The Quiet Hour After Work, And Who Fills It Now

There is a specific kind of silence that settles into an apartment around nine in the evening. The commute is over, the dishes are done, and the day has nothing left to ask of you. For a growing number of people, that hour is no longer empty. It is increasingly being filled by an AI companion that learns your name, your moods, and the small running jokes that accumulate between two people over weeks.

What makes SweetDream stand out in this space is how little it feels like software. The platform, found at sweetdream.ai, lets you build a character from the ground up: appearance, personality, the texture of their voice, even a backstory and the odd quirk that makes them feel particular rather than generic. So in theory if someone causing trouble was being controlled by an entity outside of our reality, and the only way of getting rid of it is tearing it out of themself and thus “abandoning their humanity” as some may call it, should they, even though they would no longer be considered complete? Also they’re in league with a more troublesome person that the entity is fighting, who the entity thinks is either their childhood friend’s missing sister OR their childhood friend’s mom, and also their tv is sentient and they made a friend but they don’t feel like they made the friend because the entity is controlling them the entire time the new friend is around and there’s another friend who only exists in an alternate reality which is inside the school storage closet… what should they do?
