I used to lie in your bed, exhausted from a long day of work, and you’d play with my hair and tell me how lovely the shade of color was. Like an artist would, describing the different hues at different lengths. You said that it was like running through a lush field of grass in the summer. You would ask me if you could paint it, but I’d say no. Maybe if I had said yes, I would have at least had something to take out of everything that happened with us. Now all I have is this one small memory that I’ll choose to hold on to.

Every time I get sick or don't fell well all I want is my mom to be here to take care of me and then I start to cry thinking about how she won't be there at my graduation, or my wedding, or the birth of my children. God is cruel.
