Starter: A chance at survival.

With a vehicle running on mostly fumes, less than a mile to travel before he’d reach his destination, and the sun about to set on the horizon, - 10K began to seriously question whether or not he was about to make a huge mistake. It certainly was, but to do this when night time was just around the corner was what made it all the more dangerous. He was already closing in on the city up ahead when all of a sudden a feeling of discomfort formed in his gut. It easily could’ve been the hunger from going days without food, or his sixth sense was trying to withhold him from doing something absolutely regrettable. The raven shook off the feeling along with his doubts, as there was no room for hesitation in his plan if he wanted to succeed.

The engine of his dirt bike gave out upon arriving at the outskirts of the city. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect as he could already see some z’s roaming the streets from where he was standing. The raven quickly reached for his rifle, steadying its frame against the top of the bike and peeked through the scope. Trying to catch a glimpse of any other activity going on, but there simply wasn’t. Something wasn’t right.

Where are all the dead dudes?

A puzzled look appeared on his face as he tried to figure out what was going on, When suddenly it hit him. The only logical explanation for the lack of z’s was there being something, or better said, someone that had already caught their attention. The poor sucker, or suckers, must be driven into a corner by now, about to become a good ol’ Z meal. This could be the perfect opportunity for 10K to sneak through the streets and find the supplies he needed in order to survive.

He found it to be quite a sickening thought, letting someone be devoured, torn to shreds by a bunch of brain-hungry corpses - just so he could live. Could this be compared to survival of the fittest or was it more something along the lines of Natural Selection? Either way, he was aware that it could have been him had he gotten there earlier. The raven roughly bit down on his lower lip as he was reminded of his previous group. How he ended up with them because he decided to help them out, because he saved them. In that moment Ten Thousand was once again reminded of how precious human life really was in this goddamned horror show of a world. And he just knew he had to make the right choice, even if it may be his last.

With that in mind 10k grabbed his bag, swung his rifle over his shoulder and began to make way into the city. As he closed in on the few stray z’s, reached for his slingshot device and fished a metal gear out of the pocket of his pants. With fury in his eyes and fire in his soul, he pulled back the rubber band and aimed it straight at z’s head. When released, the gear penetrated the first z’s skull, only to kill a second one that was behind it.

“5077, 5078.”

it's a darn shame that it had to come to this. he ends having to use the window as a quick escape, the zombies having caught his scent and he's..he's not even the slightest bit surprised.

he was told at a young age that running, it makes you a coward and he never wanted to run from anything. now here he is, running as if his life depends on it and that's because it does.  he mutters a prayer for good luck, keeping his eyes ahead of him, not daring to look back. wanting to, but not. because he could sworn he had just passed some people. some who were alive. but he didn’t stay, wouldn’t stay. it wasn’t that he couldn’t and he’s almost surprised at how rather numb to this situation he’s become.

his life depends on the sole factors of him being able to run fast and him being able to shoot straight.  he wonders for a minute as his feet pound against the concrete, how it came to this.

but dave snaps out of it, seeing a ladder in the distance and he's not quite sure if that's a person or a zombie in front of him, but he's not sure if he can even take a risk at it actually being a person.
