Three Ways to Brighten Up your Spring Wardrobe
This was a long, dreary winter, and for most of us, our clothes were pretty drab to match. Now that it seems to be seasonally appropriate, we need to get some lights and brights into our outfits -- it's been so long, though, that we might be drained of inspiration! When you think about 2014's spring trends, as well as all the pieces we own but aren't going to get a lot of use out of, there are a lot of ways we can put together outfits that shine as bright as the sun this spring. Here are our favorites.
For Daytime: Neons and Whites
Last year, spring trends involved a lot of coral and mint. This year, it seems that white-on-white, as well as pops of neon, are the color trend for the spring season. Try some white linen pants, spring sweaters with neon-colored piping, or some neon athletic sneakers as easy, breezy ways to incorporate lighter colors. For those of us who don't like to go bold, it's always an option to use a neon-colored crossbody bag, neon nails, or fresh, white sneakers with faded denim.
For Nighttime: Sparkle and Shine
Going out to the bar or club? Bet you haven't busted out that sequin dress in a while. Even when the sun goes down, sequin dresses allow you to let it shine. If these little numbers aren't your bag, though, you could try out the new holographic trend that's so on-trend. Holographic shoes, handbags, jewelry, and hair accessories have been making their way into fashion magazines for the past few months, and even though they're bold and daring, they go with nearly anything!
For Anytime: Fun Accessories
Got a sheath dress that you wore all winter long, but now you want to make it spring-ready? Jazz it up with some sandals and brightly-colored statement jewelry. Even a plain dress that once paired so well with tights and boots can be made more spring-welcoming by adding a turquoise cuff or a citron-colored purse.
Bonus Points: Bold Lips
One huge trend we've seen this season is bold, bright lips. You've probably worn your nude, wine, and dark red lipsticks down to nubs over the fall and winter, but now it's time to go for something a little more eye-catching. Hot pinks, fuchsias, and corals are very on-trend for lippies this season, but if you're feeling extra brave, you could try out violets, lime greens, or other colors that can be found on this line of macaron lipsticks!
