I was commissioned to do a portrait of Dinky the Great Dane by his dad Ron. Don’t know who Dinky is? He’s the Great Dane throwing an adorable tantrum at Ron for not getting “lovies” ;] See it ~here~ totally worth the watch!
…I’m ready for the fall I’m ready for everything that I believed in to drift away ready for the leaves ready for the colors to burn to gold and crumble away…

Even though the sky was cloudless and of a perfectly light blue color, it made a smile appeared on female’s features. Sure, she loved rainy days a lot more, no matter how unusual others might have thought it to be, but today even Haru had to agree that the sunny weather fit the situation a lot better. Because today was the last day of the month, meaning, they would be accepting new volunteers.
This always made her feel excited.
There were many reasons to that, such as her love for meeting new people and getting to know other believers, but most importantly it was because of that feeling of being united, the feeling of family it gave off. These people weren’t related by blood, but by religion, and for the most part, the bond among them was just as strong. And working together with good intentions, in her mind, only made it greater.
With a gentle smile plastered on her lips Haru greeted each and every person coming inside bowing her head and giving them a hushed ‘thank you for coming’. There were a lot more of them than usually - both old and new faces alike. Thinking that everyone was already inside and they could start, blonde went to close the main door to prevent wind drafts, but stopped at the doorway. Outside there was still a man standing, and judging from the flayer he was clenching in his hand like his life depended on it, raven came here today for the same reason the others did. Volunteering work.
“I’m sorry– Are you perhaps here to help us out?” Moving her hand lightly she gestured at the church behind her. “Every pair of helping hands is much appreciated. I’m Haru Tanaki, by the way.” She gave him a short bow. Young women hoped that this would clear all doubts and uncertainties that the stranger might have had about coming inside. “And you are– ?..” Blonde looked closer at his worried face and for a second she thought that this wasn’t their first meeting, but pushed that thought away immediately. No, she definitely didn’t know him.
They were doing this for a soup kitchen. A soup kitchen; no pressure, just service. So he straightened his shoulders and made his way inside, clutching his flyer, only then, he suddenly felt too overwhelmingly tall. A woman came in front of his path, her smile a bit like a gushing ray of sunshine and her teeth very straight and white when she did. She was quite pretty and taller then Clara, but even if he was a bit impressionable to smiles and the bouncy, positive attitude she gave off, when he looked closer he knew she looked a bit too familiar to be a stranger.
It was totally random, and for a moment, he was quiet surprised, but the moment was fresh and pleasant and short; like a kind gesture from a best friend. Were they actually childhood friends, or was it just a really muddled misunderstanding?
After more then a double-take glance, he registered her dark blonde hair and recalled memories of balancing on a fence in a backyard, peering over to exchange a few words with a girl who looked very much like this woman. They were happy memories he knew, ones of pillow forts in his crowded childhood home and sneaking raw cookie dough in tiny kid handfuls over the counter. He had been adopted into a family of seven brothers and two sisters, and knew it probably was an overbearing reputation to pass over. He didn’t want to mess this up, so he decided it wouldn’t hurt not to mention it if she didn’t remember him.
“Hi!” he opened up with a grin he hoped wasn’t too geeky looking, and rubbed his hands together, bouncing a little on the balls of his feet.
“I’m Eleazer, yeah. Its nice to meet you – um, yeah – I’m here to help, if you’ll have me?” he hoped his chuckle was charming enough to convince he wasn’t some creepy sasquatch man. “I hope I’m not too late; I heard about this through a co-worker of mine and liked the idea of cramming in some service for a while. Where can we start?”
betraxed :
The church bells tolled so much louder and longer when he actually stood right outside the place. The brightly decorated flyer offering volunteer work was still clutched and a little rumpled in his hand after the walk here, but Eleazer still stood, checking his watch ; debating this options while he watched passerby on the road branch off to file into the stained-glass sanctuary.
He’d been given the flyer and prompted to go by a co-worker of his. He knew they’d had good intentions, even if his friend had tried shoving their faith down his throat many, many times before. But Eleazer was willing to go at least once, knowing it couldn’t hurt if his schedule was clear, Amanda’s medications were payed and distributed, and Clara and Jet weren’t setting fires to cars around the city.
He was overreacting. Eleazer took a deep breath through his nose and exhaled very slowly through his mouth. He did it four times, and focused on the stained glass windows of the church to distract himself. Pushing his thoughts to the back of his mind, he focused on the more nagging junctures still splayed in his wake.
It would definitely be too late to back out now, and knew he would be getting his friend off his back by going – but he wouldn’t be able to stomach the rejection and disappointment if he ditched – and he could learn a thing or two too. He’d read on the flyer that they’d offered depression/self-help therapy groups on some of the same days he had work off, and even some openings to have talks with the head bishop. If Eleazer was being honest with himself, and knew he wanted to improve himself, he knew it couldn’t hurt, and that he maybe needed at least one of those.
Eleazer watched a few remaining couples file in, some holding hands, others in bigger groups chatting and laughing and gesturing animately. A tiny part of him whimpered pitifully, and he almost wanted to slap himself. He was an adult and wasn’t supposed to be squeamish about gatherings as if he were in junior high. They were only raising money for a soup kitchen after all.

☠.☼ ☁
– chosen at random –
☠: Their worst nightmare.
☼: Favorite season.
☁: How they feel about cold weather.
☠: Living or waking, Clara’s worst nightmare would probably be some type of world-wide apocalypse and loosing all that she had – she covets over material things and physical pleasures – or having to be thrown back into the military where she fought with Eleazer and Jet, and not surviving the second time.
☼: She likes spring the best, because, when living in the city and with fluctuating temperatures she can pick out a variety of clothes / styles to try out and feel satisfied flouncing. She can start swimming in outdoor pools in the spring, if they’re open, or try going to beaches/lakes to try her luck, and she likes the smells and ideas of teeming new life.
☁: Clara likes slushy, wet, rainy weather, but not freezing temperatures. She thinks snow takes up space and is a nuisance, only she does like having the excuse to try going to heated sauna’s or natatoriums. Clara can’t go running in the winter or when its snowing, and finds especially cold weather makes her lazy, but wetter weather electrifies her senses for exercise.

★: who inspires them.
✖: A trait they despise in people.
★: Amanda is actually secretly inspired by her psychiatrist, though she has a hard time identifying that its actually admiration and not gratitude or affection towards the psychoanalyst, since she was the one who has been helping her bounce back from a professional stand-point. Even though Eleazer and Jet try heavily and are learning, her psychiatrist has been the most impactful, and Amanda admires that her psychiatrist is calm-headed enough to handle the weight of her situation extravagantly when Eleazer and Jet can’t.
✖: She despise outright, obnoxious cheer in public; bubbly happiness, unless its coming from one of her three closest friends, as a jealousy symptom, for its something she envies heavily.
☹: A thought that makes them sad.
–chosen at random –
☹: Clara hates seeing the trauma impacting large amounts ofpeople around the world, and can get depressed for the people who haveunwanted nightmares thrusted upon them. She always refuses to watch thenews, and doesn’t like mentioning catastrophic ordeals in common conversations. It makes her anxious and down more often then not.
