I don't need a lover. I get all the romance I need sitting on the porch smoking, listening to the rain.

We move back at the end of July. I'm going to enjoy the fuck out of this every day until then.

Finally eating this box of Junior Mints. Usually when I've saved something too long it ends up not being worth the wait but these are delicious.

My version of a Parisian breakfast, swapping iced mocha for espresso and the bong for a ciggie. Happy 49th birthday to me.

I was very sparkly this evening.

I cooked 5 kilos of bacon yesterday.

I checked myself into the ER with shortness of breath about half an hour after this picture. I still think it's funny.

It's a joke that they think I'm gonna do free shit for them in exchange for a fucking joke.

It's confounding that one drawer turned out smooth and glossy and exactly as envisioned while the other bubbled and scuffed and smudged and dripped so badly it needs to be sanded down and repainted.

I used my same skills and supplies on both drawers on the same day in the same place. Totally different outcomes. I was there, yet I have no idea how this happened; what went wrong or what went right.

I'm finding this shelf very pleasing. Including the becoming the base of the lamp, I like knowing it won't fall when I inevitably knock it.

I have a lamp problem. I love them all.

Midnight curry on Family Day, Toronto 2026. My kid and my Dad carried on their Family Day tradition of going to the Auto Show. The first year they went my kid came home and told me "That changed my life." Then there was no Auto Show because of Covid for a couple of years. They've gone every year since it started again. Last year and today my kid makes choices which will be the easiest for my Dad; walking less, taking breaks, leaving earlier. It's so cool this year that we're living here. I dropped them off at the door this morning and picked them up from a nearby stop on the recently-opened Line 5. A few years ago my Dad went to Kitchener the first week their LRT system was running, to ride it and check it out. Taking Line 5 today would be a highlight for him, he's curious about everything, he shows interest in everything. It's his superpower. However in 40 years I have never known my intellectual father to show any interest in sports or cars, until we moved back to Canada to live with them, and my kid's big interests are cars and sports. I want to thank my Dad for taking my kid to watch hockey and soccer games and the Auto Show (so I didn't have to), and for watching him play hockey (I was watching him too) and for giving me Family Day alone every year, honestly I look forward to this every February.

I'm going to add a hashtag for the first time. It'll be refreshing not to be asked if I'm sure I want to post without hashtags for once.

Snapshot of today. The first day with a new wallet is always weird. The cards are in the same order but not quite the same place. The pocket and zipper are different. It's my best friend's favourite colour and I keep thinking I'm using something of hers. I don't recognize it as mine by default yet; I don't expect to feel comfortable on Day One of anything. It's a process.

Can I collect a rainbow of this bag? I'm not really going to try but I enjoy the green one so much that finding the purple one excited me.

I bought this at a thrift store because I could think of people to give it to, in my fantasy award shows. I knew I'd regret not having it. I love being right sometimes, about knowing myself well. I would have regretted not having it, I enjoy having it so much, probably even more because I nearly left it. Aren't I glad I didn't? Hell yeah!

I'm loving this loop I've been walking at night, for two stretches one side is nature (woods, ravine, river). I usually walk it after 10pm, before midnight. There's enough cars for it to be safe, rarely other pedestrians. Sometimes when I take a selfie I think about what if I get killed and this is my last picture? If I get killed walking this loop I hope a coyote mauls me or a deer tramples me rather than being murdered by another human. Death by animal is at least less malicious and more natural, forgivable and understandable in a way murder isn't.

I've been (overthinking) about starting some kind of peer support group for late-diagnosed neurodivergent people. Nothing fancy, basically a talking circle. I'd try to split groups up, eg employed people in one group, unemployed in their own. I know my neurodivergent needs and pitfalls were different when I was working as opposed to now. Honestly, everything feels easier now. Obviously money is stressful but it was when I worked too, I was slogging my guts out to not get paid enough to meet very modest means. My kid and I live in the basement apartment of my parent's house, I pay my Dad $800 a month. If we were renting the same space from a landlord we'd be paying double and unable to afford food.
