and violet eyes quickly scan over the other — holding no memory of the previous meeting the demon had held with her alter. however, a sense of ominousness looms; aset remained scared of the dark, and this — whoever she was — seemed to inhabit that darkness.

but she puts on a brave face.

"you look like a duel monster," a crude joke.

this blog has been going through so much change but i'm likely going to change malik's name to aset. there is reason for this:

but equally, isis was who brought her to the surface for the first time. she owes such a sense of love and freedom and overall joy and trust to isis for everything she allowed her to feel and embrace in her darkest moments. she wants to be named aset, while y malik stayed as malik as a way to essentially attempt to ruin their father-given (this is a headcanon) name. one name is formed from love and thanks, other is kept from loathing and anger.

and shadows seem to cling to her, as if the darkness itself didn't wish to let her go--she belonged to the darkness. a corpse isn't meant to walk within the sun's light, scent of blood forever clinging to her.

a minute tilt of her head, for he's so clearly pleased upon recognizing her. yes, he were right: she is but a monster, a wraith, before she is anything else.

"you are," there's no point in acting as the benevolent goddess when he has already seen through her. "i am the end. tell me, then: what of you? you are no creature of light either."

"do i seem inhuman? how interesting," he wasn't sure how he saw of himself; his father proved to him that humanity was capable of incredibly evil things. he was just a completion of the cycle both his parents created — but the more he thought about it. . .

. . .yes, he was human.

with all its faults, all its damage, all its capacity to harm.

"my name is malik ishtar," he speaks, "i was hiding for a long time in the darkness you inhabit."

and then, a more serious expression, "so much so, that monsters falsely recognise me as their own."

yami malik acts the way he does because its how aset saw her actual father. yami malik behaves in a way that is reflective of how aset interpreted her father's behaviour and actions both consciously and subconsciously. do you understand.

"i know the darkness when i see it," it was his only comfort during those uncertain and unforgiving nights; the only existence that wrought the destruction he craved. it was interesting seeing a monster's face who warped as his own — but hers' seemed to be permanently fixed in such a horrific way.

it was soothing.

"you're a monster," a smile slowly creeps along lips, "one of death and decay, am i correct?"
