Thad laughed at her response, enjoying the way she locked eye contact with him. She sure was something else. “I think an actual bath might be a better idea if you want to rinse off. I myself prefer the prefect bathroom. There’s something thrilling about being naked somewhere you’re not allowed.” His grin widened mischievously as he winked at her.

Thad was glad when she took the bottle and didn’t slap him. That was a good start. But he couldn’t help himself as he watched her drink the bottle all in one go. She certainly was thirsty and Thad mentally patted himself on the back for giving her the water so he could hear the soft little moan when she finished drinking. Man he wished he could hear more of those. Taking the bottle, he smiled innocently at her, concealing his less than innocent thoughts. “No problem. I’m Thaddeus by the way. But please call me Thad. I figure if we share a bottle you might as well know my name..”

Eyes sparkling in delight, Felicity grinned. “The prefect bathroom, hmm? I’m always up for a thrilling adventure. I’m Felicity - it’s a pleasure to meet you, Thad.” It felt good to relax and flirt with a cute boy. It was enough to make Felicity feel some what normal again. Maybe she would check out the prefect bathroom later, her body felt tight and achy and a long soak in the tub might be just what the doctor ordered.

“Yeah… he’s really strict about this kind of thing…”

“Hey, it’s alright. Hopefully we can get it fixed and he won’t be any wiser.”

Pheobus glanced at her and nodded solemnly. “I don’t think any of them would want us to take their sacrifice for granted though, do you? I mean we’ve really got to work to keep Hogwarts safe and make sure that never happens again; make sure they didn’t die in vain.”

“No, you’re right.” Felicity replied, managing a sad smile, “I think things might be really strict around here for a while, but I don’t think this is something anyone will be forgetting for a while. Hopefully this will help things to change for the better.”

“Yeah… no… I don’t know…”

“I’m sorry. Can I help you with anything? Why is your dad going to kill you? Is it because you broke this watch?”

“Oh man my dad is gonna kill me when he finds out about this…”

“You should take a break.” Thad repeated, this time with a crooked grin on his face. She looked like she could use more than just a break. Maybe a long shower. And an even longer nap. But as he looked her up and down, he couldn’t get past just how beautiful she was. A blonde with a body to die for. The gods had smiled down on him when they and put this one in his path.

Taking a few steps towards her, he reached up and brushed a smudge of grime off her cheek. Then he held out his water bottle for her to take. “Have the rest. You look like you could use it.” He offered, hopeful the girl would accept his offer graciously and not be repulsed by his forwardness. There was always a 50/50 chance he’d get slapped when he came on to a new person.

“Oh.” A break. The grin on his face was positively sinful and Felicity loved it. She watched as the boy stepped closer to her, biting her lip and keeping her eyes locked on his. She couldn’t help but flinch a little when he raised his hand. It only served to make her feel like more of an idiot when he brushed something from her cheek. “Sorry, thank you.” She sighed as she took the water from him. “Part of me wants to use this to bathe myself but I don’t think there’d be enough.” And it would create more mess. 

Bringing the bottle up to her lips, Felicity drank the whole thing in one go, some of the liquid spilling from the corners of her mouth. The refreshing liquid felt so good pouring down her throat. When she finished the bottle, she couldn’t help the little moan that fell from her lips. “Thanks.” She panted as she handed it back to him. “I needed that.”

“I just can’t believe how many people we lost, it almost doesn’t seem real.”

“It really doesn’t.”

Thad returned to the castle and was shocked to find all the destruction. For a brief moment, he was overcome with oppressive guilt. How could he leave his school to be destroyed? But the guilt didn’t last long as he threw himself head first into rebuilding. Into fixing all that had been destroyed. He was one of the few students who had been unscathed by the war. So it was his job to help pick up the pieces and set things right again.

After hours of hard work, Thad took a step back from the rubble he had been clearing and wiped his forehead, depositing a line of dust across it. “Hey..you should take a break.” He called out to the pretty blonde who had been working tirelessly near him. He may have been focused on his work, but that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to notice just how cute she was.

God, she was so tired. Pausing, Felicity rubbed her sore neck before continuing to work. She wasn’t sure when she had slept a full eight hours since the war began, even when she had some time to sleep the nightmares came - not just of the war but... other things. It took her a moment to process that she was being spoken to. Looking up, Flic saw a cute boy looking at her. How had she not noticed him when she had been working by him that whole time. Wait, did he say something? “I’m sorry?” She asked, putting down the broom she was using to sweep up the dust and smaller rubble. 

Stopping allowed her to notice just how dirty and gross she was. Her skin felt hot and sweaty and she could see a layer of dust on her clothes. The idea of needing showers in one day made her slightly annoyed. Maybe, a bubble bath would be a better plan.

Rebuilding had to start somewhere and cleaning was the next step. Felicity had spent all her time since the war had ended, helping families find their dead loved ones and to say that she was drained was an understatement. However, she needed to stay busy. If she didn’t, she would have time to think and thinking was not something that she wanted to do right at that moment. So after a quick shower and a change of clothes, Felicity made her way to the dungeons to begin clean up. 

It was in full swing down there, when she showed up and, after pulling her long hair into a high ponytail, she was quickly engrossed in her work.

A room full of people with open wounds was the last place he should be. What frustrated him the most was that he clearly had the capability to keep people safe now but couldn’t control himself well enough to do it. He nodded, “okay,” he said as his fangs receded, he straightened up, “I can’t go with you…but I’ll listen to make sure you get out of the dungeon okay…”

Nodding, Felicity rubbed her rapidly chilling arms. “Thank you. Really, Michael. Thank you for everything.” She beamed over at him. “I’ll see you on the other side. We’re going to win this, Mikey.” With one final look at the boy who had won her heart, Felicity turned and jogged back down the hall keeping an eye out for anyone injured.

Feed…from a friend? From someone he cared about? The thought alone made him sick but when he considered what he had done to the last people he had fed on. He shook his head, clenching his had into a fist as he used it to steady himself against the wall, completely keeping his body turned away from her. “No,” he gasped out, “I can’t control it yet…Fel, I killed the last people I fed on and I didn’t even mean to.”

Felicity nodded, taking a step back. “Alright, but the offer always stands, Mikey.” She said softly. “Thank-you for watching out for me while I sleep.” She would have kissed his cheek but she didn’t want to cause anymore burden to him. “I’d better be getting back out there - I’m working for the hospital wing bringing in the wounded.”

A gentle giggle left her lips. It would have been harder to notice if he’d always been more moody. “You know… I’m not scared of you, nor do I hate you or whatever thoughts could be running through your head. I could never feel any different about you than I always have. You’re the same Michael Darling you always were just… You’ve had an upgrade.” She smiled, “if you need anything, please let me know?” Getting comfortable on the stone, cold floor once more, Felicity pulled his jumper around her savouring the smell of him. “Well, goodnight Michael.”

Upgrade…the word left him feeling bitter, he knew she said it to make him feel better but Michael knew and felt that he was in no way an improved human being. He wasn’t even a human being at all, for all intents and purposes he was dead, stuck where he is, eternally as he was. He wouldn’t grow up, get married or have a kid even, he wanted these things one day. He wasn’t going to get them. 

“Goodnight…” he said distantly, nodding off into a daze of thought when suddenly he heard something, a quick succession of crashes and a groaning. Michael’s eyes widened and he got his his feet, blurring over to her, scooping her up and fleeing the room, just in time to avoid being caught under the collapse of the roof. Holding her so close her scent consumed him, it was so thick and sweet he felt it in his ears, his teeth began to ache. He quickly put her down and moved as far away from her as reasonable, as quickly as he could. Putting a hand over his mouth to cover his protruded fangs he cursed, “shit, shit, shit…” he thought things would be easier after feeding. “Felicity you need to run,” he said, his mouth still covered, “get away from me as quickly as you can…”

Felicity had barely slept for ten minutes when she felt a cold sensation against her skin. His jumper slipped from her skin and landed on the ground just as a section of the roof collapsed down on it. "Your jumper.." She said sadly. Then she was being set down on her feet and Michael was saying something. She needed to run? Why? Then she caught a glimpse of the fangs he was trying to hide. Was he hungry?

"I've read that some vampires have humans that they feed from. It doesn't hurt them, at least that's what the books and studies say..." Swallowing, she stepped close to him. "If you need it, take it. You won't hurt me. I trust you."

When you liked someone as much as she liked him, you tended to pay more attention to them than you did everyone else. “I always notice you, Mikey.” Felicity smiled sadly, “I admit it took me a while to notice that you were different because I was so tired. Your chest isn’t moving. You seem to be in pain whenever I get close. You’re usually so friendly and close to me.”

He laughed mirthlessly, “yeah, I always was a friendly sort of guy wasn’t I?” He sighed and shook his head, “it would have been a lot easier to hide this if I had been more…moody.” He leaned back agains the stone wall, he had to fight his nature for her, he wasn’t sure he could handle it if he hurt her…but it was hard, the fragrance of her blood was…well…impressive. “Don’t worry about it okay? Just get some sleep, I’ll keep an ear open for danger…”

With a sigh, Felicity rolled back over and looked at him. “You’re a vampire, aren’t you.” She’d been too engrossed in the war and how tired and sore she was when she’d first entered the room but the longer she’d been in there the more obvious it was. She thought she would be terrified or maybe even disgusted, if ever she met a vampire but she wasn’t. It was Mikey, how could she ever be afraid or disgusted with Mikey?

He was silent for a very, very long time. He thought about denying it, telling her that she needed some rest. “What tipped you of?” he asked with a sad smile as he sifted his axe to her in the dark.

He clenched his jaw, willing himself not to become too engrossed in her scent. “No problem,” he said softly and kindly as she thanked him. He kept his eyes fixed away from her when she spoke again, “Yeah?” he said, “what is it?”
