it’s safe to say i think about this video at least four times a day, i can quote almost the whole thing from memory
like. people really don't get it. we're at a point where literally any piece of media can just disappear if the company wants it gone. who gives a shit if pirating makes you uncomfy. people can literally preserve these things but you're all but it's illegalllll.
Plus if we pirate enough, it’ll show these big companies we aren’t gonna take their bullshit. They want our money? Then give us the shit we’d actually pay for instead of making it disappear. I would love to pay animators for their work, but if the people running streaming services don’t want/aren’t going to, then why should I pay at all? They’re not gonna see a cent anyway, might as well pirate it. And if the company tries to go after us for pirating, then they’re gonna lose more money than they’d earn. They can’t sue all of us!
According to Know Your Meme, on August 18th, 2005, Erwin Beekveld brought forth this work into the world. HAPPY TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY, THEY’RE TAKING THE HOBBITS TO ISENGARD.
sheds a single tear
every august 18th my notifications break and i go, fuck, tumblr has failed me once again, but it hasn’t. it hasn’t failed me. it’s just the taking the hobbits to isengard-iversary. happy 12 years
#i hope we all celebrated this international feast day accordingly
I regret to inform everyone that @catchaspark’s reblog was made in 2017 and that Taking the Hobbits to Isengard was actually published 17 years ago, not 12 years ago.

how would one prove theyre an adult to you? /gen
You can dm me and show me an ID to prove it^^
someone said this: “Someone should not have to doxx themselves to prove they're an adult.” in the comments. I somehow can’t reply so I’m replying like this. Doxing - Doxing (sometimes written as Doxxing) is the act of revealing identifying information about someone online, such as their real name, home address, workplace, phone, financial, and other personal information. That information is then circulated to the public — without the victim's permission. Therefore Doxxing yourself is literally impossible. Because you willingly give your information. Also, tf you think we’re gonna do with information on your ID? Nothing, cause we don’t fucking care.
Here’s some advice for people that are cautious about giving out private info on your ID, whether you’re worried about it getting leaked or are just a private person in general.
What you can do (which I find that most will be reasonable about) is censor:
your address (Aside from the state/country/province/etc where Your ID was issued)
full name (though keep your first name and first letter of your last uncensored)
Social Security Number
ID number
Do not censor your age or picture, and be sure to send a recent picture of yourself so the person can match your face with the ID (I like to take one right away while holding a piece of paper, writing something relevant like the exact date/time/a doodle to give it more authenticity).
After getting confirmation from the person you are sending it to that you’re good to go, delete it from the DMs. If at any point they say that you cannot censor identifying information, attempt to talk it out with the person first, and if they keep insisting, then do not give them your ID.
Giving out your ID to strangers online can be a risky thing. It’s not exactly like giving your ID to a bartender/bouncer. A bartender won’t have a copy of your ID or be able to make one like a person on the internet can by just right click and save as. What you post online can stay on the internet forever. I’m not going to pretend that there aren’t malicious people out there that won’t attempt to steal identities or dox people through these kinds of methods, whether they are a person they admire, an untrustworthy discord mod, or pretending to be someone they aren’t.
What we should be doing is giving people some leeway to protect themselves, while still being able to confirm their age. I hope that this advice helps people to be able to show their ID if they need to, and give them some peace of mind while doing so.
Happy aniversary you dumb fucks @staff
Happy anniversary, you stupid fucks!
Wear a mask.
Hilarious
You didn't see SHIT
Also friendly reminder: If you see someone stealing pads, tampons, or any other kind of menstrual product, especially if they look like a teenager, NO YOU FUCKING DIDN'T.
Writing about a child rapist did not make Vladimir Nabokov a child rapist.
Writing about an authoritarian theocracy did not make Margaret Atwood an authoritarian theocrat.
Writing about adultery did not make Leo Tolstoy an adulterer.
Writing about a ghost did not make Toni Morrison a ghost.
Writing about a murderer did not make Fyodor Dostoevsky a murderer.
Writing about a teenage addict did not make Isabel Allende a teenage addict.
Writing about dragons and ice zombies did not make George R.R. Martin either of those things.
Writing about rich heiresses, socially awkward bachelors, and cougar widows did not make Jane Austen any of those things.
Writing about people who can control earthquakes did not make N.K. Jemisin able to control earthquakes.
Writing about your favorite characters and/or ships in situations that you choose does not make you a bad person.
It’s a shame that in this day and age these things need to be said.
Or, in short: the narrator =/ the author.
You know what else is a shame? This nowadays tendency of putting on the author the responsibility of teaching their readers morality.
Authors are allowed to write morally ambiguous characters.
Authors are allowed to write downright despicable characters - and guess what they are even allowed to make despicable characters charismatic and likeble and the protagonists of their stories if they wish - because absolute monsters exist only under the bed.
It is not up to the author to spoonfeed the readers about morality and Yes I know this character did a bad thing and I am going going to show it in the story and make other characters call them out of it and– Bullshit.
The authors should be able to write what they want without having thousands of people jumping and their throats claiming to know them, their ideas and their morality based on what they write.
It’s not up to the author to teach you about what is right and what is wrong.
It’s not up to the author to teach you about what is right and what is wrong.

POST PLUS IS COMING, WHETHER YOU WANT IT OR NOT!
Despite the fancy survey, changes to the UI and TOS reveal we’re getting the service in the future whether we want it or not. Obviously, Post+ is a terrible idea that is trying to bank revenue on user content. Unlike patreon or onlyfans, tumblr’s primary focus is on FAN content. The legality of this is NOT in the users favor and as the new tumblr TOS states, said users will be entirely liable for whatever legal matters arise.
SO WHAT ARE WE DOING?
Besides filling out the survey, it’s time to show tumblr we mean business and show our displeasure by hitting them where it hurts.
Ad revenue.
We’re proposing a 24 hour log off as phase one of this protest.
