Fandom Menace: Player Choice
Hi all! I'm doing a quick article for NerdVice.com about the nature of choice in RPGs. I'm trying to survey as many people as possible to get a wide array of reactions, so if you have a little bit of time, I'd really appreciate some reactions! Assume all questions refer to your FIRST run of the game, please explain WHY for all answers.
Have you played all three Mass Effect games?
Did you look up game walkthroughs ahead of time to make the “right” choice or did you go in blind?
Were you a Paragon or a Renegade?
Did you tend to pick dialogue that matched your alignment, or did you mix and match?
Which background (Spacer, Colonist, Earthborn) and profile (War Hero, Sole Survivor, Ruthless) did you pick? Do you think this impacted your run at all?
Did you pick squad-mates for missions because of their combat abilities or because you liked the characters?
Who did you romance in each game, and why?
Which non-love interest characters would you most like to romance?
Did you save Ashley or Kaidan?
Did you save Wrex?
Did you spare the rachni queen?
Did you save the Council?
Did you keep Samara in your squad, or did you take Morinth?
Did you save the Normandy crew from the Collectors?
Who died on the suicide mission?
Did you cure the genophage?
Did you side with the geth, the quarians, or both?
Whose death were you most devastated by? Did you feel personally responsible?
Which NPC subplot were you most emotionally involved in?
Was there a Paragon choice that you thought should have been Renegade, or vice versa?
Which ending did you pick? What did you like/dislike about it?
Overall, were you satisfied with the amount of choice given to you throughout the games?
Thanks for your input!
