che sakht, che talkh, insan budan
چه سخت ، چه تلخ ، انسان بودن
how difficult, how bitter it is to be a human
We are filled with flaws…
It is only Allah who veils them.
some souls are sent to you by God, as a cure, they reach your depths and calmly heal your wounds.
Al-Maqrizi's wife died young. He would always seek God’s forgiveness for her.
He saw her in a dream, and said: “O Umm Muhammad, does what I send to you reach you?”
She cried: “Yes, everyday your gifts reach me; but I know I'm unable to repay you!”
So he said: “Don't worry, we shall meet again!”
Durar al-Uqood al-Fare’da fi Tarajim al-Ai’yaan al-Mufida
Ibn Khurayb al-Asma’i: I met a 120 year old Bedouin and asked him: “What’s the secret to your long life?”
He said: “I left off jealousy, and here I am.”
Rabi al-Abrar (v. 1, p. 286)
Some people said: Arabic is the best language because God spoke with it (in the Qur’an).
This makes no sense, because God has explained to us that He has not sent any Messenger except in the language of His people.
So God has spoken and revealed in different languages. He revealed the Torah, the Gospel and the Psalms.
God spoke to Moses in Hebrew, and to Abraham in Syriac. So languages are equivalent from this perspective.
Ibn Hazm - al-Ihkaam (v. 1, p. 32)
this is honest to god what we should all feel like at all times
“talk about it”? hahah, no no, I prefer to internalize all my problems so they eat away at me from the inside until I’m unable to function in any way
