The way my classes this semester look in my calendar is endlessly funny to me. Fuck man I'm sorry, I can't hang out on September 22nd, I'm so busy.
Do employers know that employees are actually reusable if you let them rest? Like if you don't use them up completely all at once, and give them time to rest and recover before the next work day, they just kinda grow back? That's how they used to do it back in the day, you could hire five people to do five people's workload, and then keep the same five people for 40 years without issue, instead of having 2-3 people doing five people's work and have to constantly keep looking for replacements since you keep running them to the ground, completely using up like 10-20 employees per year.
We still have access to all the same technology and materials that they were using back in the day. Literally nothing requires us to operate the way things work now.
A treat for myself for finishing work early, statement.
sometimes you really do just have to burst into tears about it. and then it's literally fine
truly one of the most demoralising things about being in the job market atm is "only successful applicants will be notified" is practically a universal standard. so you spend hours, sometimes days filling out applications, writing CVs and cover letters only to be ghosted as the only form of communication. Not even a "thank you but this time you've been unsuccessful" email. You're in a constant state of "did I not get it or have they not contacted me?" and you just have to eventually conclude you were unsuccessful without so much as courtesy, "sorry, but thank you for your application." A literal thankless cycle for months and months and months. You'd think with all the ways to automate these processes they would at least have the time, means and decency to acknowledge your submission and let you off the hook, but no. You're just in limbo in every possible way in the name of "efficiency". Solidarity with everyone going through this because it is truly dehumanising and demoralising to work so hard on putting yourself forward constantly without acknowledgement or useful communication of any sort for long periods of time, and most ppl simply will not have any compassion for what that's like.
The province of Ontario has mandated that a company has to get back to an applicant at most 6 weeks from the date of the application. I would suggest people who live elsewhere try pushing for that in whatever provincial or state government you have. Does it fix the employment crisis? Absolutely not, but at least its more dignified than never hearing anything back.
what's the best star wars movie? easy. the memory of the memory of the memory of the memory of watching a star wars movie as a child. all the rest are, of course, derivative drivel
a talking point i often see when defending the consumption of dark content is that it’s a coping mechanism for those with trauma which is very valid and true but i also want to make this abundantly clear: you can like dark content for no reason. you can enjoy fucked up shit in fiction because it’s enjoyable and entertaining. trauma is not required as a ticket for entry. enjoy your dark content bc it’s fun and sexy and don’t let anyone take that away from you
sometimes the reason is this

I don’t want to harass the person who’s claiming that 90% of AO3 users came from Wattpad so I’m making my own post about it
Have you ever used Wattpad to publish your fanfic?
I use Wattpad, and I never used AO3
I used to use Wattpad, and I have moved to AO3 now
I currently use both Wattpad and AO3
I've never used Wattpad, and I mostly/always use AO3
I've never used Wattpad or AO3
