“This is so pretty,” You sighed as you stared up at the sky.
“Sure is,” Shawn’s hand was in yours, and you felt the slight squeeze he gave you with his fingers.
“You better not be staring at me instead of at the stars,” You warned, knowing exactly how cheesy he could get.
It was the first time you brought Shawn to your favorite spot at home. There weren’t many people that knew this tiny beach existed, and you used to come here a lot to read during the day or enjoy the peacefulness of the night. The sound of the waves was relaxing as you lay side by side, looking up at the sky.
“What? I’m not allowed to look at the love of my life now?” He had a stupid grin on his face, and it only widened when you brought both of your hands up to your face.
“God you’re such a dork,” You covered your cheeks with them and you shook your head a little.
“I love you,” Shawn giggled as you buried your face further into your hands. “And one day, I want to marry you.”
“Shawn!” You dropped your hands and turned to him with wide eyes.
“What?” He knew exactly what, but he was still calm next to you.
“You can’t just say shit like that!” You felt your heart hammer in your chest, and Shawn gave you a soft smile as he reached to cup your face.
“Why not? I mean it. Not now, obviously, but someday,” His thumb caressed your cheek as he spoke, brushing away a few tears that were suddenly falling from your eyes.
“I didn’t think taking you stargazing would end up with me crying,” You sighed, shuffling closer so rest your head on his chest.
“I didn’t mean to make you cry,” Shawn wrapped his arms around you and closed his eyes. He couldn’t care less about the stars when you were against him like that.
“You make me happy,” You whispered and placed a kiss over his heart.
“Say that again.” A peaceful smile spread on his face, and his body relaxed underneath yours.
“You make me happy,” You repeated. “And I love you, so I want to marry you too.”
