Another day on JJK sets with Megumi’s happy floofs 🎬☀️☀️
Nanami without his glasses. (bold of you to assume that sorcerers don't lose their sight from stress)
"Itadori Yuuji's resolve had reached its limit a long time ago."
"we should consider marriage."
you blink. nanami's knife never loses its rhythm.
you put down your pen and cushion your chin on one hand, eyeing him. he's unbothered. he keeps prepping the ingredients for dinner, his forearms flexing with each pass of the knife. the tight ridge of his broad shoulders always loosens in the kitchen.
"for us or for someone else, kento?" you ask, biting back your little smile.
he levels an unimpressed look your way. "for us."
"it took me a year to convince you to date me," you say. "you can't blame me for checking."
(i don't want you to get hurt, he says on a humid summer day. he gazes out into the campus courtyard, eyes hidden beneath the gleam of his sunglasses.
you suck the watermelon juice off your sticky fingers. i'm aware, you say, nonchalant. but sometimes being hurt just means you've lived well.
he looks at you differently, after that.)
nanami hums; the oil sizzles as he adds the vegetables to the pan. the steam wisps around him. there's the smallest upward tilt to his lips, and his dark eyes make you think of warm summer nights, heavy and honeyed.
he sets a lid over the pan, rinses his hands, and pads over to you. you open your legs to let him press between. he lays a heavy hand on your thigh, his thumb slipping under the hem of your shorts.
"so," you say, "we're considering, huh?"
"yes," he says. "i'd like to know that when something happens to me, you'll be taken care of. being legally married helps ensure that."
you wind your arms around his neck, pull him further into the cradle of your hips.
"oh, is that all?"
"yes," he says, deadpan. he tugs you closer still. "that's the only reason."
you laugh and hook your legs around his hips. "you realize that with you, this is basically an actual proposal, kento."
nanami leans down, catches you in a deep, aching kiss.
"basically."
AU where Sokka’s high-on-cactus-juice encounter with the giant mushroom takes a dark turn. (Also he has a gun)

Taking a break from angst to write PURE NANAGO FLUFF! Planning to do a few short domestic drabbles~
The subtleties of Geto Suguru
So, this is me rambling about some aspects about Geto that I’ve been thinking about for a while now (and I’ve seen these being talked about here and there) - mainly: whether his change post-SPV arc was a complete turn on his previous characteristics, what his ideals were and meant to him, some musings on his personality and a tiny bit about how Gojo contrasted him.
Might be nothing new. Or might be a little controversial, I don’t know. Bear with me, this is long, lol.
We’re all familiar with this conversation:
“Protect the weak [and keep the strong in check].”
It’s interesting how Geto has had this rigid black-and-white thinking from the start: there exist those who are strong (jujutsu sorcerers) and those who are weak (non-jujutsu sorcerers), with no nuances in-between, and as the stronger one, he should protect the weak. It’s not, ‘I want to’ but more on the lines of, ‘I have to’.
When I first read this arc, I didn’t pay much attention to this but in hindsight… Geto was very fixated on [the concept of] power/strength and jujutsu/non-jujutsu sorcerers, pre- and post-SPV. He verbalizes it a lot too. It’s notable that this is an aspect of his [early] character that is rarely acknowledged, though. Perhaps because of the ‘packaging’ it’s wrapped in? Protecting others is something good and humble, after all.
This is such a measured and insightful analysis on Geto’s character. To add on, whenever I think of Geto’s black-and-white viewpoint, I always remember this line from Nanami where he talks a teenage Yuji through his trauma by acknowledging that there is no right answer, that judgment is not theirs to pass. The anime translation, which I think is a bit more fluent, reads
“Even if good people dying in peace and evil people being punished with death is the proper way, most of the people in this world are neither good nor evil.”
It’s such a simple truth, yet Geto’s tragedy occurs because he never grasps it.

I started writing an alternate ending fic for Wonder Egg Priority! There isn’t a big AO3 community for WEP, and what exists is focused on ships, so I’m not sure if this will interest anyone 👉👈 but I’d really value any feedback!

I want a story about a king whose son is prophesied to kill him so the king is like “whatever what am I supposed to do, kill my own kid wtf is wrong with you” so he just raises him as normal, doesn’t even tell him about the prophecy, and instead of some convoluted twist of events that leads to the king’s murder the son grows up and when the king is very old and dying and in excruciating pain the kid is just like alright I'mma put him out of his misery.
The king’s son becomes the new king, and is prophesied to defeat evil and bring an age of prosperity. His generals and knights all crack their knuckles but he pretty much ignores them and focuses on strengthening the infrastructure of his kingdom. Forty years later he is old and sick but still hearing his subjects’ grievances, and a general’s like “how will you defeat the prophesied evil now? You’re old and weak.” Another visitor, a teenager fresh out of the kingdom’s public education system, looks at the general like he is an ignoramus. The king eradicated poverty, housed the homeless, taught the ignorant, ended class exploitation by abolishing the nobility and imprisoning the corrupt, and established a highly respected guild of doctors that recently figured out how to cure the plague. There are no brigands because there is enough wealth for everyone to live comfortably; hiding in the woods and taking trinkets from people simply doesn’t make any sense for anyone but the desperate, and the people are not desperate. Evil is a weed, explains the teenager. It grows in cracked roads and crumbling houses and forgotten corners, rooted in indifference and watered by suffering. But the king demands that broken things be mended and suffering people be made well.
No evil lives in this kingdom, says the teenager. It starved to death before I was born.
Every once in a while, when I’m feeling down, I go and look at the notes on this post and they make me feel a lot better. This is the energy I want to carry into 2018.
“Evil is a weed, explains the teenager. It grows in cracked roads and crumbling houses and forgotten corners, rooted in indifference and watered by suffering.” GAHHH HOW MAGNIFICENT
