Floraverse is a comic about brightly colored animal things that's hard to explain. It started out fairly straight-forward and then spun into cryptic, convoluted inscrutibility. The comic's done by someone named Glip, and there are lots of posts about the horrible things Glip's done but no straightforward ones about what their comic is actually about and what happens in it. The wiki on the site is deliberately unhelpful, with one or two sentence summaries of characters and almost no summaries of any actual stories. It's also way out of date.
Could this be the least useful wiki entry ever made in the history of wikis???
I wouldn't say Floraverse is a good comic, but it's one that bothers me because I feel like it wants to tell some kind of story but it's so all over the place it's incredibly hard to put together. So I'm just going to summarize all of it here and see if it makes any more sense. Maybe there are some of you out there that also want to try and understand what happens in this comic and will be interested. idk.
These posts were originally made at [email protected], these are just Tumblr mirrors. Due to the text limit on Tumblr some of the posts have been broken into pieces.

There that meme is again! One of the few things Glip's ever been right about.
It's really tough to say, TAL's jargon is even more dense than usual. Batteries are an Arcus thing where a person who's "resonating" with an angel gives up the angel to Arcus for privileges. Maybe it's something about moving w0z from Eastar to Owel and time traveling...? Disconnecting them from their battery source? Very hard to make any sense of.
Possibly? I can't remember what was and wasn't in there. It does have a lot of info for people also stuck on this awful ride with me, new or old. Worth taking a look if you haven't yet and can't stop staring into this abyss.
They definitely do look like circuit patterns which has to be intentional. The idea of it being the equivalent of like, demonic tongues is interesting and would explain why it's so incredibly hard to pull apart. It's so annoying because it almost seems like it SHOULD be understandable, but there's always just enough information missing so you can't ever be sure. It'd be less frustrating if TAL's dialogue was just "b;arhrhj bargrhh brhgahwarhhh" at this rate.
Looking at it again yeah, I think you're right, it's definitely meant to be penetration in silhouette. How does this VN just get creepier and creepier!!! Ugh!!
It's all not going to make sense anyway, you might as well just read the main comic first, then the Forbidden Flora stuff (particularly ROM), then go through the outside stuff.
Thankfully the internet archive is on the job! You can always count on them! Relive the insane memories for yourself!
Routine Maintenance, art/story by w0z, music/title image by glip
This is going a bit out of order, but this VN got taken down a while back and finding it in a readable state is kind of annoying, so now that I have it up and working (thanks to some helpful anons) I might as well summarize it now and get it out of the way.
Routine Maintenance is set after the MS Paint Era when everything got moved to Eastar, although this is still drawn in MS Paint. It takes place in some random place in Eastar we've never heard of called Talsam, which only got talked about in some tl;dr lore map filled with jargon (I think they like social media there?) and it stars characters we've never heard of or seen before who never show up again, as far as I know. So what's the point?
Well, this VN was written and drawn by w0z (also goes by Iz i think?), a longtime member of the Floraverse community and a friend of glip's. At one point, someone in the discord (I usually refer to them as Minor A, although they weren't actually a minor when this happened which slipped my mind. Let's go with P now.) got into a relationship with w0z and told him about a COCSA experience they had on a bus. This prompted w0z to open up to her about how he had sexually assaulted people on buses in high school, and he later commissioned glip to draw art of his character raping Masked Papaya as a way to show "what a monster" he'd be if he acted on feelings and urges he had about P. He then also made this VN where there's a rape on a bus specifically to deal with more intrusive thoughts he had about P.
So, after P broke from the community, they made a zine about this whole experience calling out both w0z and glip for enabling all this and keeping the vn up. What did glip do about it? If you guessed they took w0z's side about it, you'd be right!! They posted a punch of P's dirty laundry publically on twitter to try and discredit them and continue to insist to this day that this VN is actually about them and not P, even though w0z pretty clearly stated that it was about P. That's all been deleted now I think.
So basically like so many of the comics on the 18+ site, this VN has entirely too much real life baggage. Since it was taken down though, there's a lot of talk about it but not too much about what happens in it. There's a way to see it via the Wayback Machine but it's a bit fiddly. So maybe this tl;dr entry summarizing it will also serve as a reference for when people wonder wtf actually happened in Routine Maintenance. Not unlike my post for the original Circlet of the Sun!
Anyway, the title image is some kind of cat creature holding a black TALcat doll. This image is still up on the site. The VN opens with a scribble, as all good VNs do.
got dinner rolls on my head
The room fills in behind whoever this is. They're looking at a tablet with a blue egg on it which might be some kind of game? Maybe an art tablet? Unclear.
find my eggs
We cut back to them in their room, although now they're a silhouette with a circle and an x through it over them. The background goes black and the words "Someone will be hurt" are overlaid on their silhouette. We cut to a shot of a face in the darkness that looks rather MLP-ish. This face is w0z (the character... maybe), and text appears around them with the words, "w0z began to remember what happens when you ignore a problem", with a shot of a bloody shirt and what appear to be bloody handprints on bus seats. The words "when you don't take the heat" appear with the shot of the back of someone's neck with a bunch of scratches, then the words "when you don't take action" with a shot of someone's phone and texts saying "Did you hear? She passed".
Knowing this is about w0z's sexual urges towards P makes this so incredibly creepy.
has anyone seen my pupils
The face's eyes fill in with a blue screen, as text says that w0z ran a bunch of tests and simulations to try and figure out how to solve an unsolvable problem. We get a shot of two yellow scribbles in what might be a car with text about how there are zero results found for when everyone is happy.
more of a suggestion of a car
I have no idea who these people are. The one on the left with the orb for a head is designated the "HERO", with the words "the "HERO" of this story failed their duty bestowed upon them by one they cherished". More text says that w0z thought the whole thing reeked of 'cringe' and wonders who'd want to be in that situation, and why this "hero" thought they could make a difference. It then says w0z saw the folly of heroism and made the easiest decision of their life. There's then a shot of what looks like a broken cord or rope with the words REMOVE CARE.
We cut back to blue scribble at the desk (?) with a red smile painted on and red text wondering why they should care when there's so much work to do.
like finishing my art. wait
This gets overlaid with a white panel of what appears to be a clearer shot of this blue scribble who is apparently w0z (the character? the personal fursona? i have no idea). Anyway, it says that w0z was so taken with the idea that being a feeling-less robot would solve their problems, rather than take risks to help their friends, that they forgot what their point. Red text adds that they just wanted any excuse to be a generic villain.
who's the leader of the creep that's made for you and me. m-i-c-k-e-y
Another red panel goes over it with that same circle and x, this time seemingly rotating. Text says w0z saw this route and decided to take action to prevent it from existing, doing everything they could to become care-less, with a shot of some circuit-boardy lines. ANOTHER panel overlays, this one blue with some anime triangle shades on it lol, as text says they hoped someone would be their hero because they desperately wanted one but would never admit it. Red text scribbles out the anime glasses as new text says that w0z was fine never asking for help cause heroes are lame maaaannnn.
It cuts to a black road with crosswalk lines on it, saying that heroes care too much about others while pretending they don't expect a reward, which is written in blue. "Selfless" is just a state of poisoning yourself, it continues, again marking words in blue, so you can bar yourself from wants and desires that aren't self-sustaining. Some new lines appear that cut the crosswalk into the floor in front of some windows.
delicious moon cheese
"It's self harming if anything makes people happy?" the text asks rhetorically. "Since when is it your job to make people happy? Are you a clown?" do you amuse me "Then who's job is it to make you happy? Who gets to be your hero clown? When will you grasp happiness for yourself?"
We cut back to that tablet the scribble was looking at before, where the blue egg appears to be hatching. We get another clearer shot of w0z dismayed by this, and they look like a Hot Topic x-eye panda. They're annoyed that their emotions keep interfering with all their programs, intentional or not.
surprised there aren't safety pin earrings
They wonder if they should start over or keep what they have. They're working on an AI with a "helpful" personality, and the emotions they're exploring with the AI are conflicting with their own. w0z rolls their eyes, thinking that people who shove help on others are so annoying. Red text appears saying "Help? Why? You have to help yourself in this world." w0z says "yeah srsly" out loud to this.
We get a shot of w0z sitting next to a TALdoll, with text saying it's easy to stop caring about consequences when people don't speak up. This gets overlaid with a bus, so here we are at the rape scene. Again, keep in mind that all of this was inspired by a REAL sexual assault P had and the monstrous urges and intrusive thoughts that hearing about this assault brought up in w0z (the author).
Red text says that w0z should know, each stress test is a trial. We get a shot of the silhouette of someone's torso with text saying "it's not like abuse is limited to those who aren't cared for." A red pawprint appears on the silhouette's chest with more text saying "in fact, most abuse happens when there is too much care." Another red pawprint appears on the silhouette's hip, with "care is tossed around and claimed so often that it's impossible to tell what will happen to you." Another red pawprint appears lower and is partly cut off but it's implied to be in the genital area, with text saying "Most AI have boundaries. it's up to testing to see if they'll uphold them."
P says that w0z groomed them for a year, btw
We cut back to a shot of the bus, this time with pawprints on the seat and the other seats filled with pins. The text now says that some argue that dolls exist to be violated, that they take the place of those we'd otherwise harm. But we are all made to be someone's doll at some point, it continues, someone's experiment. The bus disappears to be replaced with a film reel, with new text saying that we all become actors to play out someone's fantasy. Unwillingly in P's case here, since this VN was made without her consent or knowledge.
The text continues, saying that we're cast based on qualifications or built from the ground up just to play a role, replaying pleasure (shot of w0z smiling) or replaying pain (shot of TALdoll with no expression). "Until we're just memories to be replayed over and over and over and over" with another roll of film behind the first one, one frame with w0z sitting on the doll and grinning and another shot of the red pawprints on the torso.
The pins in the other seats change into TALdolls with text saying "we also seek validation this way, finding purpose in belonging. maybe we brought this on ourselves, wanting to belong." We cut to what appears to be two white strips on a black background with a blob in the center, and text says that w0z ensures customers/investors that the process is safe, saying that stress tests are meant to test an AI's boundaries. Given that P referred to w0z in their zine as "the Predator", I have to assume he has a lot of experience in pushing boundaries.
We get a silhouette of w0z with a panel on one side of them riding something, I think, and another on the right with them on top of the TALdoll, with text saying that "w0z puts each AI through traumatic experiences to see if they react properly because someone has to teach them. who better than their parent/creator." The colors flip to a bright blue and w0z's silhouette fills in with them with a happy smile saying that's okay. They reassure the viewer that the memories get erased and the AI leave the simulation returning to the way they were before.
This gets overlaid with some red blocks and text adding "just with some junk data that's illegible."
my raping is important, for science
The red blocks disappear as w0z complains that Haywire (the TALcat doll, presumably) never reacts to any tests and just "takes it like a champ", and they don't need to test it "constantly" but they have to figure out why it doesn't break. We get a shot of Haywire's silhouette with a bunch of rambling text from w0z in the background, saying that Haywire isn't theirs so they can make harsher and harsher tests for it, and that if they can figure out why it's so resilient they could make a huge breakthrough. They clarify that they still erase its memory each time since they aren't a MONSTER and that they're actually doing it a favor. It has no business walking around after what it's been through, it should break but it doesn't. Haywire gets a bit glitchy.
i hope P likes this VN i made about how much i like raping her
We get an undershot of someone and I think it's w0z on their back. They talk about how addictive it is to turn off your emotions and how it makes things easier and more convenient, and that you can set them aside for self preservation. We then cut to a shot of w0z in some purple goop lookin kinda melty, cause gotta get some of that in here.
Text says that their status is poisoned due to venom injection, substance abuse, witholding emotions, and bottling desire. The symptoms are disregard for well-being (self+others), careless behavior, reduction to simplified form, insatiable desire, vomiting, melting, death, leaving everyone and everything you've ever cared about behind, and throwing your life away for addiction.
We get a shot of w0z's eye with some rhetorical questions. How do you know when it's too much? When do you feel enough is enough? Maybe when you're bored? Maybe when you're dead. w0z's eye goes from an x to an o at the last one. We get a shot of two shapes on black with more questions: When are you satiated? When is it too far? They get trimmed down with black and I'm not sure if this is supposed to be a greater shape or something. I don't see it if it is.
two sockpuppets yelling at each other
It goes to a black frame, then goes back to the white shapes but this time with blue liquid dripped on them and the text has changed. "How far? How much? How deep? Too big? Too fast? Too close?" as the shapes get bigger. They get small and it goes black again. Maybe these are supposed to be eyes? I'm not sure. They come back again with some more questions: How full? How long? Too many? Too painful? How strong? Too dangerous? Yet again the shapes get big and then small. This time it goes to a blue splatter with "How much is too much?"
it's not white, it's fine right
It then ends with a final note from glip (?) on the credits screen saying "go no further". With full context of what inspired this VN it's insanely creepy. Glip insists that this is about them but what a weak argument. Then again, for a narcissist everything is always about them.
from what im assuming >design wise<, that weird mouse creature you constantly see in Glip's posts (also appears to be one of Glip/Eevee's plushie) is likely to be Stolas, they both kind of share the same design similarities + Stolas has been show both in comic and in some artwork by Glip themselves as multiple different forms, that "explains" why are there so many weird characters that looks like Stolas in Westside Spetacular, i believe its likely because he is a masked owl, since they sare an oddly abstract body shape(?) but im not sure if masked owls can change their forms like gelbeasts and elemental drops do, but idk, its Glip, they're not gonna explain everything unless you join the cult to see almost the entire lore that is still vagueposty as hell
Speaking of weird Andre/Stolas like creatures, theres a new odd character thar appears in Westside Spetacular at the near end, its like Phesund but pink looks a bit like that gemmed egg that Stolas got born, i believe their name is Shansi, Shanzi(?). Its very likely that its one of Stolas reincarnations and looks like theyre related more to Stolas than Phesund (they appear in the clip with unmasked Stolas like theyre familiar with eachother, like Gaap was with him?), even if it dosen't really make sence since the pink thing is obviously a Pizky, but Floraverse in general dosen't make sence so maybe i am wrong or right, who knows??
Aha! So that explains that. We know he can do that since Andre can change his shape as well. I assume it's because they're off-shoots or manifestations of aspects of the troupe? Goddamn Troupe.
I do think that cotton candy Phesund/Stolas is him in one shape or another, maybe fusing together for convenience's sake? Since Phesund and Stolas can co-exist, I think. Although then again that was all part of some kind of dream sequence so WHO KNOWS, MAYBE IT'S NOTHING
I know they did because that's how I first found out about them, but I have no idea where they'd be now. I think Glip deleted almost everything at one point or another. You might have luck looking for stuff under the PurpleKecleon name though.
I also remember this and being annoyed by it!! Why even have a wiki then!! Ugh!! My guess is that it was either a pretentious "you can't ascribe meaning to my Art" kind of moment or they didn't want to spoil people about all the incoherent things they had planned. It would also reveal how badly written it all is too though now that you say that lol.
Always glad to hear other people are in this awful boat with me lol. To be fair, Glip was a good artist although their worldbuilding was weak, but that can be enough for most people. I still need to finish reading through those PMD-E stories...
It starts with The Show Must Go On arc, I forget what number that is though. You can find it in my index under "Floraverse Goes Completely Off The Rails".
to the previous anon, the gourmet gauntlet wasn't exactly an RP. It happened in the earlier days of Floraverse, when it behaved more like the PMD-E group: the admins/owners (back then, glip and marl and i cant remember who else) provided thematic prompts which served as a base for the community members to create works of art/writing/etc for. I don't think the gourmet gauntlet moved the story forward in a specific direction like the Discord RPs seem to these days, it was mostly for people to "engage" with the world and each other, and for worldbuilding, I guess. It's why some of the animal species sheets have food-related "stats" in them
the Mew York one (which, i think, was the very first Floraverse... thingy) worked similarly to that, and it was posted to this blog earlier this year (or last year?). It was essentially about an immigration crisis Mew York was going through, as Owel suddenly received a massive influx of migrants from the other continents, which seemed to be suffering from unspecific climate/environmental catastrophes. There is no mention (that i can remember) of the disaster that drained Mew York of magic, but it does talk about the foreigners bringing magic traditions, implying mew york is devoid of it; i'll have to re-read it to make sure, tho
there was also the treasure hunt prompt, which is mentioned in some of the stories posted on the website (the one featuring anana and micle and the eagle and pigeon characters; Cargo, I just remembered), but i don't think any of these actually mattered in the grand scheme of things concerning floraverse's overarching... plot... Not that it has one...
none of these plotpoints (I dont know what to call them) relate to each other or went anywhere, i don't think; well, i guess the Conductor is still around, at least, and the mew york mayor is a snake thing that shows up in one of the species sheets (basilisk? chimera? i forget)
I see, thank you for the information! That period in Floraverse history always seems so fuzzy. The only thing that's been brought back I think has been Mew York, and just in the context that some kind of disaster drained it of magic that was related to the four masks, one of which being the Mask of the Sun (the one Glip uses to self-insert), which Srinivasa found that turned them into Call-Clout. If I remember right I think at one point MALwire was also blamed for dessicating the city? Since it wasn't clear if Srinivasa was actually responsible or not. Not that it really matters, that's all been completely forgotten now.
*their team.
The comic site remains dead, but Glip's been posting a few comics here and there on Bluesky. They're roleplaying as glipPET now, the boingy static, so they sound very manic all the time. At the same time they've come up with ANOTHER self-insert character more in the style of Ms. Warmheart, I don't know what their name is, and did a multi-page comic with them. They're apparently Buchbrennerin's assistant but it's just Glip again.
Glip really hates it when people tell each other to kill themselves, which is so odd considering they publically said they regretted keeping someone from killing themselves. I guess it's not the same if you just do it in a really passive-aggressive way.
Glip continues to have anger issues.
It does seem like these two aren't angels anymore or are somewhere else but who knows. Who knows if any of this is related to anything.
That pointy mouse again! Still don't know who that is or what their deal is.
More German, thanking new Glipsert for something I think.
Uh oh, a hater!! It's been a long time since one's shown up. Not sure who this is a strawman of. Seems like they're a (frightened whisper) drunk.
Kind of shark-like? They look too specific to not be somebody.
Buchbrennerin being Kuri's character. Is Glip fighting with their new favorite? The line between characters and Glip is paper-thin. On the other hand they're still retweeting stuff from each other, so i don't know.
No idea what all this vagueing is about, but maybe the mouse plushy is Stolas?? When did that happen???
Glip and Eevee also made a porn game called Rose Hips starring Lexy and Papaya and given how annoying those characters are I've given it a pass. As far as I can tell Lexy turns into Papaya's penis and they wander around talking to people having sex. I doubt there's any lore in there but maybe someone who has more of a tolerance for the VNs can take a look. Otherwise I might just do it myself if I have some time to kill.
it's been years now. Will we ever see the "pole star" character from seeds 4.5 and i think itchy itchy, the white blobby thing that is having a meeting with baphomet?
also, to clarify, most of those discord screencaps are random people theorizing/speculating. Not all of them are RP players, so i don't think they necessarily have much more info than we do (RP channels are off-limits to non-RPers and RP content is not usually discussed in open channels because they are seen as "spoilers", since those scenes might show up in future VNs). Some of these users are a little less lost/confused than others, though; and, well, they ARE IN the server.
Some of these users are RP mods or helpers, so they prolly know more than the average player. Others are just closer to glip, personally or worldbuilding-wise. Names like "scape", "temtempo", "pengosolvent", probably "samaelbretondragon", "brackishwater", "razca" and maybe "doublejaphet" MAY be (huge I THINK there) a little more reliable when it comes to official info. I think the scape person is also a florawiki editor too.
one more thing before i go for now. my mind's wrecking trying to understand how frequency shifts actually work; are they a rewrite of the current reality, or are we, the audience, just jumping our focus from one parallel reality to another? Like, let's say Frequency 1 is owel-centered, but eastar also exists there. There's also Frequency 2, which is eastar-centered and owel may or may not exist there. So, what happened in the 25hr war was.... Frequency 2 eastar (or arcus, i guess) somehow... attacked Frequency 1 owel...? I'm basing this on the opa story that was posted and some discord stuff i read (i'll screengrab it when i have the time, i gotta find it again). Or maybe each continent is its own... self-contained reality? Every supposition seems to contradict stuff we've seen, it's so damn confusing and there's no overarching coherence to these mechanics
I doubt it, it feels like Glip forgot the Pole Star even existed. With the amount of time Glip spends on Floraverse I have to imagine they keep all the lore in their head straight but so much stuff seems to happen randomly and then get totally dropped.
Frequency shifts are described as alternate realities where some things are subtly different. Well supposedly subtly, sometimes it changes fairly large things. AUs upon AUs. I'm not sure if frequencies can attack each other? You can go from one to the other in various ways but I'm not sure how aware they are of each other. Teslic Yard seemed to be messing with that, and TAL seems to know a lot about them. Frequency shifts seem to accompany changes to other continents which also doesn't help.
I also remember this! They joked about killing off Cozmo at the time, although he disappeared into the void anyway so it doesn't really matter. They were very big on how diverse and queer their cast was at the time. They don't seem to do that as much now though.
I do wonder if the male characters' relative popularity played a part in their disappearance, particularly since new male characters have been taking the center stage lately. Maybe they had a turnaround on it all? I think Glip has conflicting feelings about Andre for sure, thus why they keep reworking and redesigning him constantly. It's a shame since his first incarnation was the best one.
I remember this getting mentioned a few times on the site, but if there was any kind of write-up or comic about it it never got uploaded there. I have no idea what happened in it. It was probably on Deviantart at some point.
I don't remember hearing about the Mew York one, I wonder if that's connected to it being drained of all magic? It's mentioned a few times but it's never explained what happened there.
sorry, i don't have anything of value, so here are some random screencaps of the leaked discord that are either lore-related or making-of-stuff-related, which may help with your theorizing (or maybe it will have the opposite effect); more to come in the future, maybe?
have "fun"
https://postimg.cc/gallery/ghwZs1V
Thank you! Some bits here, although I'm not sure if it's just people in the discord speculating or if it's actually confirmed. I assume people in the discord have access to all the background info lowly comic readers aren't allowed.
Static, the pointy thing, was made by Teslic Yard to look into alternate universes. It found TAL and pulled her into the current world, or allowed her to be made, something like that. A lonely door was made to pull her in? It's mentioned that lonely doors are what Chisel uses to get around. Still not entirely sure what a lonely door is. Static maybe can reset a universe/frequency if it gets bad.
Really struggling with the idea that Glip hates their audience lol.
Not every sequence in Floraverse takes place in the same universe, like Cozmo time and Lily time in Call Sign. Already knew that, but it again raises the question about why should anyone care about anything when it could change at the drop of a hat or get erased on a whim?
The long VN update for ROM on ForbiddenFlora was based on stuff going on with Sila and Glip at the time. Glip wrote it with the idea of being stabbed in the chest and Sila picked up on it, but personally I didn't pick on it anywhere at all. Unless they're talking about some other thing that mentions knives, I just read it and I don't remember knives getting mentioned anywhere. At that point Sila and Glip still seemed to be on good terms but I suspect already Glip quietly resented them. As usual it comes down to Glip being mad about being lumped in with Marl again, as though they didn't knowingly cover up for him for years.
Plot things actually happened in the old one lol. Fairly significant ones too! The story moved from one frequency to another, so basically shifted to a whole new version of reality. In the new one Glip supposedly stops puppeting Papaya's body but who cares, it's really just them proclaiming their innocence in covering up Marl's dograping and creeping on minors again. I guess you could say that they share the theme of Glip being the most ultimate victim ever of everything and all pity and sympathy should go to them and them only.
I do kind of remember this, I think it was in a testimonial on the Floraverse is a cult site. I don't really remember the details though. People being weird about Andre must have played a huge part in them trying to rework him into something new. I wonder if Glip also resented how popular he was compared to some of their other characters...?
To bring some insight on what happened between teebsly and glip: Teebsly used to obsess over and selfship HARD with Andre, he was all they drew for around a year. Glip seemed to tolerate this but they eventually had a falling out when Teebsly drew tons of porn of Andre, which made Glip extremely uncomfortable.
References to this pop up occasionally in Floraverse. In The World Egg there's a scene where Andre asks someone named Faith if they "had fun violating him" - this part is explicitly about Teebsly and their treatment of Andre
I have a feeling that all the weirdness surrounding Andre splitting into different characters is Glip's way of 'reclaiming' the character, as original Andre likely holds a lot of emotional baggage for them.
Aha, thank you! That fills in some missing pieces of my theories nicely. I was sure that someone had been drawing porn of Andre (although... how does that work) since Glip talked about it and thus why I assume they reworked Andre to reclaim him as you said. It being Teebsly would explain that and why V3 has vanished and they blocked them. I mean, aside from the comic going completely off the rails as an explanation for V3 disappearing. I don't know what other characters Teebsly might have been involved with but I assume they also all disappeared. Everything always connects to RL drama eventually!
I also think of the post-Call Sign period as its own kind of thing, the tone just shifted so wildly from then on. Only five years for all of that before the wheels came off...
It does feel like a dead site, it really seems like at this point Glip just uploads whatever thing they've made and leaves. I think I remember them saying they wanted to redo the site at some point but I'm doubtful that'll happen. Combining all the out-of-date banners and such with how it hasn't updated in [checks notes] seven months now really makes it seem completely dead.
I really wanted to know about what is the deal behind the other regions/places in Topside other than Eastar and Owell...
Cenastre is apparently the place of origin of Andre and the Troupe and also the fact that this place was "destroyed" or "burned"? (Idk if Cenastre is really destroyed or not since theres a mini comic in the recent story that takes place in Cenastre) And its aparently the place that used to locate in Glip's old project "PMD-E", idk if you saw the recent map in Cenastre but it shows a few places from PMD-E like Tao Village
Glissod is the place of origin from Min and Cress (long time we never seem them) that was also going to get the same fate as Cenastre if Min never planted the seeds, but we dont really know what happened with the seeds or Min and Cress since Glip abandoned the initial premise from Floraverse, the recent stories from the Seeds arc dosen't really show anything from the older stories other than the Blinds, but almost never the main characters and the seeds, we will never really know the fate of Glissod, other than the fact that Glip opened an RP from this place so i guess its fine
(The Seeds arc ended in War is Hell, period)
But Jewell, we barely seem anything, the only mentions of it is on that infamous Mismatch Comic (the Quillion dude is from that place) and in one of the species sheet (the Cottontail sheet),Jewell and Glissod are the only places in floraverse that dosen't have a map other than Elsewhere (i have zero idea what is the weird dimension the Angels live other than Eastar in Topside) and Jewell is the only place ever in Floraverse that dosen't get much mentions
Cenastre is a big question mark still, we were told it was burning forever but recently things seem to be set there and Quixate is supposedly from there. At the same time though, Prob talked to Buchbrennerin and seemed to imply there was a way to restore Cenastre, so something still seems to be up with it, although it's not clear what.
For the other continents I really have no recollection, they all blur together into a bunch of indistinguishable pun names. It's true that the only mention of Jewell I can remember is from Mismatch though, I don't think we've heard anything else about it. I guess people from there have accents?
If I had to guess it'd be due to the Marl revelations. V3 or whatever characters they were working on together would have been before that bombshell dropped. I think artists who worked on or were inspired by Floraverse stuff have a kind of distinct over-detailed look to their characters. You can kind of see the influence.
They definitely all blur together for me, and the cross-species variants can all look so different. I can only tell them apart when they have an obvious tell, like Rabbats with six ears, or those weird aliens with the curlycue faces, or Scrapgoats with the + - eyes. Otherwise it's just like "weird cat/rabbit/wolf/dog with stuff on it".
Neon and Lily (+ Jupet's) family tree is kind of an enigma by seeing your posts so im kind of curious (and confused) to know wich is wich, i know that Jupet has a sister named Shizu (idk if she has an important role in the series other than the Turf Tiger stories made by Opa/Tem, i do know theres a character named "Shizukan" that appears in "Seeds: War is Topside" in the Althar story, but i have zero idea if they have some connection with her or its just the name that is similar)
I do know that theyre apparently the kids from Sylvan, but Shizu's parent is not mentioned somewhere, we do know that her parent is likely a turf tiger since Lily (Jupet's mother) is just a cat
Agan, Neon's family is huge and kind of more of an enigma than Lily's
I know that Neon had a mother who "abandoned her" (likely due to her being trans) and her father in wich i forgot his role in the story, and her sister Xenon whos seems to be Neon's "mentor" at some point in her childhood? (For some reason, they have more role in the ROM story, i swear, i feel like this story should had been in the main website instead of ForFlora, it was just there likely because of the sex toys in the first panels, and Cherry Kisses is mentioned in a recent story, so who knows 🥲)
Theres also Krypto, but i have zero idea if theyre even related or just similar, Krypto shares almost the same species as Neon but she is part necropossum instead, so idk (we likely don't know who Krypto's mother)
And theres also a character named "Led Neon" that appears only in two nsfw panels, but idk if shes an actual character, a part of Neon's family or just an alternative version of her
Shizu is definitely related to Jupet and Sylvan just by their patterns and markings, although I'm not sure if they have the same mother. Given that Jupet only refers to Lily as "Lily" and not Mama like she calls Sylvan Papa makes me wonder if Lily adopted Jupet after their biomom died or disappeared in some way. Then again genetics in Floraverse are nonsense so who can say. I'm almost positive Shizu, Jupet, and Sylvan are related though.
Shizu hasn't shown up too much but it's been implied that she went through some kind of abuse at Sylvan's hands, and that Sylvan was planning or did the same kind of abuse to Jupet. It's just Glip working through their own trauma through the characters though, so who knows if that'll actually stick or not. Other than that I don't think she's really done anything.
Neon's mother did abandon her, although I wouldn't say it was entirely because she was trans although that played a part. She got freaked out by how Neon kept eating batteries and doing body mods to herself due to her Scrapgoat heritage, so she passed her off to her dad since she thought he'd know more about how to deal with that kind of thing and possibly how to give her a female body with all the body mod stuff. She never visited her again after leaving her with him though. Her dad only really shows up in her backstory, and Xenon's shown up a few times. Shoot, I forget if Xenon is the one with the headlamp or not. Well anyway they do show up and help Neon in their backstory, and they've shown up a bit more recently trying to get something out of Krypto's tail, though we never found out what. Headlamp sibling also didn't believe Shizu when she talked about Sylvan's abuse, and they worked with Sylvan doing experiments and such as well, so there's also that.
I think Krypto and Neon are half-siblings, I'm not sure who Krypto's mom is. In the original canon frequency Neon didn't have ANY siblings and then she got four in the frequency shift, so. I don't remember seeing LED Neon but I'm going to assume she's just an alternate version of her.
Possibly? I don't know what Tumblr flags as spam. I've had urls get through okay before. idk. I wonder if Pecanshore City showed up in any PMD-E things or if it was just a part of this Acanthite thing?
If they worked together than he was probably familiar with their comic, but the bleeding X O designs have been around for ages, lots of Devart edgy furry artists loved them. I wouldn't trace those back to Glip specifically.
theres an archive from the PMD-E tumblr, in wich found a kind of interesting post
Considering Floraverse is a spiritual sequence to PMD-E, lots of characters (and even designs) are reminicent from the characters from the group, or even the pokemon itself, Min is likely to be the Celebi Jasmine and Cress is a Manaphy (tho, in the PMD-E Wiki, theres also a Phione character that is shown to be friends with her, so i'm also assuming Cress is based of that character) and the continent of Cenastre too
Theres seems to be an old concept art post advertising some Floraverse designs for the old fans of that RP, a few of these characters may seem familiar (either with Floraverse or PMD-E)
We have Quillion (the elephant from Mismatch) as Shroomsworth, this weird sea dragon/cockatrice(?) thing as Sandy, a Rock Candy as Rhodes and Papaya as PK (obviously)
Most of these characters didn't had much appearances close with Papaya, nor seems to be mentioned in the actual comic, so im assuming this is mostly just a concept. Papaya/PK's shop in PMD-E is still up in Floraverse and Glip did had plans on bringing stuff from the old RP group onto Floraverse.
But i doubt they're going to bring back these characters, other than Papaya and Quillion's only mention in Flora was in the Mismatch comic. Considering how this was one of the most controversial comics, i guess its probably a reason
And compared to early Floraverse (2013), mid/late Floraverse is not about the themes from PMD-E anymore, nor Min and Cress with the seeds so it dosen't matter anymore
Yeah, this archive definitely confirms that Floraverse was supposed to be a sequel of sorts to PMD-E and was advertised as such to people who were following PMD-E. Quillion is interesting since Glip said that they roleplayed out Mismatch with Quillion's player, or something along those lines. Maybe they were both brainstormed Quillion's design together, I don't know. Almost all the PMD-E character expies have disappeared though except Papaya, since she's just Glip. It sounds like PMD-E ended in a burst of drama which isn't surprising with Glip's projects.
Do you mean this flowercat?
I think it is supposed to be TAL, a similar cat appeared at the end of Try Try Again labeled as TAL/The Assembly Line.
Or at least a "fingerpuppet" of TAL's. A vector for her or Glip at times at least.
I checked out the VN you mentioned and it's hard to think of it getting any kind of larger appeal like Flora or Alfred. I mean Alfred is edgy and dark but you can at least interpret it as someone's venting about their sexual abuse, the VN seems more like gross loli porn for 4channers without much else to it. I think that's a harder sell than the other two. But I only just heard about it, I don't know.
I understand the comparison and Homestuck DID predate PMD-E by two years I think but I don't think it was deliberate. PMD-E started as a DeviantArt RP I think, so prompts and roleplays and big casts of characters are kind of baked in. Floraverse just picked up that banner and turned into Glip's personal project since they didn't trust other people to do their vision justice, from that archive up there. Glip is still doing RPs even now in the setting, so I think that more than anything is what powers the whole thing, which isn't quite the same thing as Homestuck. They DID both start as being more influenced by readers/players and then getting completely taken over by the respective authors though. Homestuck also had everything connected in obtuse and convoluted ways while Floraverse hops from disconnected story to disconnected story randomly.
Of course, it doesn't have to be deliberate for something to be influenced by something else, and Homestuck was everywhere at the time. Glip definitely borrowed from MLP for Orobas and Amdusias...
i don't think this is really gonna help because floraverse is all over the place and very retconn-y, but here are my personal interpretations of some of the terms we've seen, based on my (not very accurate) memory of the latest VNs
pin: meta-wise, a visual representation of a random person (or whatever is the 'person' equivalent in floraverse) or crowds. In-universe, someone who either has no identity/personality, or no individuality, or who is unimportant (plot-wise, i guess) at that moment/for that context, potentially powerless too
key: something someone has or is that allows for something (maybe currently inaccessible?) else to happen, a metaphor for opening a locked door?
ruleset/rules: a group of traits or "workings" someone posesses that can be enforced upon others or that can be made happen in the world, that will trigger specific events, or change the way reality is unfolding
that's all i have so far, would be interesting to know what OP and others think
These sound about right to me. I know a filled in pin and an empty pin mean different things, although I can't remember exactly what now... I think rules so far have been limited to Angels as opposed to any of the other groups. They haven't shown up as much after the MS Paint era.
Man i don't even want the full logs, I just want a summary! I don't care if it's really fragmentary and basic! I just want a basic IDEA of what happened in the RPs and what some of these things mean! It can't be that much to ask! Just have to hope someone in the Discords decides to share someday...
It's possible, anything could happen. I saw Alfred's Playhouse a million years ago and I was very surprised to learn it became a Tiktok thing recently. Right now it seems like whenever Glip or Floraverse gets brought up, the first thing anyone talks about is Marl and the abuse, so I think it might be hard for Glip to ever get out from under that cloud. But who knows?
I am curious about that VN you're talking about. Circlet of the Sun? Routine Maintenance? I'm not sure which one you mean.
Oh damn, I thought the official tumblr got wiped when Glip wiped their account but I guess not. There's a ton of posts though... going to take a while to work through.
Have I been bringing them up a lot? If I was I didn't mean to. All I really know about Jaxi is that they were dating Glip at one point and showed up in Circlet of the Sun being pretty reasonable, and they wrote up a doc about how Glip yelled at them in a Scene but they wanted it so it was okay. I haven't heard anything else, at least that I can remember. Not sure if they're still dating Glip or not, though it's not really my business in the end.
We don't really know what TAL is. There've been hints she's some kind of super AI from another dimension that got brought to the Floraverse world and enslaved in one fashion or another, although it's hard to say. MALwire is TAL after she got corrupted by a strawman of some dude Glip was mad at in real life and I guess she kind of got evil? But it wasn't clear, she didn't really do anything. Then she turned into TALwire and that was never explained either, she just showed up as TALwire behaving like she used to. So I guess she got better, maybe? idk
By weird cat do you mean the TALwire with the bitey half face? TALwire seems to change her form a lot for no apparent reason. Unless you mean Hothead? Hothead is Glip's angry side, so I guess in a sense they're kind of a god, but they're supposedly an angel in story.
I always thought hothead looked more like jasmaby, but I'm going off of the patterns in that one cover art pic for one of the recent comics (War? is Hellside or something iirc)
You mean this shot? I dunno, Jasmaby has such a long neck, it's kind of hard to mistake for anyone else to me. They are wearing similar outfits though.
Who are we talking about here? Nymlus? Jaxi? A few people popped up in Forbidden Flora.
back with unfortunately some context, the character in question is probably “V3nom”, she made by a artist called Teebsly who is a known lolicon artist that also draws incest and bestiality (I will not show any of that for your sake)
She was mostly a forbbian flora character and yes, Glip did have plans for her to be a character on the main site
Also Teeb has done things for the main site so putting v3nom on the main site kinda make sense (I am not defending the idea of putting a nsfw character onto a sfw site with a child audience, I am just guessing on why V3nom would be plan to be on the main site)
not pictured here is the designs for the aurorian pets they did, they might have done more but their Twitter is locked so I can’t look into it more
Aha, thank you! I forgot about V3nom. I don't remember them showing up a lot on ForFlor, but it's possible I don't remember them that clearly because the porn of them was really hard to parse. I think the robot/spider design is just hard for me to read when in a sex scene. I mostly remember one shot with them and Neon where I could barely tell what was going on.
Man, remember when there were comments on Floraverse pages...
Hey, could you add the floraverse docs and lore outside the floraverse website (ex, color theory doc, nurse to health story by opa opa, deleted vn's, paid docs etc) to the table of contents so people could find it faster and understand the lore better.
Not a bad idea, plus it'd make it easier for me to find these things later if I need to reference them.

Per your Dreamwidth post: "When Marl's bestiality and Glip's complicity in it came out, a lot of attention was paid to these bestality or bestality adjacent comics. I'm surprised some of them are still up, frankly. I know a very long one about some child-sized dragon getting raped by a pack of dogs got taken down." Which one is this? I never heard of it.
It was a Nymlus comic, maybe drawn by them to begin with? I'm not sure, but it was about Nymlus making a delivery in the mountains and being surrounded by a pack of "Maple Dogs", which was a species I think invented for the comic. Nymlus decides to let them all have sex (is that the right word for this?) with her so she can get through the pass safely. I can't remember the name of it though... something to do with maple or delivery maybe? I want to say it was like 20 or so pages. Maybe it's on e-hentai like Mismatch, I haven't gone looking, admittedly.
Edit - Found it, it's on e621 under "Knotted Wood".
It's not clear what KEYs are, it's never explained. >:( We get conflicting information about it and tiny pieces here and there but that's all. Something to do with emotions or angels, maybe?
Kuri is the player for Quixate and a few other characters, they're currently Glip's favorite and they might be dating? They seem very intense about each other anyway.
Was AF2 star savior a game or something? It's unsurprising that Glip would be hanging out with yet more creeps though. Did explode1 disappear or are they still out there? It'd be kind of funny if they were still involved with Glip to this day.
oh haha yeah I know that trivia to a T. another trivia factoid for you: Beleth and Amdusias cameod in one of the Steven Universe comics (Ongoing Issue 3 iirc, last 15 or so pages). Papaya also appeared in Chicory: A Colorful Tale as a backer character until they got replaced soon after the release of the game.
I remember both of those! The Steven Universe one is very funny considering Glip and co. bullied one of the writers off of Twitter over Pearl liking pie, if I remember right.
The early chapters of Seeds had occasionally oddly dark moments, but it was much more lighthearted than what it turned into. A lighthearted comic turning into a heavy-handed drama was definitely a common theme among webcomics though. Dominic Deegan comes to mind, although I don't know if that was ever about the author's personal drama. I guess after a while the authors/artists wanted to stretch out their dramatic storytelling muscles and it turns out that that requires a different skillset lol.
It looks like I lost your third comment? I don't remember hearing anything about this. If there's anything interesting buried in there let me know.
Right! It's so frustrating!
I do remember hearing about this so I looked into HypnotistSappho and wow, they're a real piece of work. Unsurprising that Glip would be involved with them, and given Glip's history, I think it's unlikely they were completely in the dark about Sappho's interests. I haven't seen any mention of them as a contributor or anything in the main comic, but if any new characters show up it'd be a good idea to keep an eye out for any Sappho tells.
What kind of adventures would Min and Cress have gotten up to? Would Cress kill more people? Would Cayenne be plot relevant? One can only imagine...
today i found out the creator of that one "i will now buy your game" comic that became a meme was made by Glip, probably one of those weird "trivias" that blew up my mind lmao
That's true, they did!
You can kind of tell if you're familiar with Glip's style. It's weird since I never ran into this meme until I started down this horrible Glip rabbithole. Thing is I do agree with them on this, unnecessary sexual dimorphism in games really ticks me off. Stopped clocks etc.
