You know what I donât get? When fanfic authors apologize for long chapters. Itâs like? You gave me bonus content, for free, and youâre sorry about it? Bruh. I have already named my firstborn after you. Dude.
You know what else I donât get? When they apologize for short updates. Itâs like: look at these new words I gave you! Sorry I didnât give you even more free words. Bro, thatâs at least two words that I did not have yesterday. For free. Dude. Thank you.
And another thing: when people drop out of nowhere with a surprise update and then apologize for it taking a while. Like, dude, I wasnât expecting anything, and you gave me words. I thought this fic was abandoned, but wait: thereâs more. You just popped in and reminded me that this is a Good Fic that I should probably reread. You made my goshdarn day.
Basically fanfic writers are under no obligation to publish anything so when they do update itâs always a net positive because the story is longer now, and I have something to read, so thank you so much to everyone who writes fic at whatever pace or quantity they want.

Being a Harry Potter fan like:
the two previous movie series of Spider-Man always had it that Spidey was a Big Hit with the citizens of nyc in spite of the negative press/police departments actively hunting him down but we havenât really seen anything like that in the mcu past Peterâs classmates simply being aware that Spider-Man is a hero who exists, like we didnât see any slandering articles or angry officers which is WEIRD considering the canonical climate about superheros in the mcu right now so likeâŚ.I really hope it carries over into this third series because frankly I love the idea of everyone in a post-accords world in constant debate about superheroes like âshould they be held accountable for casualtiesâ and âdoes it make sense to give all this power to just a few people and force them to make potentially catastrophic situationsâ and âdo we even truly Need superheroesâ like any and all debate they can think of but at the same time, all the citizens in New York are collectively like âYeahâŚ.but weâre gonna leave the Spider-Boy out of thisâŚ.he just wants to help outâŚ.heâs doing his Best..â lmao
The Entire City Of New York: after all the danger weâve been placed in since these superheroes started popping up, since the Avengerâs set up a headquarters here- weâre sick of it. superheroes only prevent problems that they create in the first place and cause millions in damages doing it. we want our city to be safe!
Also The Entire City Of New York: weâve only had Spider-Man for a year and a half but if anything ever happened to him we would kill everyone on this planet and then ourselves
J. Jonah Jameson: writes a scathing article about the âspider menaceâ âterrorizingâ Queens and campaigns for his arrest and imprisonment alongside other âmutant menacesâÂ
That Nice Old Lady that bought Peter a churro: *barges into the Daily Bugle office swinging her handbag with deadly force*Â
Citizens of New York City: fuck the avengers!!
The Rest Of The World: you do realize that your Spider-Man has been spotted helping the Avengers on multiple occasions and many believe him to be an honorable member of the team?
Citizens of New York City:
why are all angel names like: Castiel, Gadreel, Anael, Samandriel⌠you know very melodic? And then Metatron comes along and sounds like a freaking heavy metal band.

A Crimson Peak AU.Â
7. Tapestry by Arvensis5 - 35K words
While in prison on Asgard, Frigga devises her own punishment for her wayward son â she bestows upon Loki the curse of watching the different pathways of what might have been during the attack on Midgard. In one thread, he accepted the drink from Stark. In another, Stark saved him from death. In every thread, the infuriating mortal captures Lokiâs attention. Now, every time he closes his eyes, Loki walks the threads of fate that never were and that never will be, and in doing so, he must learn from the past to find the future that Frigga has already foretold from the tapestry of fate.
Loki Never Faked His Death
Iâve seen enough times that in discussions, people almost always bring up this argument that Loki intentionally faked his death and count it as one of his wrong doings. It has specially happened more often after TR and its retcons and the narrativeâs attempt to dismiss and diminish Lokiâs pain. They claim that Loki faked his death twice, in Thor 1 and TDW. Hereâs why this assumption is wrong:
1. In Thor(2011) Loki committed suicide.
Everything Loki did in Thor 1 was to prove to Odin that he is a worthy son. He is not in a right mental state. After he finds out about the truth of his parentage the thin steel rod thatâs been holding his brain together snaps according to Kenneth Branagh. So he thinks by eliminating the danger of Jotunheim he is doing what Odin wants of him. Because Odin wanted to use Loki to bring permanent peace. So Loki in his disordered state of mind thinks by attempting genocide and killing all the monsters once and for all, he is doing his kingdom and Odin a favor. Because he is nullifying the enemyâs danger like what Odin wanted to use him for in the first place. All he wants is Odinâs approval and acknowledgment. In the scene when he is holding the Gungnir, he is literally and figuratively hanging by a thin thread on the edge of an abyss. He tells Odin:
âI could have done it father! I could have done it! For you! For all of us!â
He looks hopefully to Odin. This is his last hope to be accepted. Instead all Loki hears is a disappointed âNo Lokiâ. All Loki sees is disapproval, rejection and disappointment. This breaks Loki. He has lost everything.
And then Loki lets go, not just physically but mentally. He doesnât see any place, love and acceptance for himself. He doesnât want to live anymore. He lets go and commits suicide.
Possible counterarguments:
âLoki wanted to escape from the consequences of his actions.â
All Loki cares about at that point is Odinâs approval. He doesnât think he did anything wrong. He has grown up in a racist culture that sees Jotuns as monsters who are inferior, monsters and lesser people. He was also the rightful king at the time that was betrayed by his subjects and since Asgard is a monarchy, the kingâs order is the law and he canât be punished for his actions as the king.
âLoki knew he would survive.â
According to the âThor the Dark World Preludeâ comic which is part of MCU canon the general knowledge is that when someone falls in the void, they will die. Everyone believed Loki died. That means this is also what Loki believed to happen. It was Frigga who searched for Loki and finally found out that Loki is alive.
âWhy didnât Loki tell his family that he is alive?â
First reason is that Loki has broken ties with his family at that time. He is hurt and heartbroken and probably doesnât want to see them again. Second, when Heimdall could finally see him he was with the Chitauri and had the scepter. We know before that he was with Thanos and possibly under torture and most probably he would rather be found. Frigga only found him after he was âready to leadâ. And since neither her nor Heimdall knew about Thanosâ involvement, we can conclude that it was Thanos who stopped Loki from being found.
Where does this assumption come from that Lokiâs suicide was his attempt at faking his death?
Because there is a scene in TR, in which Loki jokes and laughs about his attempted suicide. As if it was a funny and unimportant thing. Just a story for entertainment. This scene is put in the movie to show all the pain Loki went through was nothing, to further the retcon that all Loki does, are tricks and he does them because he has no other reason except that he is the god of mischief.
2. In TDW Loki didnât intentionally fake his death. He only survived.
I explained this many times before. So I just copy my explanation from another one of my posts.
âLoki didnât fake his death to usurp Odin:
1. Lokiâs illusions canât hold upon contact. They get either dissolved or disoriented. In other words they are like images and projections. They are not solid unless they are put on an actual person. Like when Loki was putting illusion on Thor and himself, or when he was Odin and Thor had grabbed him and the illusion didnât wear off until Loki wanted. So Loki actually was stabbed through the chest to save Thor.
2. The stabbing through chest wasnât and couldnât have been planned. Loki didnât know that the blade couldnât kill the Kursed. He couldnât know that Kursed would then impale him on the blade. He also didnât know if Kursed would hold him on the blade until he died or throw him away sooner. So when he activated that grenade he did it with complete knowledge that it could kill him too. So he also didnât know that he would survive the stabbing and he didnât have any hope for it. Because he instantly activated sth that could kill him too. So his apology to Thor was also sincere.
Lokiâs sacrifice was real. His only fault!!! was that he survived. And when he survived he took advantage of his situation. He didnât inform Thor because Thor had promised to return him to his cell. He usurped the throne to take revenge on Odin and in doing so he not only protected Thor and his friends from the consequence of their treason, he made sure to separate the Tesseract and the Aether. Not to mention he offered the throne to Thor and Thor refused.â[X]
Where does this assumption come from that Loki faked his death in TDW?
Thor tells Loki: âYou faked your own deathâ in TR and then continues to blame Loki for everything that happened. And because Thor is the hero of the narrative, people accept everything he says as the truth. It doesnât matter to them that in the same movie Thor constantly throw things at Loki to know if he is actually there which further proves that Lokiâs illusions are not solid.
In conclusion, Loki never faked his death intentionally. He never did it to hurt Thor. He committed suicide when he let go of Gungnir because he had lost all hope that he could ever be a worthy son in the eye of Odin. He was actually stabbed in TDW to save Thorâs life and he thought he was going to die but he survived and took advantage of the situation. His sacrifice was real and the fact that he did survive, doesnât diminish its value. Loki never intentionally faked his death.
Thank you so much for this @lucianalight <3<3<3
May I just interject two things here? Â
#1 - Tom said in an interview that both he & Chris played the scene in TDW as a DEATH scene. Loki was SUPPOSED to die in TDW but audiences objected so the ending was changed. LOKI DIDNâT DO THAT! And the MCU never addressed it PROPERLY. TW & CH were the ones who characterized it as Loki FAKING his death in TDW.
#2 - When Loki discovered he was alive, he went back to Asgard. Odin, at that point, had sent Einherjars to âstop Thor at any cost.â Thor had committed treason. Odin had also wanted to fight the Dark Elves on Asgard with NO REGARD for the Asgardians, which is why Thor left to confront them elsewhere. Odin, at the loss of Frigga, had snapped and was no longer fit to rule. Loki stepped in to prevent chaos on Asgard.
I agree 100% that Loki DID NOT fake his âdeaths.â
THIS.
The fact that we never learned how exactly Loki survived after in TWD of course makes it easy to interpret it any way you see fit. And we know what the narrative in TR was.
But thereâs also this: what the OP says about Lokiâs projections not being corporeal also proves that Loki didnât âfake his deathâ in IW. Thanos really killed him.Â
SURPRISE! Jodie Whittaker gives Doctor Who fans the surprise of a lifetime.

how good would it be if luna, who believes in the crumple-horned snorckack and nargles, thought that dinosaurs were made up by muggles
Okay, but consider:
Someone (probably Hermione) takes Luna to a muggle museum of natural history, in a last ditch effort to convince her that dinosaurs really did exist. They go through all of it: full and partial skeletons on display, fossil imprints of skin textures, a little video about carbon dating, exhibits on the evolution of all life from tiny one-celled sea creatures, bird-hipped vs. lizard-hipped, living giant isopods and coelacanths, the whole spiel about how the dinosaurs arenât actually completely gone, since some, like the anchiornis and archaeopteryx, were the predecessors from which todayâs birds - including every owl in the Wizarding World - evolved.
Luna takes all this in with her usual calm demeanor until the very end, when her eyes seem to grow even more enormous in her face, but doesnât say anything. After a full minute of Lunaâs silent astonishment, her companion prods her for a response. âOf course!â Luna exclaims, âno wonder Iâve never found them. Iâve been going about things the wrong way!â She launches into a lengthy explanation that the records that she and her father have been using for references were copies of copies of copies of absolutely ancient scripts, so in order to find the creatures as described in them, she needed to be looking for fossils.Â
Luna (with Rolf as her assistant) begins searching through areas of Wizarding Britain, using magical equivalents of the muggle tools she read about at the museum (a variation on Tempus to determine the age of a magical item or creature, Cryptozoam Revelio as a substitute for ground-penetrating radar). She finds the remains of a number of magical creatures from various ages, as well as accidentally uncovering a nest of Knuckers, a relative of the dragon previously thought to be extinct. After this discovery, she and Rolf are given a bit more credence than before, and they gain the support among creature-handlers, especially dragonologists.  Because of this, they get access to more regions of the world, and their team grows. Eventually Luna ends up founding the Wizarding Archaeological Society, the first institution to combine both muggle and wizard research methods at a single institution. On the 50th anniversary of the Societyâs founding, they open a museum of their own (âEverything that was, at the WAS!â), to display the various fossils of magical creatures that theyâve managed to locate over the years. Unveiled at the opening ceremonies was what would become the pride of their collection, a diorama of Crumple-Horned Snorkacks in every stage of development, along with details about their habits, average lifespan, and a map of the full range of their habitat at their peak population in the mid-17th century. Their extinction at during the 20th century was attributed to rising global temperatures, as their most flourishing period coincided with the coldest years of the Little Ice Age, and no specimens from any later than the 1976 Heat Wave had thus far been recovered. The disappearance of the Snorkacks, it was said, had been an early warning sign of the global climate change which had troubled the entire world, wizarding and muggle, for the better part of the last half-century. A cooperative partnership had been reached between the WAS and the Royal Society a scant decade after the WASâs founding , allowing research witches and wizards to pool their resources with muggle scientists, in time to prevent a catastrophe that the wizarding world would otherwise have been unlikely to survive.
In her speech at that eveningâs gala, Luna told the story of how it all happened, to reveal the person who had singlehandledly started this series of events, which resulted in not only a golden age of discovery in the field of cryptozoology, but also an era of peace and cooperation between both worlds, allowing restrictions imposed by the Statute of Secrecy to be loosened for the first time in nearly five hundred years, all in the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake. Hermione Granger, who had been grumbling in her chair the entire time, rose when acknowledged. Luna Lovegood beamed at her aging friend, the witch who had gone from being her most skeptical critic to her most dedicated - and most challenging - supporter in a mere half-century.Â
