“January 1st 2013, Concord became among the first U.S. communities to ban single-serving plastic water bottles.“ (VIA treehugger.,com)
Bans on plastic bags have taken root in communities across the country, but banning the sale of water in plastic bottles? The town of Concord, Mass., is in line to be the first in the nation to do just that, now that the state’s attorney general
Article about the ban when it was more relevant in the news.
Divide in Concord - Together we stand.
Divide in Concord is a fantastic documentary about an 84 year old woman named Jean Hill that spent 3 years attempting to have bottled water banned from Concord, Massachusetts. The plastic bottles were damaging to the environment so Jean Hill took a personal stand against them.
This film calls to action the toll the human race is taking on the Earth. The idea that by just eliminating the use of plastic water bottles alone, we could do an immense amount of good. It shows that no matter the age one person can change the world and start a movement unlike any other.
This film not only addresses climate change and the damaging affects of our waste but shows there is actually a way to help and it can be done by starting small. We all know the Earth is damaged but this film calls to the attention that something like plastic bottles can be eliminated from the equation and do alot. Plastic bottles are only recycled less than 20% of the time.- A fact I did not know until this film. The rest goes into our oceans, water supplies, streets, and more. approximately 1,500 to 1,725 water bottles are used and thrown away every second in America. Jean Hill fought for 3 years to get one of the most historical towns in the nation to eliminate them from use and started a movement.
As the director I do not think I would have made many editorial differences. Some parts I would have hurried along more or shown how they got the idea of involving the teens turning 18. But overall I enjoyed the film immensely and loved seeing an important idea such as this come into the light.

“Beautifully moving and drastically new. They definitely started a new conversation.” - Faith Diaz

Seeds of Time saves time.
Seeds of Time is a documentary about the Svalbard Global Seed Vault located in the Arctic Norwegian Island of Spitsbergen and under control by Norway. It is a global vault on a mission to store one, or as many as necessary, of every seed and strain of it in the world. This way if a global catastrophe happens it is possible to feed what will be left of the human race. Cary Fowler has made it his life mission to not only see this project through, but keep it going, after over coming cancer... Three Times.
Seeds of Time calls into action the thought of taking actual measures to preserve the plants of the Earth by putting them into one indestructible area with high security measures to withstand any global terror on any magnitude.
The film uses many different artistic edits such as a comic approach and uses of photoshop to allow a floating idea. The film brings attention to the whole issue of needing to store seeds and the idea of using seeds as a way to fuel the world and re-establsih seeds and plants that have gone extinct.
I hope to be put right up there on the wall so I can look down and watch over this place.

A new documentary film tracks the history and mission of the Svalbard Global Seed Vault - sometimes called the Doomsday Vault - and its founder Cary Fowler.
Article found about when the Seeds of Time documentary was about to be released, a video sneak preview provided within the document.
If you can look into the seeds of time, and say which grain will grow and which will not, speak then to me.

~ Author Naomi Klein and Director Avi Lewis of This Changes Everything ~
This Changes Everything.. May really change it all.
Day 4, September 20, Director: Avi Lewis This Changes Everything was the Closing Night, festival, and US Premiere film. This film was over four long years in the making, with shots from over seven different countries and numerous cities. Lewis depicts how people everywhere are fighting back against the government in an attempt to save not only their homes but the land itself, they are fighting to save the Earth. Lewis perfectly captures how much people are willing to give up in the name of the land. Gracefully dynamic film with a freshing take on saving the world, global warming, and government corruption in a new more grasping way.
