I hate to break the chain of all these lovely bits of art but all I've got is this bit of this Crosshair and Tay'kaa fic that I'm slowly getting through.

Deep down, it was what Tay wanted. If he could, by the stars, he wanted to give that little girl a stable, peaceful life and the childhood he never got–the life Phelia never got to live. He knew that was the same for Crosshair. That’s where Crosshair was coming from, their pasts be damned. It was how Crosshair’s brothers and their partners all felt for their own kids, and to Tay’s horror, he realized he wanted that too.

A hand in Cal's hair keeps him from standing up, forced to kneel on the storage room's floor. It's the Togruta guard that approaches him, crouching to get on eye-level. “Thought I might see you here tonight,” she says, voice level and matter-of-factly. Her business partner, the blond human, clearly didn't care to be as professional as she is. He stands a little behind her, grinning widely.
