Intro post!

Im self-taught seamstress who likes to design and make clothes for myself. I also like to collect and style vintage jewelry and am interested in home decor, I just really like beautiful things!

I mainly make clothes for regular day-to-day wear, no costumes! I’m not sure exactly how to describe my style but some design elements I seem to gravitate towards again and again are : sharp shoulders, big or interesting collars, colour blocking, shiny hardware, workwear, boxy shapes, 80s power silhouettes, nautical elements, stiff pants/jeans, western wear elements. My main colours are pink, plum purple, and red!

This week I decided to make something summery to express my wistfulness for warmer weather with some fabric I bought just over a year ago in Paris which also has me wistfully reminiscing that memory!

The skirt has an insane amount of volume! There are 4 tiers- the top tier is a 5 inch long circle skirt, and then there are three gathered tiers , each 6 inches long. The bottom tier is 262 inches wide- so much volume!!

The top is a boned bustier with shirred sleeves inserted into princess seams

The tiny print kind of obscures all the seam lines, like as is you might be looking at a stretch bodice with only side seams but it is a carefully fitted non-stretch 9 panel bustier

I've been working on another pair of gloves, this time in dark brown and gold. I widened the hand opening a bit after making the black pair, so these should be easier to put on.

These ones are pretty similar to the striped ones I made in my glove video, only this time I actually have 3mm masking tape and didn't need to cut wide tape into strips! Thanks to the helpful comments on that video I was able to order some from a site called Green Stuff World.
