“I don’t think so, he might have left early due to a family emergency or whatever.” she replied to the younger male with a small grin as she put the red solo cup full of alcohol to her lips. “Yeah, you can say that again, I’ve been to parties way more fun than this one.” she replied as she took a couple of Cheez-Its from a bowl and ate a couple. “You eat real goldfish?”

Well that was... unfortunate. Sawyer almost felt bad for a second, but human emotions were still new to him, so he just shrugged it off. “Hope everything’s okay,” he offered, but only because he was pretty sure that’s what he was supposed to say in response to something like that. Being a human was hard sometimes. So many things they were supposed to do. “Once. It was a dare,” he replied, remembering the game Elodie played earlier in the night. “What do you have there?” he asked, gesturing towards her cup to change the subject.

 shocked to have a few minutes to herself, she knew it to be too good when they began to talk to her. “yes, it’s turned out rather well – ” she smiled at his mention of the snacks but held off from mentioning that the food was her doing. partially because she thinks he had just admitted to eating real goldfish. this school was truly bizarre at times. she choked a little on her lemon water, , he had to be joking. sorcha was uneasy in deciding that it was in fact a joke. “if i had known you had a taste for them i would have stopped by the pet store.” sorcha teased nervously, hiding all looks of revulsion at the idea.

The moment of silence that passed between them was almost nonexistent but it was there, and for a second Sawyer thought that he was going to scare her way. No such luck. She seemed to be amused by the conversation, if not a little bit weirded out but he was used to that. “Aww, that's so nice. Don’t worry, I can make my own trip to the pet store tomorrow,” he replied, realizing she was probably kidding a little too late. “Wait, you are joking right? If not this conversation could get really awkward.” Not that he was joking. And it was awkward. Thanks to him opening his big mouth. “The crackers will do for now,” he reassured her. “

     “ You certainly know how to make yourself comfortable.” Amara was only there to search. Who would be the next anchor and find out about her doppelgangers. “ I’ve been to better celebrations.” 

“It’s kind of a talent of mine, finding places to make myself comfortable,” he replied, turning his body to face her with one elbow propped on the back of the couch. “Celebrations? I believe they call this a party. Everyone else seems to be having fun,” he noted.

Summer nodded. “I know. Weird, right?” she asked, she honestly had no idea why so many people had been barging in her room by accident. I mean, she didn’t look like every blonde in the school, did she? “I’m afraid I don’t, sorry, but maybe try asking the DA?”

“A little weird,” he agreed, and almost cracked a smile but caught himself. He wasn’t a smiler. “Right, of course. The DA... what’s a DA?” He was learning more every day, but some things, mostly slang and abbreviations, still caught him off guard.

“no it isn’t.” she said after he’d already sat down. the girl was sitting on the couch with her knees brought up to her chest and a handful of crackers in her hand as she picked at them. “you’ve eaten real goldfish? thats not normal man.”

Sawyer stretched out on the couch, kicking his feet up on the table in front of them. “You haven’t?” he countered with a small smile tugging on the corners of his lips. “No, I was just kidding,” he lied. “Small talk or whatever. I’m bad at it.”

“you know that you are supposed to wait until the person answers before sitting down right?” matthias said to the boy, taking a deep breath as he took in the others sent. “you’re a familiar –– cat to be specific.”

“I was going to sit either way,” he replied with a shrug. Eyebrows pulled together as he studied the older male. “-You’re a smart one. What gave me away?” he asked, suddenly remembering that he was supposed to be a little more discreet about his feline ways.

“Well i wouldn’t call it lame,” Caroline said looking up at him, frowning at his words. “But that’s your choice in thinking a party is lame instead of seeing it as fun,” she said. “There is a real brand of goldfish crackers?”

“It’s kind of lame,” he countered with a shrug, looking over at her. “But to each their own I guess. If you’re having fun, good for you.” He bit down on his lip and cocked his head to the side. “Uh, yeah. Real goldfish. I think these are the store brand,” he played it off, shoving a few more in his mouth.

Jesse had finally succumed to the alochol and plopped himself onto the sofa for a few minutes respite. He turned to look at the other as he spoke and ate. “I think it’s kinda cool… the punch is a-maze-ing” he admitted. “You eat goldfish? that’s grossss.” he admitted with a chuckle.

Honestly, Sawyer was just happy to see a familiar face. Jesse was always entertaining at least. Eyes widened slightly before he shrugged it off. He too had been enjoying the punch, thanks to Jasper, and he had never been the most subtle person in Mystic Falls. “Hey, don’t knock it ‘til you try it.” He added, popping another cracker into his mouth. “So you’re having fun then?”

the young witch merely gave a shrug of her shoulders, “she doesn’t have to know about it besides…i don’t see the harm in just a small kiss.” elodie’s nose crinkled at the question, “i…that’s a good question. i’m NEW to this game. honestly…i’m sort of over it. i say we complete this dare, i tell them to go fuck themselves and we can go get a drink or something.”

“I don’t think it would be just a small kiss, El. It’d be my first kiss,” he admitted with a shrug. He had spent most of his life as a cat, and had spent the past three years trying to learn how to be human. Kissing wasn’t exactly a priority. He lifted his eyes to hers again. “As long as I don’t have to play, I’ll complete the dare with you.” He chuckled slightly. “Then we can go get a drink or something,” he agreed. “Have some real fun.”

“you’re doing great, i promise.” val said with a reassuring nod. she then grabbed both of his hands and smiled a little. the blonde wasn’t one for frequent pep talks, but it was the least she could do for sawyer. sure, they bickered sometimes, a lot of the time. but they were bound for life. “your roommates will be fine, we can still do all the same stuff we used to do when i was at home, you’ll be** fine**, but go easy on the catnip, you’ll be labelled as permanently weird” she advised. “and if my roommates are ever out of the dorm, i promise you’ll be the first i can tell so you can come up and stay.” 

She took his hands and his first instinct was to pull his away. He didn’t like being touched, but though he would never admit it out loud, he had grown rather fond of his witch, and the gesture was comforting. “You’re lying, but I appreciate it,” he replied, tossing a wink her way. “My roommates are weird,” he grumbled, but honestly he was probably the weirdest of the three. He just didn’t see it that way. “Fine, I’m going to hold you to that. And you have a free pass to come to my dorm whenever you want, but someone did tell me to avoid any room with a sock on the door knob.”

elias paused, trying to figure out the other guy’s angle… his brows furrowed as the other played very much so the aggressor, then, he seemed to lighten up. “hey man, i really am sorry, i’m sort of just a people person, get excited, didn’t mean to er, rustle any feathers.” he promised. then, thrown for another loop elias once again had to take a brief moment to process. “hey man, if you never wanted to see me again, i’d respect that, but i’m all for fun! let’s head in?”

“I would appreciate it if you didn’t knock me on my ass again, but we go to the same school. We’re going to see each other again regardless of what I want,” he pointed out, not caring how crass he sounded. He wasn’t really good at the whole making friends thing. He was a cat first, human second. He didn’t like people as a species. Nothing personal. “After you,” he gestured in the direction of the party before pushing a hand through his hair.

“There is a difference between being in a room with people drinking and drinking with people. Like you have to be like talking to them to be counted as drinking with him. It’s just a human thing,” he brushed off. “People don’t like to be alone.”

“I like being alone,” he muttered under his breath, turning to look at his friend. He didn’t like people, but he liked the Fells. They were his people. “Why would you want to talk to people?” he continued, like he wasn’t talking to Jasper right now. “I’m still getting used to the whole ‘human’ thing,” he added with a small shrug.

“Is this seat taken?” he asked, but didn’t wait for an answer before he hopped over the back of the couch and plopped down next to the person sitting there. “Lame party, right? At least they have snacks,” he shrugged and took a handful of goldfish crackers out of a fishbowl. Cute. He ate some then grimaced. “Not as good as the real thing though. Disappointed but not surprised.” @whitmore-starters​

rushing through the empty halls, elias slid on the slick floors with ease. he was in search of a date, or a friend, or really anyone to head to the party in the great hall with. in his frenzy, he slammed into a body, sending both individuals falling to the floor. “woah, hey, i’m sorry.” he stood, offering a hand. “wanna head with me to that party? some buddies told me they were spiking the punch!” @whitmore-starters​

A cat always landed on it’s feet. Unfortunately, Sawyer was in human form and tumbled to the ground when someone barreled into him. “What the fuck,” he growled, moving to a sitting position with his elbows on his knees. He looked at the hand offered to him and swat it out of his face. “The last thing you need right now is some spiked punch,” he challenged, and maybe that was a poor attempt at a joke. The familiar didn’t have much of a sense of humor. Pushing off the ground, he dusted himself off. “Then again, everyone is talking about the party. We wouldn’t want to miss out on all the fun, would we?”

Jasper has fished himself a drink and without thinking made a second. But for the first time there was no second next to him. No twin brother. No twin sister. No familiar. No girlfriends. He was alone. He looked around before spotting someone. “You look like you could use a drink,” he said, holding out the punch to them. “Or i don’t want to drink alone. Whichever works for you. And gets you to take it.”

 Sawyer didn’t think he’d ever get used to being around this many people. It was his second year, and he still hated crowds, but it always helped to spot a familiar face in a sea of college students. “And what makes me look like I need a drink?” he inquired, one eyebrow arched. He looked from the punch to Jasper, then decided to take the drink. He trusted Jasper. He was a Fell. He was good people. “Literally every person here is drinking, so you wouldn’t be drinking alone... but if you insist,” he smirked and raised his cup for cheers.

“this is going to sound…absolutely RIDICULOUS…” the witch began as she approached the other, chuckling nervously as she tucked strands of platinum hair behind her ear, cheeks were helplessly tinted pink, “but i’m playing my very first game of truth or dare and i was just dared to kiss you. care to help me win?”

A curious brow rose as the familiar looked down at the witch. “You’re right. That is ridiculous. Your sister’s not going to like this... but if we...kiss, do we win? Or do I have to play this truth or dare game too?” Human-y creatures and their games were so strange.

The blonde leaned against the doorway as the male stood by the door. “Sorry, but if it makes you feel any better, you’re not the first to barge into my room by accident.” she shrugged, hoping it’d make the other feel like less of an idiot. “Who were you looking for?”

Eyebrows furrowed together. “People are just barging into your dorm room? By accident?” he asked, like he hadn’t just done the exact same thing. Logic wasn’t one of his strong suits. “I was looking for Val. Valerie Fell. She’s my- friend. She’s my friend. Do you know what room she’s in?”
