Sharing here bc i always get shit for saying it out loud, but everyone worships Bill. I think that’s why SK made him so selfish on the last battle with IT (cheating, leaving Eddie’s body with no second thought, etc). But I think the main reason as to why Eddie and Bill wouldn’t work out is bc I truly see their dynamic as both of them replacing empty spaces with the other. Eddie has a weird father worship thing going on, and Bill replaces the emptiness of Georgie with him 1/?
Like yes, Eddie has some amount of attraction towards him (like Richie had) due to the queer subcontext. But he wasn’t in love with him. There are many reasons as to why I always argue Reddie was canon and the subcontext of Eddie feeling more towards Richie is honestly throughout the book and made explicit and canon af during his death scene. And people can ship whatever they want idc. It just irks me when people say Eddie was canon in love with Bill and quote the book bc 2/?
Those quotes alone should be enough to tell you how unhealthy the relationship is? Eddie doesn’t talk as if he’s in love with Bill apart from mentioning he is handsome once. He worships Bill. In a different the rest do (bc even Ben worships Bill) bc he depends and guides his thoughts on what Bill wants to do. Eddie was raised in an abuse household where his mom did the same thing. And altho Bill treats him like a person and obviously not like his mom, Bill tells him what to do 3/?
And Eddie takes it like holy commands. That’s absolutely not loving a person it any way. Same with Bill, after Georgie is gone he takes an overprotective attitude towards Eddie as if he was responsible for what happens to Eddie, not like a friend or lover, but almost parent/older brother like. He wants to tell Eddie what to do (really all of them lmao) and wants to say what’s best for him. Not in a toxic way like Sonia. But like an elder responsible for him. Bill is Eddie’s replacement 4/
For a good parental figure and Eddie is Bill’s replacement for a younger brother figure. There’s a reason why after everything Eddie reacts and jumps is to the hearing of *Richie’s* voice and wants to say his last words to him. The same way there’s a reason that after Bill found the catharsis of defeating IT, and finally feeling like he did Georgie justice, he didn’t even attempt to try to carry Eddie’s body nor did he attempt to say goodbye. On their last moments of panic and life 5/6
And on their last impulses their hearts weren’t with each other. Eddie jumped to Richie’s voice as well as attempted to confess before dying, and Bill’s brain was entirely in IT and Audra. Not Eddie. SORRY THIS WAS SO LONG I HAD TO GET IT OFF MY CHEST 6/6
