ITS IZZIE!!!!
Hey all, so I know it’s been forever! I’ve been struggling a lot lately, but it’s my horse that keep me going.
RUBIX UPDATE - Rubix is coming to Southlands in March! I’m so excited to get to work with my little boy every day. More pics/videos to come as soon as I find my camera. )Jojo if you read this I think it’s at your house!). He’s well under saddle, lets you tack him up, sit on him (I haven’t yet), and we are currently driving him, and he’s longeing over poles! he loves it. He really is learning how to play, he runs around and bucks and rears, and jumps all over the place, then comes and slides to a stop in front of you for your approval and some love. He’s really very silly.
TRUMAN UPDATE - Truman is as awesome as ever, had a few weeks where he tried to aihalate me on a daily basis, but we’ve gotten over that, thankfully. Jumping a solid 3’6”-3’9” and some 4ft+ jumps. Tru seriously is a pegasus in disguise. He flies! Couldn’t care less about the little jumps, but 3’6” and up he’s very happy to work beyond your expectations. Went over this massive 4ft something oxer on Tuesday, thought we would never land!!!! Jumped him 5ft before, but this was the perfect jump, perfect aproach and take-off, perfect momentum and synchronization. I have awful 2-point, and I was able to release over this jump because I felt like I could trust him with my life. It was breathtaking. My mom teared up. I was so beyond happy. I love this horse, he really has saved my life these last 4 years. He’s challenged me as a rider, beyond what I ever thought any horse could. Beyond that though, he challenged me as a person. He taught me to trust my instincts, to be patient, and how to problem solve. I never could do that. He kissed me when I hurt, came back when I fell, and waited for me to stand up. He protected me from everything he could, and snuffled away my tears. Truma encouraged my fails, and taught me how to right my wrongs. I wouldn’t be who I am today. I wouldn’t have Rubix if Tru hadn’t given me this confidence in myself.
I also have to thank Johnboy and the school ponies before him. They were all so special. They started me off, and taught me riding was a challenge. I’ve never, ever, ridden a horse I have not trained myself, or is in the process of being trained; other than the school ponies, who were just beyond naughty. I’ve learnt perseverance, and when I’ve wanted to quit, I remember these horses rely on me.
So that’s my long post for the next while. It’s great being able to post for you guys.
