In 2019 us white wlw need to step up and do more to support our wlwoc sisters. Vocally defend them when you see people harassing them. Actively take a stand against racism in LGBT+ spaces, especially racialized misogyny and homophobia. Listen to them when they say something is wrong, they see more than we do. Stop the trend of wlwoc being bullied off of this website. They deserve better, and we need to step up and do our part by listening to them and defending them against those who intend to harm them.

Btw like. When I say this I don’t mean reblog this post and then never actually think about it. If you’re not gonna actually do shit you’re not helping.

Think about where do many things we call LGBT+ culture came from (slang terms, style, identity labels, drag, etc) ((hint: a lot of these things came from black culture)). Make sure that your politics includes the specific ways that poc are oppressed in ways that white people (yes, even white gays) are never going 2 understand. If you’re the type to read political theory make sure that you actively seek out their written by poc. For the ways that blackness intersects with other identities Audre Lorde and Kimberlé Crenshaw’s works are a good starting point (or, at the very least if you don’t have the time, stamina, or general ability to read an entire book or paper on feminist theory, you could read their Wikipedia pages and check out the links on them that seem relevant)

Critically engage with the ways that racism is embedded in our communities. If we just say “yes we’re accepting of wlwoc!!” without actually analysing the ways racism affects them and how we, as white people, all contribute to it it’s not gonna fix anything. You can’t fix cancer with a bandaid, and racism is a cancer that actively needs to be learned about so it can be properly eradicated. Reblogging this post without changing anything else in your politics or behavior isn’t going to help.
