Hey this is techno and welcome to my fancy trash arcade!

I post my own work here (unless I bobble a reblog), which may include: plush/soft sculpture, crochet, drawings (traditional and digital), doll customization and furbies, along with whatever else the brain weasels currently have me fixated on.

Feel free to share/reblog, but don't repost my work. If you comment (even if its just in the tags) I will definitely stare at it and kick my feet, flabbergasted that I've been noticed.

So uh...

I was watching 'how to drink' again today (an excellent show - I watch it even tho I don't/can't drink) and I was reminded for once while I was AT HOME that I started trying to make bitters and had set up extraction jars like....over a year ago 😬😬😬

So I guess it's time to crack into them and see what's happened since then!

So far most things seem ok! No mold or anything which *thank gods* because I used fuckin' *everclear* and if anything was growing in THAT I think we'd have bigger problems than my extracts not turning out.

I of course get assaulted with the smell of ec when I sniff a container, but some of the stuff I've spilled on my hands is pretty nice!

The earl grey almost seemed a little syrupy? Glad I left it in the tea bags tbh because I'm too impatient for more proper straining and I've basically juat been mostly pouring these into the amber bottles and then using the bottle dropper to suck up the last bits without getting the material in it. Yes it *is* still faster this way because the funnel keeps making a seal on the bottles and I only have one pair of hands to handle the bottle and the steeping jar, and adding in 'funnel' and 'filter paper' is too much for my hands to do at once.

Ok so, even if I fucked some things up I think just this basil extract (?) I made makes up for it. Couple drops in club soda and I have a tasty, non alcoholic beverage!

The apricot didn't get as strong as I'd hoped and seems to need something else to help bring it forward. I still have thw apicy apeicot bits so I might grind them up and give them a good squeeze for extra apricottiness.

My hands smell pretty good rn lol. I wonder how much alcohol I might have absorbed thru my skin while doing this?

I probably should have been wearing gloves through the whole thing, but I *did* wear them when decanting the wormwood bitters as I feel like I've created an uncle iroh situation (delicious flavouring, or nerve affecting poison?)

Next up: the weirds

Sugar seems to do something weird when on dried fruit¹ and left alone for over a year:

They're all some variation of milky and gritty. The ginger looks to be almost entirely solid, with maybe an oz of liquid on the top (down from like, 4 oz of alcohol...). Haven't poked it yet though.

The cherry and cranberry *smell* ok? And I didn't cough or wanna heave from mold exposure. Idk what I'll do with them. 'When in doubt, throw it out' is the food service motto my partner has imprinted on my brain.

And finally, the troubled one. Cacao:

Every time I try to make cacao bitters it turns into dubious slop. I saw that greg from htd *also* ended up with a certain degree of slop, and then he was able to use his vacuum distiller² to separate the slop from the bitters. That's some science-y equipment I don't own, and am not serious enough about making my own bitters to get.

Maybe I'll try the fruit again *with a calendar reminder maybe??) And just try to source the cacao from elsewhere.

I think this one is still a wip but I'm done touching it for rn so I don't cut too much when toasted

Fact for any interested: Unlike the checkmates stamps, I didn't draw on paper first and transfer it to the lino, I just did it.

Personal fun fact : I like that caine can look kinda crunchy and it's still like, accurate.

I've been playing around with linocutting and a kinger stamp happened, so of course I had to make a queenie stamp to go with him~ (This is actually the second queenie - I miscut the first one haha 🫠)

Oh yeah! My slug!

I was enamored by an image of like, a dozen arion ater (aka european black slug, black arion) in a yogurt container so I decided to make one (also joann's had NO grey or brown in this fabric at the time). I'd also felt that being able to put a big gastropod on my face might make me feel better during my migraines, so that's another motivation.

It's big and weighted, made of stretch/mochi minky and silky poly fil. I had to add the pneumostome 'cause I'm extra like that and have to make every project more difficult.

Its currently in need of repairs, as its eyestalk is coming off D:

Painted and led lit frame for my partner's huge honkin' mlp pin (from sophie scruggs iirc) from a couple years ago

I don't think its been lit since this point, but the option is there!

Found some of my old embroidery wips! I have no idea how old they are, just that at most they're just under 6 years old (I learned to embroider during lockdown). The phoenix is good enough (to me) that I had doubts about whether or not I made it. The like, 6 layers of fabric I've tacked to it proves it was me though, lol.
