Mental Health Month
As many of you are aware this May is Mental Health Month. To me this a very special month because as we all go along our day we don’t think or talk about mental health and i believe its because we cant see it. This month allows us to stop and think and reflect about it. It really gets people talking about it.
May allows the world to unite and acknowledge the struggles of people with mental health.I want people, who are struggling with mental health,to know you are not alone. You have the world by your side. We want to help you. But as i already mentioned its not something we can see you struggling with. So we need you to speak about it. To absolutely anyone a friend, a teacher, a safe secure mental health website. Now i know this can be hard, I mean its the first step, they are always hard but trust me if you tell someone they will care. they will try to help you.
Mental health isn’t a physical health so we cannot see it and sometimes it stops us from thinking about it. We never know who has mental health around us, it could be the boy/girl you sit next to in English, History, Art etc etc maybe even your best friend. I guess what I’m trying to say is be careful what you say. You never know how much impact your words can have. For example in school today we watched a mental health video and a person in my class shouted “this is boring” and it really made me angry i mean its really insensitive and disrespectful and the person obviously didn’t think about the impact it might of had on any of our class members. I wasn’t just angry at the comment i was disappointed to that not a lot of people have been educated about Mental Health and how words can have a huge impact on it.
I really love the idea of Mental Health month and that we get to specifically focus on it but we all need to remember and work on mental health and think about it 375 days a year not just this month. We cant just think about it this month and forget about it the next .
i’m going to link down 2 websites that i know are safe so that if you need help or just someone to talk to and you don’t feel comfortable talking about it to someone you know or face to face then you can access them for help.
