Akechi chooses to lie, kill, and blackmail to push his way to the top just to be able to speak with the king like Akira does. Akira, having been born with the privilege of being a retainer, doesn’t know the struggle Akechi has gone through to get where he is. Although, he still feels as if Akechi didn’t have to use awful methods to obtain what he wanted. Even so, Akechi claims that despite Akira being born and raised to fulfill this role, that Akechi can do it better than him.

I guess… we’ll see how that goes.
