Fun headcanon I have for Mary is that she's got a massive interest in cryptids - not proof of their existence but how they were created.

Urban legends and myths didn't come from nothing, and she wants to know what were the things that became the building blocks for the creatures of modern times.

She's definitely pulled all nighters straining her eyes at a town history book with the computer open on a half-polished wiki page, table partly covered in papers she's written with quotes from books (credits included) meanwhile the corkboard is quite full with any scrap of info she's gotten about the origins of her current cryptid of choosing. The ones she's satisfied with their origins are in folders next to her workbooks, labelled with the date of completion and contents sorted meticulously.

She's not chasing them however; that's how you get yourself killed from something stupid. And she's absolutely not lending anyone her camera for it either (stop asking Johnny. No, chasing ghosts isn't all that different- do you want to die in the woods?!)

Thinking about Jimmy being bitter/angry again

Him standing behind Ghost and his smile is more tense than manic. His eyes are burning but he keeps a lid on it. He keeps his mouth shut.

He doesn't go off on how it's not fair he's stuck as the one tagged along. He stays silent about how he couldn't get to see what the future was in store for him because he was the one that died in that stupid forest alone and not Ghost. He didn't get to grow up and grow old. He didn't get to fall in love. He didn't see the wonders and curses of life because he was the one Cardboard Friend 'took under her wing' to replace her last 'lost' kid.

And it's not fair how he has to stand back and watch Ghost play out his life decades after his time and he's stuck dead while everyone else gets to live but he's here with this sad excuse for a replacement but it'll never be real because that's Ghost's body and not his and it will never be his because it was taken away from him by others and its not fair it's not fair it's not fair it's not fair why me why not you why did you get to live and not me this is not fair why you why you why you I hate you I hate you I hate you I hate you I hate yOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU I HATE YOU-
