hi! i know this message is late- i took quite a long break to take care of my health. I would love to travel to the west coast to shoot, but it’s not financially feasible right now. I have my eye on San Fran, LA, and Portland OR, as well as cities and states in between (i’m planning on doing the trip by car!) but, again, I’m not sure when that will be possible. It’s not only about gas and hotels and car maintenance, but also food (i have a lot of food restrictions/allergies so it can be difficult to find food places) as well as rent for studios that I use to do the actual shooting. I may try a fundraising campaign so we’ll just see!  On a different note- can I use your comment for a page on the website for reviews/thoughts?

I’m back! In Asheville NC- this June!

I can’t believe it, but after about two years, I’m finally feeling well enough to get back behind the camera and make some art. I’m coming to Asheville NC this June and I’m looking for models! So if you’re interested, message me and we’ll get you on the model list! I’m looking for models who are a size US14 or larger - which is about 43″ in the hips. I’m looking for all shapes, all genders, all sexual orientations, I’m looking for singles and partners (whether it’s one partner or multiple partners), all skin tones, and all abilities. 

Something else cool (at least I hope you’ll think it’s cool!) is that I’ll be doing dinner with those who can make it to Asheville and who would like to donate towards the costs of doing this shoot. If you can’t make it there in person, I’ll be offering signed prints- I’ll post when I have that set up!

I really love the work that you're doing. It's not often that we get to see fat people simply be beautiful and fat. Especially those of us that don't have the "idealized fat person" body. The diversity of your models is wonderful

So far this whole project has been out of pocket including paying for studios (which can get expensive!), travel, lodging, etc. We’ve been all over NC, to NY, and we’re headed to GA (May 1st) with more plans to travel all the way to CA by next year (maybe sooner if we can get the funds!). I’ve got models waiting to be photographed in TX, WA, OR, NV, FL, and more! This is exciting and a little scary at the same time! Would it be at all possible for you to have a couple of models with PCOS? It often causes weight gain, but also excess hair growth in "masculine" places, like face/neck/stomach. Body positivity is great and all of these models are beautiful, but they're also sort of the "typical" model other than size - like hair removal from legs/armpits, no visible stomach hair, etc. I love your work, but it would be nice to see empowered women who choose not to shave their legs/have stomach hair, etc. too :)

Hi! Thanks so much for your suggestion! I’ve been searching for a while for trans/non binary models to pose for me as well as other people who don’t fit the stereotypical moulds of masculine/feminine according to social expectations, but I hadn’t even thought of PCOS patients. If you have any suggestions on how I might find willing models, i’d be happy to hear them! One issue is that I’m fairly limited to NC and the surrounding area , but I’m working hard on traveling to San Francisco next year and perhaps doing a photography cross country road trip (we’ll see… it’s all about the funds, you know?). Again, thank you so much for the suggestion and i’ll get on this right away.

Just as an update, I have several models willing to shoot who are unapologetic about their body hair- unfortunately, none live close to me! I actually have shot several models with PCOS, but none with visible body hair (I realize how important it is to show body hair on women both in general and related to disabilities/illness). I just wanted everyone to know that I’m working very hard to get this done and if you want to help me travel, I’d appreciate spreading the word or contributing to my patreon which sustains my photography month to month (rather than a single travel to a single city, etc)  https://www.patreon.com/fatnakedartproject
