“Message Received” was a really fun episode to art direct. Rebecca and the story teams did such a good job introducing the Yellow Diamond arc, and I wanted to find a cool way to help strengthen that through color. The last image is some color exploration stuff I did, completely based on Danny’s design.

Background layout by Steven Sugar and Emily Walus
Character design by Danny Hynes
EDIT: by “Yellow Diamond arc” I just meant the episodes leading up to her and Message Received! Just wanted to clarify :)
Guess who’s been re-watching South Park lately
That scene in Mulan where all the ancestors are arguing about whose fault it was that Mulan ran off to join the army except with all the Force ghosts arguing about Ben Solo.

Art of In betweening - Animation Timing Charts
This Stringbing Workshop episode is based on the most asked question of my inbox, how to understand the animation timing chart.
Understanding the timing chart is essential when in betweening your animation. Here’s a video on it! Today’s episode features guest characters by Thahn Dang. Check out his work: http://teaumbler.tumblr.com
If you guys are interested in submitting/donating characters to the workshop to be animated for future sbw content, I’ve posted more info about it on my you-tube channel.
Death takes no pleasure in his job, but it is a job that must be done.
