Can you explain to me the Taang/Kummi theory? Why people think Toph could be Ummi's reincarnation??
Okay so this might get a bit long so just bear with me please :). Basically people thinking that toph could be ummi’s reincarnation is because ummi’s face was stolen by the spirit Koh. The spirit who steals people’s faces if you show any kind of emotion (pretty effing creepy). We see this story being told by the avatar kuruk himself in the last episode when aang tries to ask him for help. Kuruk says that he was a pretty laid back avatar and didn’t have to do much. But then he loses the love of his life to koh because he wasn’t attentive. We first see ummi in the second part of the north siege episode. Where aang goes into the spirit world to find koh for I think help.
This is ummi. Pretty hair amiright? Okay so aang is looking at her all focused as if he’s always known her. As if he just has a connection with her. This is where toph comes in. We all know aang first saw toph in the swamp vision. And swamp is a pretty “spiritual place”. And we all know that in the swamp we see visions of people we lost. People we loved. But why in the world would aang see a girl he’s never met? He doesn’t know her. He doesn’t love her. So who is she? Anyways we never got to know what aang had to say about the vision to toph.
Now I’m sure you remember the episode “nightmares and daydreams”. Remember the nightmare aang had of toph? That she had no face? No eyes?
I’m pretty sure you’re getting the picture now. If I make sense that is. Which most of the time I don’t but that’s okay. So you see here Toph has no face? Why in the world would aang had a nightmare about this? Especially with toph? Duh. Toph is the reincartion of ummi. Some say that the reason Toph was born blind was because since in her past life her face was stolen she couldn’t recover her entire face or something that is why she didn’t have eyesight. And that is why my anonymous friend we believe toph is the reincarnation of ummi. Because
Aang saw toph in a spiritual place.
Kuruk lost ummi in the spirit world.
Ummi’s face was stolen from Koh. (Son of a *****)
Aang had a nightmare that toph’s face was stolen.
