{{ wow, it’s been forever... how the hell have you all been?
“I suppose in the end it’s almost too easy to look back and say what you should have done, how you might have changed things. What’s harder - what’s much, much harder - is to accept what you actually did do.”
Peter Hook, Unknown Pleasures: Inside Joy Division (via mommylevi)
"My, you certainly look a little familiar." Erwin eyed the soldier curiously, certain he had seen her before.
Hearing the Commander she quickly glanced up from her book. Eyes widening she adjusted herself and raised her right hand to her chest and her left to her back saluting him. “Hello, Commander Erwin!” she spoke before shrugging. Everyone seemed to catch on so quick as she nodded. “I’m um.. Reiner Braun’s sister!” she added. Slowly lowering her hands as she kept her book close to her.
"Ah…family resemblance then." Certainly present in the bright blues and blond, though she could have passed as Arlerts sister as well. "If you don’t mind my asking, what were you reading?" The Commander had an unending love for books, curiosity getting the better of him.
The usual nervousness had bubbled inside of her. Swallowing it back she nodded with a giggle. "Probably so! People often ask me if they know me and well.. they usually don't." she admitted.
Glancing down at the book a new nervousness surfaced. Trying to keep down the feeling of panic as she shrugged. "Oh um.." she hesitated. Running her fingers over the leather book that had a broken spine which she had tied together with a string. "It's not really a book.. just my own studies book I guess.." she managed. Gripping onto it tightly as she smiled even more.

The change of position had been odd; Faye had been promoted to a Lieutenant or well to be more specific a Lieutenant in training. Not just that but she had been moved to a different squad in total and her plane had touched down. The petite blonde’s bright green eyes searched out among the airport. A man in all black stood with a sign with her name and as she climbed out she met up with him. Getting in the back of the car she rested her head against the glass as he drove her out to the base. There were bases all over the United States and of course they chose a fairy far one from her hometown to station her at.
Pulling at the long sleeves she glanced at the numbers; 00:00:30. That was insane; thirty seconds? The car came to a stop and she climbed out walking forward watching the numbers go down. As they hit zero she froze daring her eyes to slowly travel up as she let her sleeve drop. There they were met with Commander Erwin Smith. One of the best Commanders whom she had heard about; he was only a few years older but nonetheless. Silence fell over her and she cleared her throat before raising her hand to her forehead nervously. Making sure the 00:00:00 wasn’t visable.
"Commander Smith, Sir. Faye Braun reporting for duty." she somehow managed.

Rubbing her forehead she let out a sigh. Exhausted didn't even begin to explain how she felt having spent the whole night with Hanji. As she wandered back to her barricade she couldn't help but thing about her brother. Of course everyone informed her that Reiner was in fact in the Scouting Legion she hadn't seen him. So it made her wonder if everybody was just pulling her leg. Either way it wasn't nice nor was it fun.
Pausing she stood next to a window watching the rain hit the glass. Eyes tracing it as it slid down the window the small droplets seeming to come from everywhere. She could see them as children; her jumping into small puddles as she followed behind him and Bert. His calling for her to keep up. Taking food and hiding under wagons and edges of shop buildings. Slipping off her jacket she fixed the light blue shirt she wore. Setting the jacket down as well as her cloak she pushed open the door.
Another pause she made sure no one could see her. Once she was outside she closed her eyes at the rain. Holding her hands out she twirled slightly putting her head back. For a while she stood in silence before slowly opening her eyes and dropping her head. And she began; jumping from puddle to puddle and dancing around. As if she had reverted back to a child phase.
In a sudden moment something possessed her to look back over to the window and she saw him. Everything in her froze; it couldn't be. The hope in her is what made her call out his name. "Reiner.." she cried out; hoping he could hear her through the rain.

Pls hold cannot compute
The rage Erwin felt never subsided, but with this feeling, as though he was betrayed, it found a third target to aim it towards, though it was significantly lesser than the other two. “You are easily the most insubordinate brat I’ve ever met, do you know that?” He lets out a sigh, closes his eyes, and listens to the rain. “You cut me free, speak to me man to man, and perhaps I’ll decide if I want to make a deal with the likes of you. Disobeying direct orders from a commander is punishable harshly, so either way she is facing a special sort of hell.” As they cut him loose, he stands and dusts himself off. As the masked man reaches inside his coat Erwin smirks. “Careful there, you know what I can do when I am barely moving at all” he motions to the wrapped hand, “I wouldn’t try to do anything ridiculous.” Turning to the female, he has a much more serious look. “Right then, I suppose we talk business then, no? Might as well bound the little one to a chair, not like she’d be brave enough to run anyway.” As he finishes, he gives Faye a quick glance, giving her a similar look as to when they moved in on the library, the look of a man with a set plan that nothing would be getting in the way of.
Hearing that made her eyes widen as she glanced up. Swallowing hard she felt like a dagger pierced her heart. Remembering watching all of the Scouting Legion file in after mission from the basement as they made their way through walls. Her eyes followed him the whole time just like they did now. Yet this time instead of the feeling of rush and red cheeks her heart seemed to beat slower as if repairing itself. Hearing the rain pound on the roof was the only thing that kept from tears forming. Watching him untie as they spoke. The woman crossed her arms clearly amused as the man cursed a bit before nodding. “Follow me.” the woman spoke up and nodded him over to a small table in the corner. Sitting down she offered the table before looking over at the man. “Go get a drink, will you?” she told him. As the man was about to protest he huffed and turned.
Sitting in the chair adjacent to the woman, rather than across, Erwin sits patiently and waits for the man to leave. Knowing it’d take him some time to reach the kitchen, he counts to 15, long enough so that the sound would be all but drowned out by the storm, and kicks a leg of the woman’s chair causing her to tumble forward. He proceeds to tackle her and stab her in the neck with the bone chart multiple times, taking the chair’s leg and waiting by the door for the man. When he enters, he cracks him over the head, knocking him unconscious, and bashing his head with a few more blows for good measure. Erwin then walks silently over to Faye, the leg still in hand, and looms over her. “If you ever attempt to offer your life for me again, I swear to all you hold dear that I will kill you myself before you can blink. Is that understood?” Erwin sits, waiting for her answer, seeing she was still hurt deep by his earlier remarks. “Of course, only the insubordination was true. Never have a met anyone with so little trust in my judgement…and that brand of yours, don’t you worry about it. Some day, remind me, I will tell you Levi’s story.”
Everything had happened so fast; there had been no other way to really describe it. One second she was watching him sit next to her. Never had she felt more like a wounded animal than she did and then the woman was on the floor and the man shortly had followed. Lightning flashed behind Erwin as he walked over to her. Bracing herself she prepared for the worse. Trying to meet his eyes as best as possible but it only hurt more. Instead of getting what she expected his words once again caught her off guard. The Commander never seemed to amaze her and even at the threat she still felt empty. This wouldn’t stop and she was only going to become a burden. Without even realizing it she was speaking now; “Yes, Commander. I apologize..”
What was her response to his next part? Did she really not trust him? No, she didn’t; in that moment she would just rather not risk it. Not risk the Commander who was so much more important. For whatever reason he had chosen to rescue her than let things play out how they should’ve. Once again without willing herself she spoke. “I’m sorry Commander.. I just don’t think a soldier should cause trouble more than worth. I do trust you..” she felt her voice drift off at that. Head jerking up even more she tilt her head at the notion of Levi’s story. What had been his story? The man who she honestly feared; could he have gone through it as well. Shifting her hands as she tried to rustle them free she huffed.
Erwin offered his hand, aiding her to her feet. ”Really though, a man doesn’t get so far without knowing what calls to make and when to make them. If you don’t trust me, perhaps a better line of work is out there for you. If you do, well, no harm is done in the end of all this.” He scans the scene, looking at the bloody mess he made. ”Well, your new home is a bit dirtied up now…I’ll have to get this cleaned soon before the blood stains it.” He started to walk out to grab supplies and stopped short. ”And, for the record, the fact that you’re still alive means you aren’t a burden on anyone, so get the thought out of your head. Only those who have left us cause a burden. And that, well, it’s not a burden of their life, it is the burden of their death that sticks with us for the rest of our days…that is what makes soldiers a burden to the Legion.”
Erwin steps out, and after a few minutes of searching finds an old tattered mop and bucket. When he returns, he finds Faye hasn’t moved too far, with a morose look on her face. As he cleans, he starts to hum one of the few songs he knew, a lullaby from his childhood. He sings in a soft but deep tone, mopping up the blood, disposing of the bodies, and making sure it was spotless. The song repeated a few times, but he had hopes it may calm her a bit, as he knew his words would no doubt just pour salt in her wounds.
Taking his hand she pulled himself up. Wincing as he spoke again she was beginning to believe she'd never recover from this night. Everything he was saying was just pushing the dagger in deeper. No harm done or there had been a lot of harm done. Not that she would ever admit it. Listening to him talk about the dirty home her eyes adjusted. Through the blurriness she stared at the red. Blinking away the tears she listened to his steps followed by stopping. Shifting her eyes she looked at him from the corner of her eye. Clutching her fist she turned her head away as the tears filled even more and she closed them tight before opening them. Really; who would her death stick with? The question rang in her mind; so many people had been lost for a cause. She didn't move; nothing in her willed her too other than two steps towards the door before freezing again. Glancing down at her foot just barely stepping into the blood.
Unable to push her feelings away she felt weak. And as he began to hum and sing she wanted to cry. Not only did she look like a child; she acted like one. And that was why she felt like this. Why were things so hard and dumb? Listening to it despite the hate that burned as he sang to her like a child she could feel the ice that had bee forming ease up and without saying anything she moved past the room slipping off her shoes. The sound of her footsteps barely fainted through the house and she made it to the back door. Pushing out she walked out until her feet were buried in the grass and she sat. Sat there in silence and stood up at the stars.

and then imagine the tally marks becoming a scar when the one they love dies.

Secrets in the Tower
Something in her told her to turn and walk away. Go back where she belonged along with the consequences of her father who would have no troubles with making sure she was in her room aching. The thought made her uneasy and her stomach sick; especially as she could already figure her brothers worry. The letter would have gotten to him by now while he was out courting and looking for a Queen for when and if he decided to take over. Along with that something with the look in his eyes as well as his eyes in general enticed her. So it would explain why she was tripping over herself in the minimum light as the sun decided to take it’s own leave. Really she did try her best in case he was looking; no need to make herself out to be a jester of some sorts.
When he stopped she nearly bumped right into him. Halting herself quickly and hearing his question she glanced around quickly. Here? she thought to herself yet said nothing. For a few minutes she stood there in silence taking in her surroundings. Glancing back for a second longingly at the Castle. Eyes swinging to the large tower. Reminding her of the bruises she had gained over the year. Slowly she traced them back to the man who was willing to help.
"You live here?" she questioned. For some reason it even surprised her that she asked. It had been a well known knowledge that her father was not a good King; he was just about as good a King as he was a father. He only treated those with money well and didn’t really acknowledge others other than when needed. "How do you sleep without fear…?" she added; her voice small. More improtantly how did he clean up; there seemed to be no bath. Brushing off some dirt that had gotten on her she shrugged it off.
"Can you.. I mean.. light source..?" she finally managed.
Eren laughed, spreading his arms out wide at his sides. “You’re looking at home, and everything I own.” It wasn’t much, he knew that. No point being shy about the fact that he had nothing. He bent down and pulled a knife from the side of his boot, letting her get a look at it before he slid it back where it belonged. “I sleep easy enough.”
He made himself comfortable on the ground. His ‘home’ wasn’t much at all, just some things he had found or stolen. A pile of clothes and tattered old blankets was ‘bed’. He gestured for her to sit there, where he thought she would be more comfortable. Not that Eren believed she would really allow herself to relax, but at least it wasn’t dirty forest floor she would be sitting on. Her got a fire started, the little pile of wood he always used catching easily, lighting and heating the space quickly enough. “Better? Now, feel like talking or what?”
Hearing that made her hesitate; everything he owned? There wasn't much and it made her heart hurt. How could anyone live in such conditions. "Someone so kind deserves something better.." she mumbled to herself mainly. Seeing the knife caught her off guard; so maybe she was bit out of her comfort zone. "Oh.." was all she managed. Never had she really even needed a sword or anything. Guards stood all around the castle usually keeping her close.
Watching him motion to the pile of blankets she stared for a second. Pursing her lips she considered turning around but that would be offensive. Not only that but it might put her at even more danger. Walking over she sat down and pulled her legs to her chest. Resting her head on her knees she watched him get a fire started. Rubbing her hands together she held them out to the fire. Snapping her head up she tilt her head. Talking? Oh right; he didn't know. "Well.. um.." she paused. How would she even put this simply? Thinking for a second she felt her voice drop even more. "My brother is um.. Reiner Braun..." she spoke; leaving out the Prince part.
Good afternoon soldier. How are you doing today?
"Commander Erwin..! I.. you’re back from that mission..? Levi told us you wouldn’t be returning for a little longer. I’m well.. and yourself?" she spoke; or stuttered a bit at the fact that he was here. Either way though she couldn’t help the smile.
"Oh, has it not been long enough? I suppose I could go back out in the field if you wish." Erwin chuckled, seeing how delighted young Faye was. "Have you been kept busy? No doubt Levi has had you all cleaning the quarters beyond needed"
Hearing him say that she quickly shook her head. "No! I didn't mean it like that!" she spoke quickly. Even as she spoke she felt her cheeks heat up slightly and rubbed the back of her head. "Yes Commander! I um.. he had me clean the dining hall eight times yesterday." she admitted sheepishly.
