationship is the one we have with ourselves.
Peace & positive vibes.

People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don’t find myself saying, “Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner.” I don’t try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds.
Way of Being (Carl R. Rogers)
In nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect. Trees can be contorted, bent in weird ways, and they’re still beautiful.
