Arrow Stars Give Cosplay Advice: Drink Lots of Water
âThis is Mia. These are mine and Oliverâs impeccable genetics.â
Kat chose a blend of Malbec & Syrah, which coincidentally are the two grapes behind the NP classics âAmell-bec,â and âPacific Coast Pinkâ
ORDER: [Pacific Coast Pink] [Of Queens & Angels] [Amell-Bec]
It runs in the family
6.04 // 7.16 // 7.22
The greatest enemy to Oliver and his family has always been Barry-fucking-Allen
He didnât destroy Thawn. He had ample opportunity and never did. And he never had a good reason for not doing so either. In fact, half the time they were CHUMMY with each other.
Since Barry and Iris have revealed themselves to be kind of CRAP parents, especially since Barry sent his daughter back home without hope of ever seeing him again because he was having a paddy, she sided with his greatest foe and we find out that because of her selfishness, her NEED to see DADDY and rebel in her mid-20âs -_- -
(Remember Barryâs NEED to see mommy and dad again, giving no fucks for anyone else, changing everyoneâs lives in the process, erasing baby Sara and killing Ciscoâs brother - tip of the iceberg)
-she changed time. How arrogant can you be to not even check about the consequences? Like father, like daughter.
Those five years Oliver was supposed to have with his child? THATâS why he only had months with her, because of Nora and her fatherâs inability to do what the world needed him to do. They took away Oliverâs happiness.
What will they destroy the next time they travel backwards in time for selfish reasons?
The Allen family make others sacrifice in their place: they give no shit for anyone other than themselves and call Barry a hero because he can run fast - if the DCTV Universe was just, Barry would die in the crossover and Oliver (with Felicity)Â would be given back to his family, WITH the time heâs lost.
Fuck Barry Allen.
This is beyond the joke, especially after the horrendous way they pulled Oliver to pieces.
âŠ.I may need to write a oneshot to help me vent this.
Vent away Jessica, vent away
Seriously though, this little shit appeared on Arrow and my first thought was NO.
I mean, we were all laughing at how he made Oliverâs jealousy rear its ugly head⊠but then heâs given powers. GIVEN them. He doesnât earn them. So you think heâs going to right? Because then decides to use them for heroism, which was good.
Until it wasnât.
Then it REALLY wasnât.
Then it wasnât to a degree that Iâm stunned the show still stands.
Why iris loves him I donât know; he will never know if HIS Iris, the Iris he grew up with, could have loved him to the degree the NEW Iris does. Itâs as creepy and horrific as Stepford Wives, because Barry didnât seem to care at all about that. He was perfectly fine with being given everything on a silver platter: ego stroked. Lottery won. Uncaring of how he changed everyone for the worst, because he gets to have sex with the version of Iris who suddenly thinks heâs everything.
He let his greatest enemy, not only ESCAPE in the crossover for no bloody reason, but he also let him live. Donât give me bullshit about murder; this is about preventing devastation. Itâs the duty of a hero to be the one to do the things others canât and wonât and Barry didnât have it in him.
Crisis is 100% on the Allenâs shoulders.
Barry is a hero because of his powers, not because of the man who uses them. Itâs gone to his head and he and his family (YES, Iris is included in this because despite shouting at him, her actions as a mother were awful) think that because they have to shoulder the burden of being responsible (boo-fucking-hoo), they can utilise the speed force for their own ends.
NO.
It doesnât work that way cupcake. Except, no one rags on him for it. The city loves him for it. The city doesnât know about his indiscretions. Imagine if Cisco was able to find a way to compare the verse that was with the one he replaced in with in S3.
Imagine if everyone in central city was made aware of how their lives once were just months before. Imagine the mothers, father, children, parents who arenât with them now but were until a selfish little prick needed to choose himself over everyone on the planet.
Imagine not hating him for it.
Imagine them all not screaming âwho are you to play god with usâ at him.
Imagine him doing that again.
imagine then choosing a temper tantrum instead of his own (equally as ridiculous) daughter.
Imagine said daughter, as a consequence, changing the timeline. Twice. Because she wants what she wants. Imagine Iris wordlessly endorsing it by keeping her child so in the dark and so isolated, so ignorant and messed up that sheâs felt abandoned her entire life, meaning their relationship was not a strong one.
Imagine all of this making it so that Oliver doesnât to be with his family, because heâs chosen the world above himself.
Imagine this happening- oh wait, we donât have to imagine.
I. AM. PISSED.
And Felicity⊠Sheâs strong in a way no one but Oliver could ever understand. She did the opposite with her daughter that Iris did with Nora.
Not only did she make damn sure that Mia knows her father, that she understands him and that he loved her, she made damn sure sheâd be safe if she wasnât there. Despite her loneliness, she built her daughter on the ground of her father and made sure her roots were strong as steel. She personally fought for a better world for her before becoming a fugitive: she did not sit there and enable her daughter to throw a tantrum and watch her use her abilities to fuck with the time line.
Oliver and Felicity are together now and happy but they suffered a great deal that they didnât have to.
The crossover is not the enemy: Oliver was supposed to die. Olicity saved him and the crossover will allow him to meet Mia.
Itâs the Allenâs we should be blaming.
I agree with 99.99% of this post, but I was genuinely excited about adding Barry Allen/The Flash to the Arrowverse. I thought his introduction was done well. (Insert MCU reference: Stark : Parker). The Flash as âIâ knew him. A bit immature, funny, geeky, smart. The lighter side of DC. Definitely respectful of the major cast of heroes. But as soon as cockiness, selfishness, hypocrisy, and lack of accountability took over the character - and I no longer recognized him - I was done with the show.
But they just couldnât stop there. They had to remind us how âbadâ and âdamagedâ Oliver was. How he doesnât deserve respect or to be called a hero. And he hears this from a spoiled brat from Central City.
Yep. F Barry Allen and the TV writers who destroyed the character I loved (and still do, in animated form) - while trying to vilify the most selfless of all DCTV heroes: Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak.
Well, you failed. Oliver Queen and Felicity Smoak are DCTV hero royalty. And I canât wait to see what Will and Mia do next.
Oh I agree with all that:
but once Barry was brought in I knew that the whole Arrowverse thing would become about POWERS and META-HUMANS and ABILITIES because apparently these things make a hero a hero.
Well, I have three fics going that say otherwise.
In a very real way, Arrow has ended. The final ten episodes are more of an extended crossover than anything else, so I can face my fics KNOWING that Olicity are ALL that.
And re-writing s1 in True Face allows me to go everywhere the writers couldnât then wouldnât.
But I canât even try to humanise Barry. All the good I once felt for him has been destroyed. I need people to see this, to see that Barry created evil - which affects the BALANCE, RIGHT?!
Thatâs something else that confuses me. Oliverâs a negative force right? But Barry screwed everything up and let his enemy live to screw with his daughter.
But OLIVERâS the negative force.
Hah.
Whatever Flash writers.
The Monitor is an Olicity man.
Yes to all of this. Barry gets everything he want to easily,no suffering no fighting for anything and get his happy ever after. Oliver has to fight for everything and gets a family only to lose them after a couple month. Is that the balance of the universe?I donât think so! Itâs really sad and makes me very angry.đĄ đȘ
I think we can be absolutely sure of this: Oliver and Felicity have shown the way for the rest of them. We were given everything with this couple and the reason why weâre attacked so much for loving them is because the westallens, the laurivers and every other ship didnât get what they wanted.
We were well fed.
They are THE epic couple and cannot be beaten, I donât care what the other shows come up with from now on. Itâll be chump change compared to these two selfless heroes who crossed time, space and the universe itself to be together again. Who sacrificed happiness. Who paid for doing the right thing, in abundance.
đđŒđđŒđđŒ
This is one of the many reasons why I stopped watching s5 after the crossover. The need to use/abuse Oliver to prop up Mr. Crybaby.
Olicity has never been appreciated as they deserved to, and I agree with all this. Why do they need to fuck up the Arrowverse to prop up the Flash? Beats me.
If decent writers were at work, I would have ever left the show. Because they would be treated justifiably.
Olicity will always be the Royal couple of DC-Universe. No matter the efforts, all others will remain wannabes. SorrynotSorry
Olicity and baby Mia!
Iâm not ready to say goodbyeâŠđđ
Time can be rewritten
The concept of a character going into the past to change the future isnât a new one in our popular culture. Look at Back to the Future and the Terminator movies. Iâve seen all of those franchises more times than I can count. I saw the first Terminator shortly after it came out, before there ever was a T2, and far younger than a kid should be allowed to watch such a movie. I had nightmares for weeks. Still⊠Would you believe me if I told you my favorite Terminator movie was the most recent one? Terminator: Genisys?Â
Itâs not too hard to squint your eyes and picture Jai Courtney as Reese and Emilia Clarke as Sarah. Theyâre meant to be the very same people they were in the first Terminator movie and that was a leap of disbelief that I had no trouble making. Probably because of the changes to the storyline and the deep dive into how the future can be changed by the past were so fascinating. I recommend it, if you get a chance.Â
Itâs a lot of the same reason why I love the movie Frequency. Remember when the CW made a (short lived) show based on the concept? I couldnât get into that but I loved the movie. I loved how as things were changed in the past, the character in the future (present?) would discover new memories. The same thing happens in Terminator: Genisys. As changes are made, the character (in T:Gâs case, Reese) finds new memories overlaying their old memories. Where once was desolation and heartbreak, are now new, happy family memories.Â
And thatâs why I canât quite let go of my hope for something similar happening for Arrow in the final season.Â
Maybe because itâs such an immensely satisfying twist⊠Iâm filled with warmth when I consider the moments in Frequency and Terminator: Genisys, where these characters find their sad memories overlaid or replaced by memories filled with family and love.Â
I know Beth has said this future is set. But she also said no Olicity baby in s7 and guess what we get to see happen next week?Â
So youâll forgive me if I donât necessarily place all faith in Beth always telling us the absolute truth. đ
The difference I see, and I think itâs the difference that Beth is counting on us not distinguishing is⊠no one is sent to change this future. We donât have future William or Mia going into the past, I donât believe. Or anyone else. There isnât a deliberate effort to change anything.Â
Which makes a person wonder⊠HOW could it be changed then? What if Oliver sees what this future looks like? What if the Monitor shows him? Or something else along those lines. What if Oliver sees what a future without him there does to his family, his city? What if the conscious, deliberate effort comes from Oliver himself?Â
All good questions. And who knows, right? Itâs all just a big ploy so that I get my emotional payoff. So I can see the happy family montage that I envision for my faves. Whose memories are getting overlaid? Oliverâs? Miaâs? Williamâs? Felicityâs? All of them? Or do they just not remember the dystopia at all when the new, happier memories rush in?Â
Again, I donât know. But I want it. I want it badly. And if the show doesnât give it to me (entirely possible)⊠Iâm gonna need one of you lovely people to fic it for me.Â
