Your Bones, Like Stones: Faye and Evan

As Evan made his way back down the street toward Faye’s apartment he could just barley make her out in the dim flickering light of the lanterns and small fires that lined the now dark street. After his shower, finding Faye asleep he walked out front taking a seat on the small steps that lead up to the door. He hadn’t been there long when jack a proceed wanting to take him for “the nickel tour”. Seeing that things were calm and Faye was sleeping he thought it might be a good way to get a feel for the place. Jack took the time to point out areas that he wanted to improve. Areas that were security risks. Evan was sure that he could take care of all of his construction need, even with minimal help. Shortly after they had started back two men approached Jack needing a word with him and so Evan stepped aside. When Jack came back he shook Evans hand and told him he had a few things to tend to and that he would see him in the morning. Then they parted ways. Evan continued to walk and Faye began to come into focus. Her body outlined by shimmering light of the fires and sort of glow around her hair. “There you are sleepy eyes.” He spoke as he was now standing in front of her. “Everything ok?” @faye-rivers
When Faye finally saw him, she let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. The asshole... “Where’ve you been?” she hissed, looking around as people walked by, some staring, some minding their own business. “I wake up and you’re fuckin’ skint... what’d I tell you? Huh?” She snatched him by the arm and started walking back towards her apartment. “You don’t go anywhere without me. You don’t know this place. You don’t know them. You don’t know him.”
Jack was smart. Smart enough to make you believe he wasn’t. She’d seen it first hand. Made the same mistake herself. Let herself believe that he had her best interest in mind. When he only had his own. It was why she wanted to leave. But that would never happen. Especially not if her friend decided to make himself useful. Jack liked useful.
Jack kept useful.
