Demon slayer au where everything is the same except the slayers are also armed with spray bottles filled with wisteria oil
Did you ever finish that drawing of Karaku? I can't find it
I let it simmer for a week and came back to it and hated it with every fiber of my being, and so it will never see the light of day again. However, I am working on a different Karaku that I'm very happy with so far and will definitely be posted at some point! You'd think Urogi would be my test model since I love him so deeply, but no, Karaku somehow convinced me to draw HIS obnoxious ass.
Tanjiro noted during the battle that Urogi had rather small wings for his body size, but I think that he can probably alter his wingspan to suit him depending on the environment he is in. For example, he likely has a very wide wingspan in open places like coastal regions, canyons, and unwooded valleys (or high in the air where there's no obstacles to begin with), but would shorten his wings in close quarters like forests or villages where larger wings would be a hinderance. His preferred wing length actually vibrates the air as he flies.
What does the 'forbidden mountain' charlie and akihiko live on actually look like? Will you ever draw it?
Hello!
The island is located at the bottom of mainland Japan, several miles away from Yakushima island, which shares the same climate and therefore is very visually similar.
Theres an abandoned village on the north end of the island, and in the center is an inactive volcanic crater devoid of life. This is where Charlie is trained against demons, away from the woodlands to protect the forest and life on the island!
An unusual type of Yokai, the 'False Kirin' was so named due to its resemblance to records of the mythic beast. Unlike its namesake and ungulate-type body might suggest, the False Kirin are omnivorous, with a heavy focus on meat. They eat small mammals and fish alongside certain plants. They are a matriarchal species, with one female to every herd and strong sexual dimorphism. These herd leaders will mark territory by using her horns, which hold the fire of the sun. This unfortunately can start wildfires, leading to the herd being hunted. Their use of fire has earned them the nickname 'dragon horses'. Despite being carnivorous, they are rarely a threat to humans- in fact, they only attack to defend their young. An adult female is roughly the size of a moose, with the males being significantly smaller. Male False Kirin will battle each other for the herd leaders favor, but it's ultimately up to her who to mate with. The outcome of a rut battle rarely has sway over her decision, and she very well may choose the loser. Males also have less power over fire and will only exert the effort in dire situations. They reside deep in mountains away from frequent travelers.
It's unknown how these creatures came about, but they are able to kill weak members of Muzan's ilk, and they do so with violent gusto.
Can we please hear about your modern au sekido?
Gosh im sorry, this is such an old ask!
- Got shocked by electricity as a young teen by trying to prevent Urogi from putting a fork in the socket. He saved his dumb, curious little brother, but lost part of his vision.
- became farsighted and now, as an adult, has both normal glasses AND reading glasses
- looks good in both but is self conscious of needed glasses and often just refuses to
- he still squints at what hes reading whether he has his glasses on or not
- his brothers make fun of him because he literally looks like these when he tries to look at their report cards
Thanks for the ask!
"I dont like sekido" yeah, sure dude
:P
I would trust Sekido far before I trusted ANY of the other clones.
I really do not talk about charlie and giyuu enough
Hi!! I really love your headcanons and character analysis! Can I ask which of the clones do you think it's the most dangerous overall?
Hello! Thank you! If we're talking about the fatality of their specific BDA's, it would be Sekido! I think most people heavily underestimate just how incredibly dangerous even a small electrical shock is to the body. Small shocks can cause your heart to suddenly stop hours after an incident, even if you felt totally fine after. I don't doubt that there's been Slayers who thought they got away, only for them to drop dead before the next morning. Tanjiro realistically should've been dead or completely unable to fight after the first time Sekido shocked him, or at the VERY least had some sort of permanent or chronic damage (pain, tingling/numbness, seizures, heart damage, muscle weakness or paralysis.) It's insane that there's never any mention of it after the battle, when he was hit with strong electricity several times! What do you mean you have scars from Urogi's talons but nothing is wrong after being shocked unconscious several times?! Also a potential horror: degloving. If you know, you know. If you don't, don't look at images.
The second most dangerous is Aizetsu, but his reasons are a little less hidden. It's... hard to argue that a skillset that turns someone into swiss cheese is in any way survivable. It's unfortunate that we never see if he is able to do other moves with his Yari, or if the strength of Weeping Spears can be adjusted or if he can aim where the hits land. This does beg the question, though: Why did Aizetsu wait so long to unleash his BDA, and why was it only once (to our knowledge)? He could've completely destroyed Genya (who was struggling to stand after the first one), and he clearly doesn't care for torturing his opponent, so why did he not end it? I think it's safe to assume either way that WS is fatal 99.9% of the time.
Third is Karaku. Wind and air pressure is another overlooked danger, but I am putting Karaku above Urogi due to the fact that he never softens his wind in battle (in fact, we don't know whether he can do so outside battle in the first place, but it IS a headcanon I greatly enjoy). I estimate that his wind blasts are likely always on the upside of 150mph. 90mph has been recorded moving around small vehicles. There's plenty of videos of people trying to walk in 100mph winds and being knocked off their feet. If you're familiar with the damage tornadoes can cause (in which the strongest winds ever recorded was around 320mph), then it's easy to imagine what Karaku could do without ever touching you or without you ever even having to see him (though, he prefers close combat). Powerful wind blasts that pick up debris from the surrounding area like sand, or sticks, stones, etc, that lacerate, puncture, and act like a sandblaster to any poor Slayer caught too close. This wind could also cause headaches and disorientation, and difficulty breathing. The vast majority of the danger coming from Karaku's attacks would rely on outside damage (being thrown against something, impaled, etc). That aside, his wind blasts are also more than capable of causing internal injuries without external evidence. I'll put Urogi last on the assumption that he's toying with his victim and that we don't see everything he's capable of. If we had evidence that he could use subsonic vibration, infrasound, or ultrasound, I would put him above Karaku immediately, but as it is, his abilities have pretty limited effects although they could become truly devastating if he were to continually expose his opponent to it (again, we are assuming he's playing). We obviously see that he can easily cause unconsciousness for a short period of time- which is indirectly lethal as he uses that to render you unable to defend yourself- render you deaf, or even possibly stun you temporarily. High chance for the victim to also feel quite nauseous. His scream would have to be at least 150dB to be able to cause unconsciousness, which can cause lung tissue to rupture and cause trauma to other organs, but is unlikely without prolonged exposure. ~140db can theoretically displace dirt, which we see happen in canon. We have no evidence that he can get louder than that, so unfortunately for Urogi, unless he is drawing out his victim's exposure to his sonic scream (which seems to rely on how much his lungs can expand and therefore would always be limited to a few seconds at most), it's not very fatal overall and likely won't have lasting consequences aside from hearing loss. It's difficult to even ascertain what would be a fatal sound level because it varies so much for normal humans. I imagine that's even more uncertain for trained Slayers.
Thanks for enabling me to yap~
I've been thinking lately about how a lot of the fandom interprets Sekido as a man who shouts at any little thing, at any given time- like a line about to snap at the barest pressure. I do not agree. Sekido has a lot of patience for being the manifestation of (Hantengu's) anger. And despite being 'anger', he mostly seems to be very frustrated, which then gives way to his anger. The buildup to that ire is actually quite slow, all things considered. We canonically see this with how he bides his time in battle and simply monitors and directs until he HAS to step in. He even allows Karaku and Urogi to play a bit before becoming annoyed with them when they don't take the battle seriously.
A lot of the fandom characterizes him as someone who shouts a lot, at practically any provocation, but we see in canon that he does not even really raise his voice until he is beyond frustrated with the antics of the other clones. He is stern, strict, and commanding, but he is not a walking time-bomb. Even when Aizetsu complains and tells him to "stop yelling/complaining", Sekido has yet to do anything more than slightly raise his voice from frustration at his counterpart's failure to have killed Genya immediately after realizing the kid was still alive the first time.
And you know what? That's valid. I, too, get pissed off when my dumbass coworkers keep messing things up, and this is a high-stakes battle where there is a lot of pressure on Hantengu to complete the task he's been given, at the probability of severe punishment or even possibly death if he failed but survived the SMV fight. If Hantengu had been UM3 or 2, I wouldn't be so quick to consider that would be a probability, but Muzan replaced him almost immediately after his demise, and so I don't think it's outside the realm of Muzan's personality to cull Hantengu for being 'weak' or a 'failure' and replace him with a different demon should he not complete what is supposed to be a very simple task. I don't think that Sekido is oblivious to that possibility. He certainly has the most calculating and careful mind of the 4 and I would argue he is the most outwardly intelligent of them. Not to say that the others are stupid- none of them are dumb. Their mistakes come from underestimating their opponents, and from their own ego's, which you tend to get when you're 200+ years old and virtually untouchable. When you compare their capabilities to even the best human slayer, the clones are practically gods. Ignoring Zoha, the only reason Tanjiro and Co. survived the 4 is through plot armor alone. Tanjiro would've been killed in the Sekido's very first attack- he was canonically losing consciousness, which would've been the end right there.
After Genya shoots his arm to stop his lightning, we hear Sekido's inner monologue. He is not shouting, even in his head. He sounds rather calm and thoughtful, actually- assessing the situation instead of going berserk with rage. The first time he seems to truly angry and raise his voice into a shout (though I believe it is slightly below that level) is when Karaku is hit with Nezuko's attack and blown away from the fight with his own weapon. Immediately after is the first time he actively joins the fight, because now he has to. It's only after Tanjiro beheads him that his rising ire seems to turn into true wrath, and he begins to shout both externally and internally. The other common headcanon that tends to bother me is the idea that Sekido despises the others- especially Karaku. That doesn't seem correct. I think he's just annoyed with Karaku's behavior and lack of urgency in such a key battle. We see after he's blown the building apart that Karaku and Sekido patrol side-by-side (practically shoulder to shoulder) and that Sekido even offers him praise for doing well (another HC that bugs me is the idea that Sekido would never praise someone else or that he's incapable entirely of voicing praise. He just doesn't give empty praise or compliments he doesn't feel is deserved! If he's proud of you or something you've accomplished, I don't think he has much issue telling you!). We also see that when Sekido begins to panic, it isn't Urogi or Aizetsu that he calls frantically for (albeit internally)- it's Karaku. Throughout the entire fight, he is with Karaku and teaming his attacks with him. Not either of the other two, who fight completely separate of the others and each other. I think this speaks well to his opinion about the 'pleasure' clone. Karaku is the counterpart he trusts the most and is the most willing to have to rely on. We don't see enough interaction between Urogi and Sekido for me to have much of an opinion on the specifics of their interactions, but from Sekido calling Urogi to attack when Tanjiro begins running after the main body, I do think that Urogi may be the physically fastest clone. Of course, he could also have simply been the closest, but Tanjiro does note that the Joy clone is extraordinarily fast. Same with Aizetsu- we don't see any interaction between Sekido and him aside from Sekido being shocked and confused that Aizetsu has allowed himself to lower his guard enough to be shot. Regardless, I would heavily disagree that Sekido hates Urogi and Aizetsu based on his interactions with Karaku, but it's certainly a pity their relationships weren't explored a bit more. Urogi and Aizetsu do not interact at all in any scene they are in, which is, again, a pity. It would have been very interesting to see two polar opposite emotions speak with each other. I suppose that's what we have fanfic for.
Rewatching the SMV for a quick analysis of Sekido and..
Karaku has extraordinarily good aim with his fan.
Imagine if he'd hit Sekido, who is only 3 or so feet away from Tanjiro and Nezuko when he sent them through the floor. I dont think Sekido would be immune to Karaku's wind in the way that the others are immune to lightning.
I think it could also be a testament to that, even though he's constantly irritated by his behavior, he does trust Karaku's skill in battle.
I just want everyone to know that my nickname for the Hantengu clones is "The Four Whores of the Apocalypse."
Are you still working on your pet au fanfic? I'm still eagerly waiting! and for more art! You're a very good artist and i hope one day you'll be able to be happy with what you do because i know i look forward to every new post!
I am still here <3 you're very kind Unfortunately, i am currently dealing with severe cognitive issues with no currently known causes that is making it difficult for me to do...well... anything. In the last few months its become difficult for me to look at my screen for long or concentrate on anything I want to do. It's quite miserable, to be completely honest. And very scary. But I recently was able to get financial aid to be able to go to the doctor. No results yet but im trying to be hopeful that something is found. I dearly wish i could be here more and post more stuff for those of you who still enjoy it. Thank you for your support, it really means the world to me, especially during these times.
Has anyone else noticed that the Hashira's uniforms (and Main squad's) are tinted their blade/Breath color?
