Viola only pursed her lips together in response. Honestly, his promise didnât sound all that reassuring to the girl. Nonetheless, she chooses not to say anymore on this and instead follows the boy, putting her entire trust (and life⊠letâs not forget her precious life that she has stolen) into his hands.
Vaguely, she had noticed that the hissing was starting to become more and more faint as the stepped over the rocks, yet she paid no mind to them. She was already bitten by one, surely she wouldâve felt faint by now or even had died if theyâd carried any venom within their, uh, beak. Viola had simply just gone along with the boy in hopes that he would lead her away from the danger, maybe bring her to place where they carry an antidote. Sheâd assume that they were poisonous judging by the boyâs earlier reaction when she had warned him of the chimeras. Yet, here she was, completely fine and healthy⊠how odd. Perhaps this boy was justâ
Violaâs thoughts were cut short, her eyes slightly widened with surprise and out of reflex she jumps back an inch as soon as heâd let go of her wrist, in the process sheâd almost lost her footing. Yet instead of falling into the stream with him, Viola had miraculously regain her balance on the stone she was currently standing on. Her small sense of panic had quickly left and instead replaced with mild annoyance towards the red head, glancing over to the pained boy with cold indifference. He was supposed to keep her safe, not almost cause her to drown with him!! Clumsy oaf⊠he shouldâve been more mindful of where he was stepping! Well⊠no matter, better him than her sheâd supposes. And at least the he had the right mind to let go of her wrist instead of just hanging on⊠though, at the same time was a pretty stupid move on his part. She couldâve probably prevented him from falling inâŠ
Regardless, the boy had missed his chance at survival. If she were to help him now, not only would that put Viola at a huge risk of falling in with him but, and most importantly, she might just ruin her lovely and clean dress by getting it all gross and wet. And that just simply wonât do! After taking two careful steps closer to him, she glances down to the boy with a blank expression and slightly kneels over him, placing both her hands over her knees.
âHey, you donât really need my help for this, do you?â she asked tonelessly, tilting her head a bit. âYou can get out of there just as easily as you got in, yes? I did say earlier that I couldnât swim, did I not? Howâs a small girl like myself supposed to help a clumsy oaf like you? You shouldâve been more careful. Oh well⊠these things happen I suppose.âÂ
She gave him a shrug and straighten herself out. With that, she slowly makes her way over to the last two stones leading to the other side. âPity too,â the blonde says over her shoulder. âIâm sure there will be some people thatâll miss you. But donât worry, if I find anyone Iâll tell them that the death you died was quick and painless. And that you died protecting some poor, innocent girl that had gotten lost in the forest. Thatâs fine, right? At least people will know that your death was meaningful rather than something as silly as drowning.âÂ
