THE MANDALORIAN (2.08) CHAPTER 16 THE RESCUE
Din Djarin lovers, allow me to formally convince you all to also become Hunter lovers by watching The Bad Batch. It’s especially consoling in this Din Djrought.
Here are some similarities between the two:
initially reluctant father figures who quickly bond to a child in need and are very protective
said child is technically older than them in age, and is hunted by the Empire for their blood
fierce warriors and skilled trackers (one a bounty hunter, one literally a hunter)
“dark and broody” natures to everyone else, but soft for those they love and care about (especially the aforementioned child)
ruthless towards anyone who poses a threat to their child
natural born leaders
open and honest about their mistakes
brown eyes and nice hair is a bonus <3
Hi! I'm new to your blog. Pardon my English, it's not my first language. I want to say, as a Star Wars fan, in general, and a The Mandalorian fan, in particular, that I love the show. All three seasons. Yeah, there. I said it. I love season one. I love season two (I also like very much The Book of Boba Fett). And I love season three. I'm tired, I've been for a while, of hearing and reading that it was bad. It was a great piece of Star Wars. Was S3 the most irregular of the three? Yes, I think it was. Was it the best of the three? No, I don't think it was. And it didn't need to be. Was it good? Yes. It was great, even.
I can agree with the fact that it was a season devoted more to the mandalorian people than one mandalorian (Din) in particular. But, as Bo-Katan said to Grogu: did you think your dad was the only mandalorian? And, given that, since this show aired in 2019, mandalorians have become my favourite Star Wars faction, even above the Jedi, season 3 was a gift. Yes, Din lost some of the focus (and he's my all-time favourite character and I will always love him, so I should be mad about it, but I'm not), but I got to see more of the Armorer (Force, I love her!), I got to see more of their rituals, I got to see them fight (so good), I got to see them retake their homeworld, I got to see Mandalore in live-action (even though it was destroyed, it wasn't barren), I got to see the Darksaber, a curse upon the mandalorian people, being destroyed, I got to see the mythosaur...
And, most of all, I got to see Din Djarin being the catalyst for this things to happen. Mandalorians wouldn't be in Mandalore, as I write these words, if it weren' for him. It was his faith in the Creed what led Bo-Katan to the Mines and got her to see that all those things that he believes in, are more than children stories, And I'm fine with him sticking to the helmet rule, for now. It's just his way of being a mandalorian. He knows there are more ways, and I think he's going to pull it off more often in the future, just, not right now. 70% of the time with it, 30% of the time without it, that would be a good compromise. Also, it would have been great to see him become Mand'alor, I'm not going to lie. But there's still time. And if he never becomes Mand'alor, it will be fine, by me. You don't see Lone Wolf becoming king of anything. And, I must confess, I only wanted him to be just so that Grogu could be his heir. But it's pretty clear that he can be auntie Bo-Katan's heir.
And speaking of her... This season also made me love Bo-Katan as a character when I didn't like her much, before. She's one of my favourites, now.
So, all in all. I love S3. It's different than the other two, but I'd argue that you can be allowed to try something different, to try a new formula, in a third season, so you can accomplish all you needed to be accomplished with the mandalorians as a people so you can use them as an army in the battle against Thrawn, so you can move forward with the story of Din Djarin. The end of the season tells me this. The images of the movie teaser trailer tell me this.
To end this extra-long text, I will say: Long live The Mandalorian, the best piece of Star Wars ever made alongside Episodes IV, V and VI of the Original Trilogy. I have spoken. This is the way.
This is such a beautiful tribute that I don't even want to add to it. I love how much your love for Din and this show oozes into every word you've just said, and I feel honored that you decided to share it in my inbox. This is the Way! 💞
