The words Virgil wanted to say were lodged in his throat behind the panic, making his breath slightly raspy as he was tugged along. The smile Olivia gave him was supposed to be soft and possibly calming, but all he could do was tremble as if he were a leaf in a summer storm, his hands feeling increasingly clammy. He was too frozen to try to pull away, too afraid to say that he felt that Olivia was quite underestimating the Nameless regardless of the fact that the demon was from an entirely different world with different rulesets, and just really wanted Valhalla to be there right at that moment.
Olivia was talking to someone on… the phone? The phone. That’s what it was. The one-sided conversation made Virgil worry at his lip something fierce, unable to use his hands to twist the bracelet into his wrist like he preferred. The eyes on the back of his neck were back again, no doubt that the Nameless was already following them back again with no real hurry.
After all, it wasn’t like the demon couldn’t send himself back. Virgil was pretty sure he had already figured it out, and now that he knew there was a connection between worlds, the Nameless would be back on his own time. He was just doing this because… mostly because he was bored, more like. A passing amusement, along with the knowledge of being able to come and go freely while Virgil remained to struggle in sending both himself and Valhalla back in one piece.
“I-I don’t think he’d particularly care about t-the other demons,” he mumbled and stuttered, awkwardly standing in front of the bench while Olivia simply sat down, his hands free to immediately go churning the black band against his wrist. “Or about the barrier. I-um, he’s…crafty.” And that was all he could say about his uncertainties about her plan. Even if they went by the same terminology, the demons of his world seemed both quite a bit different and far too similar to the demons of this world.
“There…. there aren’t many demons back home,” he blundered out instead, feeling like he should talk after being silent for too long. It wasn’t like the Nameless was outside the park- he was around, somewhere. Probably hiding under the very bench Olivia was sitting on and taking a snooze in the shadows while seeing how long it’d take for them to realize he existed or had enough excitement for one evening but keeping one eye open on them. It was most likely the reason why he felt so… watched. He kept his head down, eyes towards the shadowed bench under Olivia’s feet as if expecting the demon to pop out at any moment just to see what would happen.
“I-um, gods, I wished it was Zivilus. He’d be much easier. More annoying. Then I could just… let Pythagoras take care of things. Doesn’t like him very much, they do. The Nameless doesn’t like Zivilus either. He’s… um… not very nice.”
“Hey... stop thinking about this Zivilus alright? Think about the now- not ‘if it were’. They’re not our problem currently... well- actually, this Nameless fellow isn’t exactly our problem actually, if we don’t let him be.” she spoke with a smile, softly her words came.
“'Demons’ here are territorial... but- actually, let me clarify. Over here.” she stood up, going to head over to a tree to sit under. A glance up, and she could see a dome going over the sky. It looked- beautiful, but it was a shame only a few could see it, those having interacted with the supernatural in general. It gave off a calming energy by just merely looking at it. She smiled “Good ol’ Portal. She’s one of the ancients, exceedingly powerful.”
Looking back to him, smile still on her face. “But, you see, demons- here- don’t call themselves that. They’re so vast- so different, each and every one, they could be considered Fae- in a way. The only reason we classify them as such is if any can make deals and wield a type of colored fire- like this-” a black hand lifted, a small little candle-like navy blue flame going to float in her hand. It was cute, no heat coming from it. Ah, so she was actually part-demon.
Then it disappeared quickly. “So saying he’s ‘crafty’ means nothing here. If you don’t belong to the rules of this universe, then the rules will bend so you do- and then you’re screwed.” she laughed, leaning back casually. “The demon I belong to is an Ancient too. He’s one of the horrible ones. So- feeling watched here isn’t uncommon. For example, my demon can see through my eyes- and through any and all reflections. Oh! They also integrate into society- look over there-”
A small gesture, showing a blonde haired woman smiling happily as she spends time with a group of school children. “She’s a ‘demon’ but you can’t even tell! A life she chose herself, another Ancient, but she’s so friendly and kind- loves kids. But oho- don’t fuck with her. A guy tried to abduct one of her kids once. Police were onto her for weeks trying to figure out what the hell happened.” another laugh- her futzing with the end of her shirt. Maybe being calm and composed would help the other get a grip in a way, like- it rubbing off maybe? Who knows, at least the protection dome would help.
