Sharing this topical never-before-heard brand new snippet from my HUNTER S. THOMPSON musical. What do YOU want to see a nation of? #joeiconi
Hareheart and Wavesong of Brookclan
Hareheart is a Senior Warrior who Used to be Wavesongs Mentor, now the they are mates who go through everything together.
Another WIP! I..have never actually done a comic before, so I'm having a hard time finding a balance between my usual semi-realistic art style and a style that's easier/more realistic in terms of comic-making. I'll definitely be doing my usual full-illustration type artwork for the most important panels. I feel weirdly self-conscious of writing sound effects? But I do like the way it looks/
Mizushābi's evolution and subsequent earthquake affected several small villages along the coastline.
Charlie joins rescue attempts after the tsunami water recedes enough for her to escape to drier land to save as many people as she can from the liquefaction caused by the quake, which swallowed entire houses and their occupants whole.
The most traumatic part of those 3 days was not surviving an attack by Upper Moon 4, but hearing the voices of those who survived being sucked underground as she stood above them until they stopped- suffocated by the earth.
Those muffled screams haunt Charlie years afterward.
Favorite fic thoughts of the night:
1. Charlie falling asleep on the couch and accidentally slumping against a clone who is there only to hide from the sun. It's not Karaku, nor Urogi, both of whom would cuddle. It's not Aizetsu either, who might squeak his surprise but otherwise allow her to rest. No, it's Sekido that Charlie has fallen against, has curled her hand on the sleeve of his kimono. The clone she's spent the least time with, is most afraid of, and is convinced hates her most (and honestly he DOES half the time. They don't see eye to eye on anything the few times they meet, Charlie vibing with Urogi and Karaku most. BUT he appreciates that Charlie seems to be able to control Urogi when he can't. At the very least, she keeps him.... mostly... out of trouble. Not that he'd ever say it.)
She falls against Sekido who, despite his denial, feels some of the same fondness for her that his counterparts have. Of course he does. They're the same person, after all.
When a rough hand passes over her hair with a grumble, she thinks she's just dreaming and falls back asleep. Eventually, she slips off him, and he leaves.
It's the only outward affection he ever shows her, and she will never know about it.
It is also the last time they see each other in this life.
2. Charlie mentioning to Karaku in one of their spats that his Hakama are 'crying out for help', loose as they are around his waist.
Karaku, daring her to 'do something about it, then', and then his face burning when she marches inches from him to yoink his pants up his hips and tie them harshly as she stares directly in his eyes
Karaku, leaving the estate in an uncharacteristic, speechless hurry, obsessing over the interaction, realizing he underestimated the amount of gall the girl could have
Karaku, starting to become just as enamored with Charlie as Urogi is.
