a long time ago I& did have an idea together with a friend for an ii fanseason called Inanimate Duality. with s4 and my& waning interest in the show it's basically been canned, but I& still really like these designs for contestants. These were just the new characters that were gonna get introduced alongside returning previous cast members. Decided to post these so that they wouldn't rot in my& art folders

Things they need to change in the iis1 remake (HOT TAKE WARNING)

Redo the EP arc completely by renaming them to Page and giving them actual depth as a character and making them not a literal 1-dimensional stereotype

Salt and Pepper must NOT ever acknowledge their codependence. Remove that shit and make them toxic yuri like straight up make them unhealthy as shit. If you absolutely MUST have Salt know all this therapyspeak then at least have her call Pepper a gaslighting ESFP with a disorganized attachment style and have Salt realize her comphet is hindering her

Thoughts on the Season 1 remake is that ideally it would be either a completely faithful visual-only remake where the only differences in dialogue would be like. Removing the slurs and the egregious ableism and stuff. OR. It should be a complete rewrite where they actually utilize their new writing skills to improve on the old humour and give the characters that got out too fast the character arcs and deeper writing that they always deserved.

Right now it's obvious that they're not just going the first route, and that there will be some dialogue rewrites, some joke changes here and there... so let's just hope that the plot will get some rewrites, since clearly they're not afraid of bold changes such as adding a whole new character.

However I&'m not actually all that hopeful based on the first episode. It might be just too early to see, but even something as simple as removing the elephant feces was a huge downgrade. It feels like the original S1 was written by children, but the remake is being written *for* children, and that's a downgrade in my& eyes.

At this point it feels like the ii team don't even like... talk to each other. They send the scripts back and forth email style like "Hey Adam! Let me know what you think about this scene!" but they don't even have a shitposting channel on their discord because the jokes feel mild as shit and unfunny. Yeah I& wasn't a fan of the "edge" either but at least it felt like it came from the heart. Rn they're turning it into Season 3: Two.
