Deflection, deflection, deflection…it’s the gop mantra.
robin hobb is so cracked at writing compelling and realistic characters and plots with a very exacting emotional weight that it makes you forget that this is the "talking boats are secretly dead larval dragon" series. like there are heated political debates that feel like incredibly poignant commentaries on how liberalism interferes with progress and permit atrocities such as slavery. and then this debate is interrupted by a dragon. i keep forgetting this is a high fantasy series.
The Angel of Death
FISTS YOU
And then you Die
Context: my teacher translated the verb “to grasp with one’s hand” as “to fist” since that’s kinda what it literally means, but you can’t translate it like that into English because “to fist” means something ENTIRELY different, but she doesn’t know that.
So she was explaining how they use the verb to describe the angel of death taking your soul — he rips your soul out of you with his fist. Now that’s pretty damn metal, but she said word for word “the angel of death fists you, and then you die” which is the single most terrifying and powerful sentence to ever grace my ears
Op i appreciate the context but i was going to rb anyway no questions asked
Fitz voice my gay best friend is pretty like a girl and reminds me of my mother
important reminder that most people you follow online are significantly lamer than you think they are including me. and if you feel insecure comparing yourself to someone online: DON'T. theyre probably also lame and weird. most people on the internet are
reblog if you're also lame and weird.
Very fascinated by this Walmart shirt. Could they not use the actual phrase or something? It's not even specifying "when you're mean to me" it's just when you're mean in general this particular bunny gets hurt. She carries all suffering. This bunny experiences all evil in the world.
When you are mean, that is who you hurt. That's exactly what they mean.

These remind me of this drawing by Franz Kafka from the 1900s. We've been feeling this way for a long time.
prev, i'm sure you mean my guy Leonid Pasternak
I'm always struck by how much of a dead ringer Leonid Pasternack is for James McAvoy
imagine you kiss a boy and then he spends fifteen years as a hermit instead of going home to his beautiful wife. i too would start wondering things like well maybe he is into me
just a reminder.
“My dream was dead in my arms. I continued to walk.”
girl who read the book almost two months ago still being kept up at night over that line

This has been my main argument against "AI" from the very beginning.
OpenAI scraped the entire web. All of which had been a labor of love from humans. Wikipedia is the backbone of a lot of LLMs, and that was volunteer human labor. They stole it and now they're selling it back to us.
And worse, they're trying to destroy the free sources that they stole from. It's destruction of human knowledge on an unprecedented scale. The burning of the library of Alexandria has nothing on this.
